Go on then. I feel sure Bob would always be welcome to come and see us here, professing or not members on TMB. I for one would love to have Bob spend a couple of days under my roof. He knows Te Kaupapa.

Mystifies me how you guys succumb to the legalistic eastern christianity of 2,000 years ago when you regularly express the value of freedom being paramount in your lives today. You are mixing the OT with the NT. The OT law(legalistic)was the law of sin and death, in the NT we are under grace. The OT was not about free will much at all, the NT was. That is why the NT is compatible with freedom. But Wally you do little to convince me on this board, you have spiritual freedom. You and Nathan are chained to : do this, don't do this ( as the bible says) or else you will burn in eternity. That is ‘ bound’ in the extremity. That is not freedom spiritually. That is being tied up to a anti life philosophy with an obsession with living for ever. Which in reality there is no proof. It is a cold and calculated approach to life. It is sadly, the message you continually espouse on here.

It is sadly, the message you continually espouse on here. Ah, but the secret ingredient is "choice"... Here are some verses in the bible that imply free will which implies freedom, lets see if you can recognize them by key word or phrase: 1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 2Ch 9:7 Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom. 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Mar 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Pro 16:9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Isa 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deu 30:20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Eze 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Eze 18:31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Eze 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Regarding lockdowns- my great uncle in his early 20s was flying an Armstrong Whitworth Whitley bomber over occupied europe to help combat the nazis; as they were his generation's threat to humanity. How lucky am I that at 42 all I've had to do is get a couple of doses of covid vaccine and wear a face mask and stay at home? I could have all the freedom in the world but be dead of covid...... Just my view.
Its fine if that works for you, but I'm more of the mindset; "Give me liberty or give me death". Well, death is pretty serious ain't it? You see I knew a chap who died of covid last year, I've a customer in hospital right now with breathing difficulties after covid; this all doesn't make me want to go out particularly. I call it common sense, you could also call it self preservation.......

There are isolated communities in the far north that have come down with Covid. It’s carried on the wind. No avoiding it whatsoever.

I think I need a vacation in NZ. I've had three shots and quite willing to be tested as often as anyone wants. Your a hypercondriac.... I'm surprised you were brave enough to leave your house in order to get your shots.
Stay under your bed and try not to be afraid Bob, you'll be okay come Spring You don't need a vacation, you just need a shot of courage.
I really am curious as to where the rich folks in NZ and AU get all their money.. I'd be in the poor house after a year and a half of lock downs if I hadn't worked.
Life does seem like one big party down there, no responsibilities in life, just playtime 24/7... I'm a little jealous.
You have to be completely off your rocker. I'm no hypochondriac. You have no clue what my "medical" profile includes -- my attitude is what has kept me alive and well for almost 2 decades, and I'm smart enough that I'm not restricted from doing ANYTHING anyone else can do -- and I don't have to be coerced into qualifying to do any of it. In fact, I'm much more qualified to vacation in NZ that millions of other Americans. You want to go with me?

I’m thinking self preservation to some seems to mean : focused on saving oneself for an afterlife but somehow also demanding that self has its freedom in this life rather than respecting medical rulings that in fact help others.

There is something that never ceases to amaze me and that is when some people fail to make a rational argument for their belief they will start making ad hominem attacks against the other person!
Don't they realize by doing that they are acknowledging they no longer have a valid argument?

But meanwhile in pursuit of freedom in other areas in this life. And quite emphatically really. And taking into account approx half of the lines were from the old testament. Which always strikes me a bit odd when you claim previously, the O.T. was done away with.

I cant remember where or when I saw it or thee exact phrase but anyhow it has always been my understanding.
I am not a bible scholar and have no intention of starting now. No, I don't intend ‘drinking as a horse’, 44 lines of scripture to persuade me to accept your response to my original post.
Have a good evening, I am off to do my slow cooker cornbeef.

You have a weird idea of what covid-19 consists of.
What has the Covid-19 virus got to do with "liberty" or "freedom" any more than a cancer, typhoid or tuberculous would have to do with "freedom?"
Restrictions interfere with freedom... Closing down businesses, isolating people, etc... Cancer, typhoid, & tuberculous don't do that, but the 'fear' of covid and not the virus itself, punishes people socially and economically.
There is something that never ceases to amaze me and that is when some people fail to make a rational argument for their belief they will start making ad hominem attacks against the other person! Don't they realize by doing that they are acknowledging they no longer have a valid argument?
All my arguments are valid... Keep in mind that I was responding to, "Maybe you're just plain stupid" and "You have to be completely off your rocker." Those are ad hominem attacks with no argument.

That old statement about a horse makes no sense in this context. Even horses have enough sense to not keep on drinking water that is contaminated with something that is not healthy for them.

Ah, -but Dan! You have been calling people "sissies," "lazy" and worse ever since you started posting here -long before Bob said anything about YOU!
After awhile one gets fed up with your disparaging and belittling views about other people! Your personal response to Bob was way out of line. You said that Bob was "a hypercondriac..." (no proof of that at all) and you said you was "surprised you were brave enough to leave your house in order to get your shots." and told him to "Stay under your bed and try not to be afraid," and that he just needed a "shot of courage."
THAT was a severe ad hominem attach on his character.

No worse than being called stupid or off your rocker... I responded in kind. I don't think Bob is bothered by a little mindless banter.
What can I say, I see a lot of lazy people in this world and a ton of sissies. Its just how I am, its tough for me to respect cowards or people who won't work.
Maybe I'm just envious of people who can afford to hide in their basements for 2 years painting yellow stripes down each others backs?

(no proof of that at all) and you said you was "surprised you were brave enough to leave your house in order to get your shots." and told him to "Stay under your bed and try not to be afraid," and that he just needed a "shot of courage."
Maybe I'm just envious of people who can afford to hide in their basements for 2 years painting yellow stripes down each others backs? hehehehehehe

My diverse passive income sources are performing fantastically as I lie in a spa pool & wind up Christians online. Off to hide in the cellar shortly. . . . and spend the day tinkering with a classic car. Thanks for keeping the world economy afloat while we attend to whimsical pleasures, much appreciated.
