I know what you're saying. I mean when I need a plumber or electrician I usually ask a kid at the supermarket if he can come around & do it for cash after work. I've saved a fortune over the years getting inexperienced help in. We've had a couple of fires & a nasty flood, and one of the kids got electrocuted, but all in I think we're on the right side of the ledger

Evangelist. that is not how it went in the 1st century for either the 12 or the 70.... Amen, Wally. Jesus and his apostles in the 1st century and through down the ages did NOT attend any seminary, Rabbi schools, but they were given all kinds of gifts by God and Christ to build up and strengthen the churches of God as Paul wrote in Eph. 4:11-14 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. ~~ God and Christ have been given His servants/apostles/workers and His followers the same gifts as pastors, prophets, teachers, evangelists, ministers, missionaries and so on through the centuries and even among the workers today to build up and strengthen the churches of God world wide just like it happened in the 1st century churches with the apostles such as Paul, Barnabas, Peter, James, John, Titus, Timothy, Silas, Luke, Mark and so on.
Before I met the workers I planned to attend the Minot, North Dakota Pentecostal Seminary. I learned most of the ins and outs of the seminary, which courses to take, and so on from my church pastor, who graduated from there and he could get me in. They have their ways of Pentecostal interpretation of the Scriptures, just like the Baptists, the RCC and so on have theirs.
NONE of them teach the way of Jesus and the apostles apostolic New Testament ministry and fellowship! like we read in the New Testament. My pastor said, " It can't be DONE or LIVE that WAY today!" Well, the workers proved him WRONG! and I proved him wrong also, it can be done with the help of the Holy Spirit and God.
I was very thankful to be a 2x2 workers for 8 years so I'm able to understand how the apostles in the 1st operated, and how they got their training from in service 24/7 with new Co-workers/apostles every year... They Holy Spirit lead me through all kinds of experiences when I was with the older workers... They taught me how to be a leader, a pastor, an evangelist, a minister and so on.

You don't get knowledge and understanding of God from a college, you can read and study all you want, but without the right heart it's nothing! God teaches and guides those who truly belong to him as they walk in the way of Jesus and bare witness to the truth. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

We as a society are judgemental, because we lack acceptance. We should learn to open our heart and accept people; every person we meet has something special to give to us if we are open to receive it. We should learn to accept others and try to adapt to them rather than changing them. No two people are alike.
Don't ever think that you are different and belong to a special group, and that everybody else is wrong. Yes have a good heart, also an open mind.

The thing we need to care for others is love in our hearts not college training. Jesus said, love another as I have loved you. Without love and care in our hearts it's nothing, and those who truly belong to God should have his love in them and have the life of Christ living through them. No college education can do that. The apostles didn't need a college education, they needed to walk with Jesus. And we do that by living by the will of God and obeying his word, and as we do this God will teach us through Christ by the Spirit. And if we need help we go to God's people, not college. Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

And we should care for everyone we meet and help others when we see the need, if we can. But we shouldn't try to adapt to them, we are to do what's right before God regardless of what others do. But still show love and kindness to those we meet in our daily lives regardless of who they are.

openingact34 Yes. A formal qualification in a supernatural discipline is just a licence to spread false teaching. Is spreading false teaching without a qualification related to accepting the bible's content literally, without qualification?

Is spreading false teaching without a qualification related to accepting the bible's content literally, without qualification? except for one thing. Those that have lead us out of the dark and provided enlightenment to the problems with excepting the Bible as history and fact have themselves once been educated in formal church doctoral Wizardry. Yes there are some who were self taught but they rarely get to hold the microphone. Consider the Jesus Seminar: "Seven pillars of scholarly wisdom" And their seventh step, Reversing the burden of proof. In his day, Strauss had to offer evidence to question the historicity of any part of the gospels because his audience assumed that the gospels were historical. Today, the assumption is nearly the opposite, with the gospels understood to be so thoroughly embellished that one needs evidence to suppose that anything in them is historical.

what did Christ ever do wrong? How are we to know? After he got himself lost in the temple they never told anyone what he did. The episode is described in Luke 2:41–52. Jesus at the age of twelve accompanies Mary and Joseph, and a large group of their relatives and friends to Jerusalem on pilgrimage, "according to the custom" – that is, Passover. On the day of their return, Jesus "lingered" /stayed in the Temple, but Mary and Joseph thought that he was among their group when he wasn't. Mary and Joseph headed back home and after a day of travel realised Jesus was missing, so they returned to Jerusalem, finding Jesus three days later.[2] He was found in The Temple in discussion with the elders. They were amazed at his learning, especially given his young age. When admonished by Mary, Jesus replied: "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finding_in_the_Temple

How many theological colleges and seminaries teach the true identity of God, or even know what the true gospel is? Certainly not a thing to put one's faith in. Amen, Ram. Paul wrote to Timothy how to PASS on the knowledge of God and who is the Christ to the NEXT generation of apostles/preachers of the gospel.
II Timothy 2:1-3 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
~~ This method of the 2x2 workers in service training from the older apostles/workers to TEACH the younger workers how to become preachers has been continuing for centuries instead sending the younger ones to seminary, colleges to become preachers, pastors, evangelists. Here is what we can learn from church history NOT from RCC sources.A History of the Christian Church by William Jones first edition 1812 Chapter 5--section 3.
A view of doctrinal sentiments and religious practices of the Waldenses, collected from their own writings. Their historian, John Paul Perrin, in his "Histoitre des Vaudois," published at Geneva in 1619, has furnished us with two of their "Confessions of Faith," of which the following are faithful translations. Sir Samuel Morland has fixed the date of the first of them in the Year 1120 A.D. [Morland's History of the Churches of Peidmont, Page. 30] Waldenses Had Women Preachers!!
The Waldenses still went further in shocking old-time customs and claimed the RIGHT to Preach for "WOMEN" as well as for MEN. The Waldenses Preachers/Pastors or Barbes, were first condemned by the Pope because they were private people and laymen, NOT learned clergy. Women Preachers were NOT uncommon and they played a considerable role in Piedmont as the 14th century. Waldensians' activity was NOT limited to the Alps-maritime region. John Bale in his catalogue mentioned some Waldensians who had begun to teach in England in (1164). Then in the summer of (1199), the bishop of Metz informed Rome that Waldensians were holding secret meetings in his diocese in which MEN and WOMEN Preached, using a French translation of the Bible. Pope Innocent III declared that secret home assemblies, unlicensed preaching, and disobedience to the command of bishops were NOT to be tolerated. By 1270, the Waldensian Preachers were gathering out disciples in various German states, Austria, Bohemia, Moravia, Hungary, and Poland. The danger for the Catholic Church was that the Bible text conveyed to the general population, by Waldeneses preachers Untrained in theology, appeared to contradict MANY of the doctrines and practices of the Catholic Church, whose clergy was NOT always highly respected. The Vaudois/Waldenses teaching/belief: The Pilgrim Church by E. H. BroadbentSending forth the Vaudois/apostles preachers into the world. Two callings: Apostles and Disciples. Some among the brethren devoted themselves entirely to traveling and ministering the Word and were called "the Perfect" and in accordance with the Lord's word in (Matthew 19:21) "If thou will be Perfect, go and SELL that thou has, and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasures in heaven, and come and follow me." The apostles or the Perfect "Possess nothing," they had NO homes, and Literally Acted upon this command. It was recognize that ALL believers are NOT call to such a path, and that the MAJORITY of believers, while acknowledge that they and ALL belong to Christ, should serve Him while "Remaining" in their families and continuing their usual occupations. Those whom they called "Apostles" played an important part in their testimony. While the elders of the churches and believers "Remained" in their homes, the "Apostles" traveled continually, visiting the churches. A distinction was made between those called to be Apostles or Perfect, and others followers of Christ, based on the fact that in the Gospel some were called to SELL ALL that they had and follow Christ, while others of His disciples were equally called to serve Him in the surroundings in which He found them. The Vaudois/Waldensian Apostles had NO property or goods or home or family; if they HAD these they left them. Their life was one of self-denial, hardship and danger. They traveled in utmost simplicity, without money, without second suit, their needs being supplied by the "Believers" among whom they ministered the Word. They Always go Two and Two, an elder and a younger man, of whom the latter waited on his older companion. (no need for theological training since the younger companion gets on-the-job training guidance from the older companion and the Holy Spirit). No need for seminary school since the Holy Spirit is the only Teacher they need. Their visits were highly esteemed, and they were treated with every token of respect and affection. They NEVER ask for anything; indeed, many undertook serious medical studies that they might be able to care for the bodies of those they met with. The Name "Friends of God" was often given to them. They were required to commit to memory the Gospels of Matthew and John, the general epistles, and a part of those of Paul. They were instructed, moreover, during two or three successive winters, and trained to speak in Latin, and in Italian. They were supported by voluntary contributions of the believers. One part was given to the ministers, once to the poor, and the third was reserved for the missionaries of the Church. These missionaries always Went Forth Two and Two, a young man and old one. The latter was the Regidor, and his COMPANION the Coadjutor. They traveled to Italy, where they had stations organized in many places, and secret adherents in almost all the towns. Each minister was required to become a missionary in his turn. The younger ones were thus initiated into the delicate duties of evangelization--each of them being under the experienced guidance of a man of years, who according to the discipline of his church, was his superior, and whom he was bound to obey in everything as a matter of duty, and not merely out of deference. The Older man, on his part, thus made his preparation for repose, by training for the Church Successors worthy of it and of himself. His task being accomplished, he could die in peace, with consolatory assurance of having Committed the Sacred Trust of the Gospel into Prudent and Zealous hands. Their maintenance of the absolute authority of the Word of God, and of the doctrine of Salvation by Jesus Christ. The Vaudois, therefore, are not schematics, but continued inheritors of the Church founded by the Apostles. Very few of them were married (in the ministry); and their perpetual missions, their poverty, their missionary tours, their life always spent amidst warfare and dangers, make it easy to understand the reason of their Celibacy. In the annual synod (special gatherings), which was held in the Valleys, inquiry was made concerning the conduct of the ministers and changes of residence were made amongst them. Those actually employed in the ministry were changed from place to place every three years---two of them always exchanging places with another, except the aged men, who were no longer removed. The Vaudois were bound to visit the sick; they admonished those who behaved ill, and if remonstrance's produced no effect, they went to length of Excommunication; but it was very rare. The "Brethren", themselves, were great preachers, for there had always been amongst them missionary preachers, called "apostles," simply meaning thereby, "Person Sent." These apostles went out TWO and TWO, generally an older and a younger man. When they reached a house of a "Brother," they were lodged and fed gladly, for all the "Brethren" were taught that God was pleased, if His messengers were lovingly welcome in his name. Many of these preachers were students of medicine, and, therefore, their journey from land to land were what we should call a "medical mission." But, the object was the SOUL. And, faithfully, bravely, and diligently did they give themselves up to this great and blessed work. For a time, Waldo devoted himself to the study of the Scriptures and then (1180) gave himself to traveling and preaching taking as the Lord's words, "He sent His disciples "Two and Two." Therefore, Jesus said unto them: "Pray, ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest." Companions joined Peter Waldo, traveling and preaching in this way, came to be known as the "Poor men of Lyons" Their appeal for recognition (1179) to the third Lateran Council, under the Pope Alexander III, had already ben scornfully refused. They were driven out of Lyons, France by Imperial edict and (1184) excommunicated. Scattered over the surrounding countries, their preaching proved very effectual and "Poor men of Lyons" became one of the many names attached to those who follow Christ and His teaching.

If you want to become a Writer, get a degree in Communications or Literature or something similar. If you want to become a Counsellor, get a degree in Counseling and Psychology. "Education" in religious mumbo-jumbo is not an acceptable substitute for those in a real field. Can we let doctors go to skip Medical School and go to Theological College because Jesus is supposedly the "Great Physician"? Can we let marine engineers skip engineering school and just study Noah's ark for a while in their "Bible College"?

A Minister usually needs extensive training. Most churches require their Ministers to earn at least a bachelor's or master's degree in divinity, usually from a divinity school. Some Churches now require their ministers to earn a doctoral degree. Careers for Christian Ministers. Pastor. Sociologist. Teacher/Professor. Writer. Chaplain. Counselor. Missionary. Evangelist. You don't need any degree to do God's work, what you do need is the right heart, and to be ready to do his will. You don't get knowledge and understanding of God from a college, you can read and study all you want, but without the right heart it's nothing! You seem like a lovely person and I'm sure your heart is in the right place. Having "The right heart" or passion is certainly a prerequisite to becoming involved in anything that requires major commitment. And providing they don't offer marriage counseling or business advice etc then I'm right on board with you, but history teaches us that they tend to get involved with topics far outside their field of expertise, with disastrous results. Surely some training would make the task so much less stressful for the workers on the whole, and make them more useful in their roles. There is nothing more stressful than being set a task you have absolutely no training or experience in, and that may help to explain the incidence of worker burnout at an early stage that happens so frequently. The poor sods a completely unequipped for what they are facing. Having God in your heart or pocket is no substitute. Simply telling people to "pray about it" is a responsibility shift & no great help in the real world.
