55 years ago, where we lived, Malcolm and Tammy Fraser owned a holiday home opposite us. Because they were not there full time they used to borrow items from us and we became good friends. Malcolm went on to be a very good Prime Minister. Although he was a conservative when he was in politics, he became more humanistic after retiring. Got very involved in aide to the needy. He was a good Man.
One of his quotes that became popular was, "Life wasn't meant to be easy." Fraser's best known phrase, generally taken as a gloomy explanation of life's difficulties, but for him rather it was a reason to take on difficult tasks. Not widely recognised as being in fact a paraphrase of a line from George Bernard Shaw's play Back to Methuselah: "Life is not meant to be easy, my child; but take courage: it can be delightful."
And it does take intestinal fortitude to deal with the difficulties of life. We all tend to find a prop to help us cope. Some resort to religion and that is OK if it helps them get through. Others get inspiration from science. Some spend their life in helping those who are finding the going tough. Whatever source you use stick to it for your own peace of mind and welfare.
My prop is Guinness, suits me, maybe not others.

i find comfort in the following:
Joh_16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Rom_8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
2Co_1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co_12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
and then the older saying: "God didn't promise us a rose garden" comes to mind which probably came from the song Rose Garden by lynn anderson/andy williams
