Now you have studied the history of celibacy, some even without loosing their christian good manners. NOW,at the conventions we often sung the Doxology. What made me then interested in the history of hymns and worship songs, was hearing a 2x2 lady saying she was "horrified because the little Methodist church in our rural district,BACAUSE THEY WERE SINGING OUR MEETING HYMNS". Then you find out that Charles Wesley wrote over 2000 hymns and Sanky and others not that far behind. Been to business breakfasts where we sung the same stanza prior our meal. Good to track the history, writer, and why,of the old hymns, beats gossiping. DOXOLOGY,start here. Magpie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/doxology ------------------ www.britannica.com/topic/doxology

Then denigrate them. To me that is hypocrisy.

Then denigrate them. To me that is hypocrisy. ** No hypocrisy! I am very glad the early days workers had those hymns in our 2x2 hymns books because we sang hymn tell me the story of Jesus when I was a Pentecostal. I feel at home with the 2x2 as Christians group, because the 2x2 have the same hymns with us/Pentecostal, tell me the story of Jesus, Just as I am and a few other hymns. So, I say leave those hymns in ours 2x2 hymns books. I might help to save some seeking souls like me.

G'day Redback,Hope all is well your way. Some of the ones they used, words were altered to make them more compatable with 2x2's own theology.. Magpie

All good here thanks Magpie. Trust the same it is for you.
I think it was a complete insult to change the words written by the original author. But then they were short on respect for other Churches and their beliefs. Use them, then abuse them.

We used to sing the first verse as a Grace at Convention. We always sang grace growing up. The ones we learned at convention. My dad and littlest sister still do.

Probably the most common one used was "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow". That was the one we used for Grace at Convention.
Some Churches we have attended have it as a closing Hymn.
