The man who does no more than carry out his instructions, will never get very far in discovery.
From Captain Cook's log when he explored the Pacific.

I believe that it is better to tell the truth than a lie. I believe it is better to be free than to be a slave. And I believe it is better to know than to be ignorant. H. L. Mencken

At the end of the day, if I can say I had fun, it was a good day. Simone Biles I always say that if at the end of the day that I am at peace with the person looking back at me in the mirror, then it's been a good day.

When we lose the right to be different, we lose the privilege to be free. Charles Evans Hughes The tribalism bred into our genetic makeup in the Serengeti works against this freedom. Our ancestors had to be team players to survive. Now that sounds like an atheist who believes in evilution

I release today.
I let go of fear, worry, anger, and blame. I release anxieties and stress. I release the heaviness of today and the weight on my shoulders. I let go of negative thoughts, and keep the happy ones. In my sleep will I find the freedom to know joy and peace again.

I'm not sure negative thoughts can dissipate on a whim, sometimes our bad experiences make us better people, they are necessary to teach us and enable us to empathize with others.

That is saying that people who experience bad things need it more or are worse than those who don't. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people so no, no one deserves bad things to happen to them to make them more empathetic than someone who doesn't have bad things happen to them. I do agree that bad experiences can make it harder to change our thoughts but the more we do it the easier it becomes. It's called positive reinforcement even if it comes from ourselves.

At the end of each day, I thank God that I have a beautiful warm bed with woolen blankets, a woolen underlay, woolen pillow slips and a cosy bedroom with a roof over my head. I’ve done enough camping to understand what it must be like to be homeless and sleeping rough. I have always been safe when camping, so praise God, I don’t know what it’s like to be afraid at night. I’ve seen a few homeless people, one young boy was sleeping in a huge cardboard box that had housed a refrigerator, he was just on the pavement up against a wall. Such awfulness.

I have had the "privilege" of sharing my home with a very appreciative homeless person. We have a lot to learn from them.

How easily one can be fooled by a story with a healthy measure of emotion injected.

One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood. Lucius Annaeus Seneca. Captain knows the meaning of true friendship sounds a lot like many other stories of "faithful" dogs.
Here is one:
Bobby belonged to John Gray, who worked for the Edinburgh City Police as a nighsweet thingchman. When John Gray died he was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard, the kirkyard surrounding Greyfriars Kirk in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Bobby then became known locally, spending the rest of his life sitting on his master's grave.
Bobby is said to have sat by the grave for 14 years. He died in 1872 He was buried just inside the gate of Greyfriars Kirkyard, not far from John Gray's grave.

We can’t always choose the Music life plays for us, but we can choose how we Dance to it. That reminds me of the saying, we can't stop the waves but we can learn to surf.

This is the reason I was warned never to help Christians. You could give them your last dime out of the goodness of your own heart, and instead of thanking you, they will thank God. Give yourself some credit, the reason you have all those basic necessities is because of hard work, and organized priorities on your part. If you did nothing to support yourself you would be living in a cardboard box on the pavement too. How about you give yourself a pat on the back for making good things happen for yourself. I do wonder what the poor kid did to God to be punished by his creator in such a cruel way.

I don't go by or change my attitude based on what people say. At the end of the day, they, too, are judging me from their perspective. I would rather be myself and let people accept me for what I am than be somebody who I am not, just because I want people's approval. Karan Patel
