I will bet dimes to dognuts that he no longer functions as a human in any way, shape, or form. we don't know what kind of form exactly that they get in hell(it would be eternal though) but abraham was able to recognize the rich man as his descendent and they were able to communicate as humans do and he complained about the heat and the thirst which would be "human" things....just sayin' Repeat after me.... No creation, no eternity, no heaven, no hell, no gods, no saints (the exception being my case) no angels, (except my gf) About a million times a day and you will get the idea.

A thread on Humanism should have some Humanism 101 videos. no thanks by BS detector went off a long time ago on humanist/humanism... I was introduced to Humanism first by Dennis J I don't remember who all would argue with DJ from the Humanist point of view, but it was back on the "2x2-CHURCH" list. I guess it was 30 years or so ago. I suppose most of those Humanists would also be dead by now. Following along I saw that DJ had the most problems over coming the Humanist arguments compared to any other religious points of view. That is he risk of the internet and the marketplace of ideas. I'm sure it wasn't his intention to give airtime to Humanism, but if but for him I may not have looked into the ideas. I can see why Humanism is so dangerous to established religions because it removes the need for any gods, and it removes the need for a god to do good. At the end of the day you need to follow what makes the most sense to you. Humansim doesn't make you follow along with parts of the religion you don't agree with. You are free to change your mind based on new evidence.

There hasn't much from your posts to show that that you would understand the moral concept of humanism in how to treat one's fellowman.

I might be wrong but.... My guess is "you protest too much" about Humanism. I suspect you are a closet Humanist now, BUT your peer group, and family are so connected to the 2x2 heritage you can't bear but follow along. I understand if that's the case, why you choose what you choose. As the song says someday "I hope you will join us". :-)

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that christianity hijacked what it needed from writings such as the "The Republic" and others and added them to the Jew books.

Just had to come out of recess. I cannot get my head around how a person can be so bigoted that they fail to see reason. I tried to tell Wally early in this thread that Humanism in our lives is an add on quality. It is not instead of, but as well as. As Xna pointed out that it can replace Religion, but doesn't have to. And of course Christ came in contact with Humanism when he spent time with the Buddhist Monks.
Among other World Religions, probably Buddhism has greater claim to declare itself as a Humanistic Religion. In Buddhism, Humanism is that attitude of mind, which attaches primary importance to human beings.
I find Wally to be a very smart fellow, yet it is frustrating because sometimes he can be as thick as a brick.

trying to retro-actively apply a modern movement to Christ about 2000 years ago isn't all that honest...just sayin' Isn't that what the protestants did?

The longer one is away from the 2x2 direct influence, the more perplexing it is when otherwise intelligent people are difficult in aspects to communicate with. I expect this holds true in general for religious influence.

Jesus may have borrowed from aspects of humanism, but he was far from a humanist. A humanist would not have preached threats of eternal torture and shown himself to be a being of infinite cruelty.

OA you do have to do some extra reading to find the real Christ story. The Christ story in the Bible was put together by the RCC Church to set up the first Christian Church. A lot of good stuff fell on the "Cutting Room", floor, because it did not suit the plot being hatched.
You can see the damage that is done when Leaders of a Country do not have Humanism in their lives. They are not sensitive to the needs of their fellow Humans. America needs a person who has this quality in there lives. We are so lucky in Australia, Scott Morrison is a professing Christian, and displays so much humanity in the way he governs.

Everything Is Beautiful by Ray Stevens.
Jesus loves the little children, all the little children of the world Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight Jesus loves the little children of the world
Everything is beautiful in its' own way Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day Everybody's beautiful in their own way Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way
There is none so blind as he who will not see We must not close our minds, we must let our thought be free For every hour that passes by, you know the world gets a little bit older It's time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
Everything is beautiful in its' own way Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day Ah, sing it children Everybody's beautiful in their own way Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way
We shouldn't care about the length of his hair or the color of his skin Don't worry about what shows from without but the love that lives within We're gonna get it all together now and everything gonna work out fine Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend And straighten it out in your mind
Everything is beautiful in its' own way Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day Everybody's beautiful in their own way Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way

"There are none so blind as those who will not see"? Luk_6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? atheistic humanism and its followers are blind and will lead you into the ditch. anyone that is a real Christian should run screaming in the opposite direction for their souls sake.
