"... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..." Proverbs 8:13
" ... Fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell .. " Matthew 10:28
" ... Fear GOD and keep his commandments ..." Ecc 12:13
" ... Fear the Lord, that is wisdom ..." Job 28:28
" ... Let all the earth fear the Lord ..." Psalm 33:8
FEAR NOT
" ... Fear not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed ..." Isaiah 41:10
" ... Be of good courage: be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed for the Lord thy GOD is with thee whithersoever thou goeth ..." Ps 56:3
" ... Fear not I will help thee ..." Isaiah 41: 13" ... The Lord is at my side; Ps 118:6
" ... There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath torment, he that feareth is not made perfect in love ..." I John 4-18
" ...For GOD hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind ..." II TIMOTHY 1:7
Ok, when I want to be positive I read the " fear not" verses
If I'm in a depressed mood, feel down, I read the "FEAR " verses!
There are many more Bible citations for both FEAR and FEAR NOT type wording. But it would take a very long time to write them all down.
Will someone explain these obviously opposite writings.

when confronted with what seem contradictory verses balance is the key.... I agree. For example, when considering the values "3" and "-3", it's best to find the balance (0). +Fear or -Fear? Split the difference and don't worry about God punishing you, and don't count on God rewarding you.

Ecclesiastics 12:13, fear = yare in Hebrew. Strong's concordance reference #3372, prime root of fear, but better defined as revere, meaning "to be held in reverence".
Job 28;28, fear = yirah in Hebrew. Strong's ref #3374, also meaning to show God solemn respect by regarding Him as reverent.
Most of the time in the old testament fear is better translated or defined as revere. Some places it can also mean to be afraid (godly fear), but usually its simply inspires reverence or awe. The context of what's being expressed defines the proper meaning.

Like Dan has written.... When the Bible refers to the “fear of the Lord,” it means having a deep respect, reverence and awe for God’s power and authority. Rather than causing someone to be afraid of God, a proper “fear of the Lord” leads one to love Him.Someone wrote: Fear seems to be closely associated with obedience, which to me explains the state of this world, because it is only by “the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil” (Prov 16:6). It is obvious the world in general does not fear God, so they don’t turn away from evil; in fact, they choose the evil over the good, so when the world does not obey God, the world cannot acquire godly wisdom.

I suspect your confusion comes from treating the bible as a single book with a consistent message rather than what it really is i.e. a collection of 66 books written mostly by anonymous writers (who didn’t understand much about the world) over a period of several hundred years and strewn with errors and inconsistencies. The best approach to the bible is to treat it as a work of literature covering mostly philosophy and ancient law. By all means read it, explore it and value it but be prepared for much confusion and contradiction (not to mention disappointment) if you attempt to live your life by it. And if you do choose to try to live by it, then the best approach is to adopt the a la carte approach as most Christians seem to. Remember the bible can be whatever you want it to be. It can pretty much be used to justify anything whether it’s killing people, not having a television, prohibiting women wearing jewellery or owning a slave. And it’s generally easier to decide yourself what rules you wish to follow and then look for justification in the bible rather than the other way around. That way you don’t need to sacrifice any beliefs or prejudices you may have. However if you do insist on using the bible as the basis for living rather than making up your own rules, then be prepared for the confusion and contradictions referred to above. Be prepared to fear and to fear not. Remember that despite the fact that the Lord appeared to Abraham, no man has seen God. And if you make the Most High your dwelling then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near you but be not surprised at the fiery ordeal that may come upon you to test you. Matt10

Again not sure where this post should go , so here works I guess .
Ya know as humans today we got stuff confused along the way right ? We made all these things up to abide by . Money 💴 , religion and words . Words man we made them up . Or did Adam and Eve have all the words already when created by God ? As a human , we just want to eat , sleep and procreate . So did humans create the words in the bible & all the other books ? Cause Somethings wrong with the world today I don’t know what it is Something’s wrong with our eyes Seeing things in a different way And God knows it ain’t his ! It sure ain’t no surprise We are livin on the edge people !
So a book still is just paper including the bible , with words added by whomever wanted too . The other 61 books are paper as well . We can burn paper . When it burns where do we go if that is ALL we believe . The words we made up . I am not the original creator of those words and sentences . Some might be shocked to learn that these lines are from .............. 2 of the greatest rock and roll 🎸 bands ever . Again music is a huge part of my journey . It soothes me . Not the tempo or instrument’s . Just the words . It soothes me . I don’t believe in a God , but I do believe in something , perhaps just the universe . Tripping 😆

It seems many still have a concept of the man in the clouds. Even those who argue against the idea of a God argue from that perspective.

The bible is full of self contradictions. For example; Was the god of the NT the kind god or the monster who makes hell? It's just a patchwork of myths. Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Luke 19:27 "And these enemies of mine who were unwilling for me to rule over them, bring them here and slay them in front of me."

Jesus foretold when he was alive on earth read Matthew 13 the parable of the sower and the seed and the Tares. God even revealed His True church living on earth through the centuries in Revelation chapters 11-12.

The Bible is written by Holy prophets and men of God who directed by God to write His plans, will and plans for the redemption of human sinners.Your argument is: I believe what is written in the bible is true because the bible says; holy prophets directed by god wrote his plans. It's true because the bible says so. That argument is the same as the napkin argument; The napkin religion is the one true religon, because it says so right here on this napkin.

For every imagination of a god, there can be a denomination. Each can claim their vision is the one true one, but none can prove that it is so. From the imaginations of men, the gods are born. Which you use to deny. You should withhold belief until there is good evidence. The Burden of Proof rests with the person making a positive claim. "Faith" is belief without evidence.

You should withhold belief until there is good evidence. The Burden of Proof rests with the person making a positive claim. "Faith" is belief without evidence. If you believe something you act it out. So by your words no one can show their belief because they need spoken evidence. Spoken words do not confirm a belief. I try to act as if their is a God. And you would have no idea of the burden of proof as you do not know me. But according to you if you did know me I should withhold my belief unless I can prove it verbally, so again how would you know?. My faith is evident by belief. Its acted out, that's not blind. This is why it's important not to be ignorant of the Hebrew people. They feel thoughts. You think thoughts. Therefore you need evidence the same way. You will never find it. Hence why your still looking for verbal thinking proof in something that never existed. This is also why the language around your questions are deeply embedded in religious imagery/ritual and tradition. You are stuck in that dimension.

*** Wouldn't you say this is the greatest amazing Napin that was able to fore tell the future for thousands of years before the events to happen in great details... Like the birth of the Messiah/Christ Jesus, the place of where he was born, his life, death, Resurrection and coming back to establish His eternal kingdom on earth. Jesus has His Truth and Way on earth. Satan and the fallen angels offer people the counterfeit through denomination churches and false religions and at the end they receive NO ETERNAL LIFE. Satan can give anyone eternal life ONLY through Christ Jesus.

If you believe something you act it out. Beliefs inform actions. You can believe something for good reasons You can believe something for bad reasons You can believe something for no reason So by your words no one can show their belief because they need spoken evidence. Spoken words do not confirm a belief. I don't know where you got the idea that evidence is just spoke words. Spoken words are a weak form of evidence. My faith is evident by belief. Its acted out, that's not blind. You can believe something for bad reasons They feel thoughts. You think thoughts. Thought = an idea or opinion produced by thinking. You must have your own special dictionary. You are stuck in that dimension. We all exist in the same dimension. Some live in a self created fantasy world, and some deal with reality as they find it.

I could write a fictional story about events that never happened, and can never be proven. I could also write in that fictional story prophecies foretold earlier in my book that I fulfilled later in the book. If you believed my book, you would believe I too am a prophet. How OT prophecies connect with the NT is covered in the movie. This literary technique was used to lead the Jews into believing early Roman Christianity. PROPHECIES: IMAGINARY AND UNFULFILLED
