.... is a speaking on behalf of the New California movement tomorrow, the forming of the fifty first state in rejection of the tyranny of the current state.

She spoke of some liberal ideas with good humor but didn’t pull any punches as she described leftism and it’s hostility and threat to religion and family. To quote her as I’m able to remember:
“We are in an all out war against communist forces in our country and state (California) where an omnipotent, omniscient illegal government wills to be God and Father to all.”
We were a friendly audience. She made three appearances I think in California. The New California State president said she was being escorted by sheriffs through California, for her own security I presume.
The seventh annual convention of the NCS was held near Fresno yesterday. Gavin Newsom put the cabash on using the convention center in Fresno so they held the event nearby.

Candice Owens has a right to her beliefs as does all of us.
However, I am afraid that she does not understand or does not accept the separation of church & state that is a bed rock part of our Constitution.
It is that right of freedom of religion that not only allows everyone to decide for themselves their own views on religion but also protects those who are avid fundamentalist evangelical Christians their own right to believe as they desire for themselves.
Many of them really do not seem to understand that it it cuts both ways.

The constitution protects the freedom of religion not the freedom from it, accept where religious atheists would deny the freedom of other religions and the constitution that protects it.

The constitution protects the freedom of religion not the freedom from it, accept where religious atheists would deny the freedom of other religions and the constitution that protects it. I'll have to disagree there. Jefferson's infamous letter to the Baptists of Danbury, Connecticut (where the mention "wall of separation" between church and state) was to assure the Baptists that the majority religious group (Congregationalists) wouldn't be able to pass discriminatory laws favoring the Congregationalists. The freedom from religion is the extention of that. Go one religion further and you have protection for atheists. It wasn't conceptualized as the ability to freely practice whatever religion you wanted, but rather the freedom from religious oppression. The freedom to practice whatever religion you want is not guaranteed, thank goodness. The inability of Muslims to practice Sharia Law is perhaps the most obvious reason to be thankful for this.

Thank you, ipsedixit. You said it very well!
If atheists didn't have the right of 'freedom from religion,' -then we could be forced to obey laws made by any or all religious denominations. Example: - suppose a law that one could not work on the sabbath.
In some research I was doing on my family history I was reading a lot of old newspapers. I ran across an article where one farmer was so irate at his neighbor for working on a Sunday that he called the sheriff & had his neighbor arrested!
Of course the judge threw out the arrest as illegal!

Agreed, -what is Lee saying anyway? religious atheists? I always get a chuckle when people who are religious call atheism a "religion" to discredit it. Irony.

I’ve heard of one atheist, Tim Sandefur, who isnt religious like TMB’s atheists. TMBs atheists believe mankind is dead in their sins and trespasses, especially for believing in God and heeding what they believe he asks of them. TMB atheists believe mankind needs saving by totalitarian government.
Tim’s like a fake atheist, an atheist-fail or atheist traitor to the good atheist. Tim commits the unforgivable sin when he says he believes mankind has a nature on which ruling or societal norms can be founded upon. For example, he might believe in hetero-normative structure, (aka family) and reject the trends of the mainstream, atheist cancel culture.
Believing that mankind has a nature is to appeal to a transcendent ethereal line of thought. This bears far too many marks of theism for real atheists.
I heard recently Tim was considered for nomination to the US Supreme Court.

Someone sure is feeding you a whole long line of baloney and you seem to be swallowing it without even chewing! Be careful!
You can choke to death doing that! (and as annoying as a horse fly that you often are, we still don't want to lose you)
Really. Sincerely, I mean that! ...we wouldn't want to lose you!
PS: "cancel" culture? -what does that mean?

"Sin" implies breaking a divine law, which necessitates a divine law-giver.

Yes. Idolatry is treating something less than God like it is. For example totalitarian government, and the objectification of people based on their utility to government. In idolatry, something less than God is the law giver.

cancel culture: a way of behaving in a society or group, especially on social media, in which it is common to completely reject and stop supporting someone/public figure/company because they have said or done something that offends you...often experienced as a firing or a shutting down of ones web site or facebook feed or pulling down of statues or boycott...etc...etc...

And Wally, here I had thought that neither you, nor Lee would ever be able to teach me anything new!
Now that just goes to show how anyone can be knocked right down flat on their keister. ouch!
Congratulations to you both!

What, pray tell, is a religious atheist? I'm wondering too. I know what a militant atheist is. Atheism is not a belief or a religion. It's a conclusion. It's a relationship with reality.

A religious atheist believes theism and classical theistic beliefs are unhealthy, and teach others to that affect.
The cancel culture is a vehicle whose design is to delete classical ideological and political structures which constitute a firewall between freedom and unchecked tyranny.
