And that's right, forgive her but no more jobs. But then again, she may have changed by now and sorted herself out? As you said it was a long time ago so you never know. But regardless, I would still help her if I saw her in need, I don't mean give her a job, but if she needs help in some way. And my point is, Jesus didn't come with violence he came with peace. And he is our example to follow, he showed love mercy and forgiveness to his enemies he didn't attack them with swords and weapons. They crucified him, and he prayed to the father to forgive them, he overcame evil with good, showing us how to live before God. Look at these verses, do you really believe that Jesus wants us to fight our own families with literal swords? Matthew 10 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
No, I don't believe Jesus was speaking figuratively, reference to a sword was just metaphorical, meaning there would be tension and conflict between family members, i.e; believers & nonbelievers.
Jesus didn't defend himself because he came as a sacrifice, "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour" (John 12:27). Physically, he didn't overcome evil with good, evil won the day when he was nailed to a tree.... But I get what your saying.
Yes, that's exactly what it meant, there would be friction between family members when you go with the word of God, it causes division. Some listen some don't, some believe some don't, but regardless Jesus speaks the truth and those that listen and believe will follow him but they should still be there for those who don't. And, evil didn't overcome good. People think that the devil overcame Jesus because he had him crucified. But he didn't, because what the devil wanted was for Jesus not to go through with it and to go against God's will and sin, but Jesus said, "not my will but thy will be done" and he went through it, even though he suffered in the flesh he endured it. And satan did whatever he could to try to get Jesus to sin, even use wicked men to scourge, mock and murder him, but nothing he did could make him sin, or disobey God. Satan was in those men who were mocking Jesus saying "he saved others but he cannot save himself," and "if he be the king of Israel, let him come down from the cross and we will believe him" etc. But nothing worked, instead Jesus said "father forgive them for they know but what they do" he overcame evil with good and he endured to the end. He suffered it and showed love, forgiveness and mercy in replace of the cruelty they showed him, and he overcame the devil with the love of God that was in his heart. Satan could touch his flesh, but he couldn't touch his heart, because Jesus belonged to God. The father gave him the power to overcome, because he always did what pleased him and the father was with him strengthening him. And he is our example to follow.

Just so proud of my Granddaughter who is working as a Clinical Consultant Phycologist up in the top end of Australia. She was thrilled yesterday to be sent to an Indigenous Community just off mainland Australia. Love her attitude. I know she will not mind me posting the comments she put with photos on her Facebook page. During COVID lockdown and travel restrictions, I found myself extremely blessed today with the unique opportunity to visit the Tiwi island’s. As exciting as it was to ride the tiny yet terrifying plane, and see the film set of ‘Top End Wedding’, I left Tiwi today feeling above all extremely grateful and privileged for the life I have. Meeting some extraordinary Indigenous people, listening to their battles and seeing first hand, the everyday struggles that Pularumpi and Wurrumiyanga community endure as a result of living in poverty, discrimination and lack of opportunities. There’s a total of; 1 police station, 1 school, 1 shop, 1 art centre, 1 Centrelink office. Yet, 400 smiling faces. Beautiful comment, has the empathy of my Wife, and compassionate nature. Just love one of her quotes at the top of her Facebook page, "Dreaming of a world where a chicken can cross the road without anybody questioning its motives". There's a music or cultural festival up in those islands somewhere bi annually. I've been trying to get to it for ages. A few years ago there was an exhibition of the Torres Strait people art etc in the Brisbane Museum which I went across to see. I'm itching to go have a wander round those parts and learn more about them.

Kudos, yes a spiritual victory at a physical cost (loss). But Jesus wasn't so much a victim, as he was a willing sacrifice. I don't think he expected us to sacrifice ourselves in the same manner, overcoming evil with good can also entail using reasonable force to protect & defend oneself, which is a good way to ward off, deflect, and defeat evil.

All the losers out trying to look tough. HAHAHAHA What is it about carrying weapons? It seems to make weak people feel powerful. Well trained and regulated security forces are necessary to the security of a free State.

What did you expect?
Who is going to challenge a bunch of people who even though they are not carrying obvious guns, -they still may well have "concealed" weapons?
After all, they were also the ones who wanted "concealed & carry" laws.

That hasn't been your way of posting in the past.
Please don't start copying wally's & nathan's methods!
That seems to be the only way that they know how to communicate but it doesn't do their reputation any good and certainly doesn't make what they say more believable!

Doesn't it indicate that if they must to use a gun against someone with a knife that they aren't adept at fighting as the knife wielder?

You'll be the LOSER! I'm just sayin' Someone threatened to cut my throat once. I told them ' ... don't bring a knife to a gun fight ...!" You're leaving something out of that story. I was threatened once with a butcher knife to my throat and two other guys holding my elbows behind my back. I discussed where they might find my money, and they didn't go there. So I volunteered to get it for them, and they got about $15 instead of $90.

Treat a butcher knife welding person "nice?". lol But, hey if it worked for you that's great. I think you got this idea from the Bible by the way. It says " ... a soft answer turneth away wrath ..." etc You maybe need to thank your professing days for the wisdom to turn them away with a soft answer Bob. Have you been to your knees yet to thank God for giving you this wisdom at such a dangerous moment in time? 👍
