Indeed a sad situation. It just makes us so thankful that we live in Australia and NZ. But I am still wondering if the Workers carry Guns in America. If they don't then how do they survive. I would never carry a Gun, because I am too slow on the draw, even Rabbits always got away. The other fellow would win the day. Therefore I would not feel any safer with a Gun, it would only cause me stress. I can't see how you would always be faster on the draw. The attacker would always have an advantage IMO. in a firefight it is not always the quickest draw that wins there are a number of factors at play...

Wally, just because that was bad behaviour by Humans in the past, it should not set the standard for the future. Every generation becomes a bit more intelligent. The Human brain size is growing, we should use that benefit for good.
Always remember the Sixth Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill".

The Human brain size is growing, we should use that benefit for good. Always remember the Sixth Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill". look around you bad behavior is on the rise and coming to a town near you soon....that commandment is best interpreted as "thou shalt not lay in wait to do harm" or more akin to murder than killing....

I would sooner live where situational awareness is not needed. One less stress, enjoying love and peace. The attitude of "Dog eat Dog" is toxic.

Which is the safest country in the world? Finland. Safest Country: 8. ... Sweden. Safest Country: 7. ... New Zealand. Safest Country: 6. ... Australia. Safest Country: 5. ... Denmark. Safest Country: 4. ... Norway. Safest Country: 3. Best Countries Overall Rank: 10. ... Canada. Safest Country: 2. Best Countries Overall Rank: 2. ... Switzerland. Safest Country: 1. Best Countries Overall Rank: 1.

Wally I would suggest you got that rape figure from Uncle Donald.
This might be more accurate for Australia.
According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, the adjusted annual per-capita victimization rate of rape has declined from about 2.4 per 1000 people (age 12 and above) in 1980 (that is, 2.4 persons from each 1000 people 12 and older were raped in 1980) to about 0.4 per 1000 people in 2003, a decline of about 85% ...

That is wishful thinking on your part. yeah right, tell that to the 60 million who died during WWII alone, good and bad. was that by a carnal weapon or the sword of the spirit? i don't remember any brimstone coming down out of the sky or a great wind slaying any of hitlers troops or a great plague striking the opposing armies of hitler.... You are a brilliant exhibit of crackpot thinking.

Wally I am surprised that a bright fellow like you has a problem with reading.
The statistic I quoted states that the rate of 2.4 in 1980 was reduced to 0.4 in 2003. In 23 years the rate DROPPED by 85%. Simple Math, even this 81 year old is able to understand it. A good trend, speaks volumes for Australia. And we do it without Guns.

We don't use a Sandglass anymore, only in Parliament. That is used to measure the time that Members have to get to the Chamber before the doors are locked. A Sandglass is a bit awkward to carry around with you, a Watch is better or an iPhone.

That's about as logical as your science fiction posts. ** You down under do NOT live in Portland; Seattle, and California so, you have no clue what many of us in United States are dealing with these days. It's NOT science fiction that I post on here but Science Facts you've been brain washed too many years with so much junk in your head so you get confused between facts and fiction. That's why full immersion baptism is so vital! How else could a person get their brain washed?

God's people don't need guns if they have faith in God. Daniel had faith when he went into the lions den, his friends had faith when they were put into the fiery furnace. And Paul said, our weapons of warfare are not carnal. Those who have faith in God don't use literal swords, they use the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and their feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Paul had faith as did all those who belong to God in the Bible. We will all go through suffering in this world, but those of us who have faith in God don't need the weapons of this world we trust in God. Ephesians 6 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: this post is very ignorant of christian history...i'm sure it was the sword of the spirit that won WWII, WWI the civil war....etc etc... Wally they are men's wars, and they use carnal weapons because they are wars of this world caused by man, there will always be wars and fighting in this world and weapons will always be used, because they are what the world fights with. But those who belong to God have faith and they fight for God, and they have the strength of God to overcome through Christ by the power of the Spirit, they are covered by the armour of God. And they use the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God to fight with. God's people are fighting a spiritual war not a carnal one. Jesus said this John 18 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence And Paul said this Ephesians 6 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. And then the armour of God is explained after those verses, which I have already quoted in a post above.

USA 5.35
New Zealand 0.99
Australia 0.94
I rest my case, NO GUNS.

Perhaps because we are discussing Guns maybe take a look at Murder rates Latest 2020 statistic per 100,000 people. USA 5.35 New Zealand 0.99 Australia 0.94 I rest my case, NO GUNS. We had a right wing Republican Texan and his wife settle not too far from where we live, and our kids grew up together. He was always very critical of our Arms laws, and the lack of a "right to bear arms". He couldn't believe that we would be so stupid as to not have "conceal and carry permits", and what about self-defense? We used to have some great debates. That was in the 90's.
Nowadays, it's a completely different tune, and he totally gets what we have, and the reasons for it. He feels unsafe when he goes back to the US, and cannot wait to get back home.
He doesn't own any guns now, and I do the clean out of any possums if they get onto his property. (Possums are considered pests in NZ as they devastate our Flora and Fauna and spread TB.)
If you were here Wally for a reasonable period of time, you'd feel the same.
We are different to the US, in that we don't have large numbers of armed gangs threatening the civilian population.

2000 years ago Wally, not relevant in this day and age. Don't compare a Sword to a Gun, big difference. To inflict a mortal injury to a person with a Sword you have to be right next to them. They do stand a chance of getting away. With a Gun you can do it from a distance without them knowing, and if the weapon is an automatic, 50 can be taken out in minutes. NO GUNS.
But then the American strategy is do it from a distance. Drop a Bomb that can take out thousands at a time.
