* God takes life’s pieces and gives us unbroken peace.
* God’s hand is always there; once you grasp it, you’ll never want to let it go.
* God can’t give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because there is no such thing.
* Happiness is a marvelous magnet to the human personality.
* The joy of Jesus will be my strength - it will be in my heart. Every person I meet will see it in my work, my walk, my everything.
* Virtue shows quite as well in rags and patches as she does in purple and fine linen.
* How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God ! And that is what we are!
* Every time Jesus sees that there is a possibility of giving us more than we know how to ask, He does so.
* From a little spark may burst a mighty flame.
* The value of person…. is measured in the heart of God and mind of God.
* The highest love of all finds its fulfillment not in what it keeps, but in what it gives.
* Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.
* The smallest good deed is better then the grandest intention.
* Peace is not a season, it is a way of life.
* Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to an all-knowing God.
* Snowflakes are just one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together .
* We have a God who delights in impossibilities.
* If you always tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.
* Don’t spend your days stringing and tuning your instrument … start making music.
* Every time we encourage someone, we give them a transfusion of courage.
* People are like stained glass windows; they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within.
* What we need is not new light, but new sight; not new paths, but new strength to walk in the old ones; not new duties but new wisdom from on High to fulfill those that are plain before us.
* Write on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.
* Never fear shadows. They simply mean there’s a light shining somewhere nearby.
* I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.
* God speaks to us when we admit we have absolutely nothing to say.
* God puts each fresh morning, each new change of life, into our hands as a gift to see what we will do with it. He is the God of the multitude and the God of the individual… He will not overlook your tiniest need.
* I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.
* Happy is the one who has learned to hold the things of this world with a loose grip.
* Flowers leave their fragrance on the hand that bestows them.
* As far as God is concerned, there is a sweet, wholesome fragrance in our lives. It is the fragrance of Christ within us.
* So often in my life… an unexpected burst of golden sunshine has exploded through a black cloud, sending inspiring shafts of warm, beautiful sunshine into my life.
* Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.~ ~ ~

* Every time Jesus sees that there is a possibility of giving us more than we know how to ask, He does so. I usually get just enough* If you always tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything. Sometimes we can forget the truth * Don’t spend your days stringing and tuning your instrument … start making music. Omitting part one can leave part two out of tune* Happy is the one who has learned to hold the things of this world with a loose grip. These aren't convention gems, but semi-humorous little stories for those who are tired of arguing about Venus
The Attorney A very successful attorney parked his brand new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his colleagues.
As he was getting out, a truck came along too closely and completely tore off the driver's door.
Fortunately, a cop in a police car was close enough to see the accident and pulled up behind the Lexus with his lights flashing.
Before the cop had a chance to ask any questions, the attorney started screaming hysterically about how his Lexus, which he had just purchased the day before, was completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter how any car body shop tried to make it new again. After the lawyer finally wound down from his rant, the cop shook his head disbelief. "I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you neglect the most important things in life."
"How can you say such a thing?" shouted the lawyer. The cop replied, "Don't you even realize that your left arm is missing? It was severed when the truck hit you!"
"OH, MY GOD!!!" screamed the lawyer ................... "My Rolex!"
"I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over. Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong? He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.' I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.' Eric grinned.... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before? 'No,' I replied. 'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.' So I wrote down: ID10T I used to like Eric...

That attitude is sick Wally, most people now believe in being humanitarian. Your attitude is in the past and it certainly isn't Christian.
You are 2000 years behind the times.

In reference to the line in red, I wasn't implying that your post was conv. gems, but just meant that the 2 items that followed on my own post were not quotable quotes, but humorous antidotes. Sorry for the confusion.

Been to Portland lately? My sister, who hates guns is even thinking about buying one now. With violent protest (riots) and unresponsive police, your pretty much on your own when trouble comes a knocking. So in some area's. its a matter of being a willing victim or getting a gun to protect yourself.

Research clearly shows that more guns do not keep people safer — they do the opposite. Having a gun in the home increases the chance for accidental injury, homicide, and suicide, all of which have been shown to outweigh the potential protective benefits of firearms.
Move to Australia or NZ where there are strict gun laws. None of this crazy behaviour. Americans are supposed to be peace loving people.

Our laws are not as tough as the Aussie ones, as urban dwellers here can still get a license upon passing the required tests.
I can't relate to Wally's comment, and from our cultural point of view cannot see the connection between religion and guns. It is anaethema to how we live.
However I understand the American culture with guns is quite different. I heard of some little old ladies in the US who would have a Derringer in their handbag that they would take into the meeting. I am not going to judge them on that. I just don't understand it. In return, I expect them to not judge us on our laws. Laws that work for us.

Businesses stores burned down, homes are looted by the wild fires. Homes invasion, bugurlaries are on the rise also. Many Oregonians carry guns in their cars and at homes to protect themselves. It 's like Living in the WILD WILD WEST days.

Ditto I find the spiritual justification of weaponry an affront to human dignity.

And you and millions of Americans brought up to revere the constitution and second amendment haven't been brainwashed? not really its based on a thing called freedom.... One could suggest that your concept of freedom is a result of brainwashing. You don't feel free, unless you have a gun, because of the fear of what might happen if you don't.
In my dealings with Police who travel to the US, I often hear them referring to even being unable to discuss the Arms issues with their US counterparts, because they seem brainwashed. I have commented, that we are all brainwashed to an extent by our upbringing.
While we can have guns here in NZ, we don't feel the need "conceal and carry" in terms of self defense, so it could be argued we have a freedom you don't have.
I am not going to argue one way or the other, and I am not going to tell the Americans what to do, and similarly, I don't expect them to tell us what to do. At best, agree to disagree

what better expression of freedom is there than being able to carry a firearm for personal protection or to end a tyrannical gov'ts overreach?
