"Good morning. I trust this finds each one keeping well and encouraged during these "continuing unusual days.” It is nice to see things at least attempting to return to some form of normalcy. It seems to me one of the greatest challenges is people ( surprise, surprise ) and how serious they view the situation, which in turn dictates their response. Meekness ( submission without resentment ) seems to be in short supply A few meetings here in the Detroit field have begun gathering Sundays and Wednesdays and it seems to be going well with the smaller number. As the others become comfortable we can make adjustments as needed to allow for them to appropriately gather. Many have wondered about the annual meetings at Alma and Carsonville. We have made the difficult decision to not plan for them this year. We do not know what the future holds for future gatherings in the years ahead. But, I am confident the Lord will continue to feed His people. It is uncertain if we will be able to have some type of gathering or gatherings this year on a smaller scale. Ray and I have begun to migrate around the field slowly. As you might know it is unusual for us in this work just as it is for those who are in the work force. Not knowing who is comfortable or not comfortable with company, we are just going by invitation at this time. So if people are willing for company, they can let us know and we will try to plan accordingly. We continue to marvel at the Lord’s work even in these days. Wonderful because the Lord has spoken to us in this world of unrest, strife and confusion. We have a vision that goes beyond this life to see an eternal goal. This blessed hope brings a stability to our lives as we journey towards the goal. Feel free to share with those in your meeting and convey our greetings. With kind wishes in Him, - gxxx -"

I find the workers going along with the restrictions sort of cowardly. I realize their hands are tied insofar as they pursue a strict policy of compliance with the state. And I realize the pandemic is real, although not nearly as severe as the Spanish flu, when governments actively suppressed knowledge of it in order to maintain attention to a war that had to be won.
Two things I find cowardly then of the workers is their strict division of what they call the natural life with our spiritual life. Also, the regular virtue signaling of the sheep disposition, which in most cases, is a path to conformity above all else.

As a side, all summer and fall conventions in both Missouri/Arkansas and Kansas/Nebraska fields have been canceled for 2020.

Its a tragedy people become more risk adverse as they become more affluent. As thankfulness is a perfect medicine for self centered entitlement, we should utter gratitude for our heros. Some are small some are great but they all had courage. In a time when the prophecy of Colossians 2 20-23 is probably being fulfilled, we need to be well grounded in the Christian admonishment towards gratitude in all things. 20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

Lee, How do you know that this pandemic is not nearly as severe as the Spanish flu? That 1918 pandemic lasted 2 years and this one has only been around 6 months.
What percentage of deaths were from the flu in 1918?
Three Percent of the World’s Population Died in the 1918 Flu Pandemic.
During a pandemic that lasted two years from its outbreak in the U.S., between 50 million and 100 million people across the globe died—around three percent of the world’s population.
Spanish flu killed more people than any pandemic disease before or since,...

If conventions were held workers would be accused of being irresponsible.
They can't please everybody.

Numbers of infections and deaths are still rising because of the alarmingly powerful anti-establishment, anti-science, anti-vax segment of the population.

The anti-establishment/anti-science/anti-vax movement seems determined to allow infections and deaths to rival the Spanish flu. Covid-10 spread is currently preventable with social distancing along with effective testing, contact tracing and quarantine measures. It's interesting, while awfully sad, to see this preventable disease play out with hundreds of thousands of unneccessary deaths.

The 25% numbers coming out of the USA are just getting ramped up well these days. 50,000 new infections each day this week. Some places people are having to wait for ventilators. There will never be enough ventilators once something like this gets cranked up. That is why prevention is better. Soon the USA hospital system will be overwhelmed. If you need medical help you will need to join the queue. Once that happens the percentage of deaths to infected will climb. I would not wish this on anyone but it sure is looking like 1918/19 all over again. Except you have three times the population now and despite some wonderful advances in medicine, attitudes in the USA have not kept abreast of medicine. Two million dead coming up.

Why are viruses regularly coming from China?
My uncle believes Covid was weaponized. Who does that (weaponize a virus). I wished I’d talked with him more about why he believes or knows that.

Get real. We are all political and we will all interpret every natural event and every man made event to suit our politic. The sane half of our country recognizes we have a country worth fighting for, a country you don’t recognize as legitimate.

They don't always come from China. The 1918 one didn't.

Why are viruses regularly coming from China? My uncle believes Covid was weaponized. Who does that (weaponize a virus). I wished I’d talked with him more about why he believes or knows that. When something as terrible as this comes along people want to know WHY! So they invent a reason.
It is just the way humans think.
They want answers.
If there isn't an answer forth coming that they can understand, -they start creating one to satisfy their need to know.
It feels better for them to think that there a reason that they can understand and therefore can perhaps fight or at least control rather that something that they can't comprehend and therefore have no control over.
