Wally you just proved my point about the workers and friends. They are more concerned about rules or judging another person then they are about having the Holy Spirit to help them live a kind, compassionate life lead by the Holy Spirit. I have know many "professing" men who hate to shave and go days without shaving EXCEPT when the workers are around. I have hear MANY discussions about facial hair between "professing" men. I remember a very heated discussion after meeting one time between an elder and his son. His son wanted to grow a goatee like most of the other young men in the area had at the time. Finally the worker who was at the meeting spoke up and said there are no verses in the bible which speak about facial hair for men. This same worker had a major problem with woman cutting their hair and used to tell them that they should be shorn if they needed to cut their hair. The wonderful thing about the Holy Spirit is it teaches us in a quite, kind and compassionate way. It convicts us in our heart and helps us to want to be kinder, loving and compassionate toward other people. It helps us to forgive ourselves and others. It gives us hope for ourselves and hope for others. It does all this without those closed to us knowing anything about our struggle to be better people. It is the Holy Spirit that helps us to look at the struggles of others and see their victories in life and not their failures. It also helps us to put our own failures behind us and look forward with HOPE. i doubt it....i did not say anything about rules or judging anyone. i simply asked a question about hiding facial hair or hair length...actually the bible has about 15 verses on facial hair...look it up....nice try though Just to make it clear Wally, this was your response about facial hair verses to forgotten. I didn't even respond until AFTER this post. Arrogance won't get you anywhere. Nice try though.

I know a worker who grew quite a nice beard during the lockdown...and yes, a male worker I know a couple of male workers who grew facial hair -- while they were preaching. It went over quite well, really. Sometimes you just have to do it -- because no one else has the guts.

I never understood that... "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering" (1 Corinthians 11:15). How is it a glory to her when its hidden in a knot behind her head?
I asked quite a number of workers that very question and not one of them was able to give a coherent answer. In general the answers were garbled bullsh.t. Custom of that time. Using it to earn God's favour is religion. Its no different to any other custom, they run their race and something new comes along, this does not mean we should disrespect the custom in its right context but demanding people follow a custom is nothing but a power trip. Religion is great at this. 2x2ism is just another religion like many others.

I should have worded it differently. 2x2ism is part of religion. True Christianity is not religion, a self proclaim Christian is just that "self proclaimed". A True Christian is not self proclaimed or under the banner of any one Church. True Christians could come under any banner. But yes to generalise, quite a bit of "Christianity" is religious.

Wally, I am sorry you are offended by what I have written. I might not go to meeting but that does not me I lump for all workers and friends into one big group. I have great respect for those who follow the bible and treat others with respect and kindness. I find on this board I sometimes agree with you and sometimes I agree with the others. You seem to discard others if they have disagreed with you without even reading what they have written. I find it very sad when some on this board just disregard anything others write because they have written something they have disagreed with in the past.

And how do you keep yourself unspotted from the world?

Jas_1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Who are more the fatherless than those who don’t have the Father? Who are more the widows than those whose support in the church has been wrenched away? And how do you keep yourself unspotted from the world? He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 22:16 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8 Pretty much its all connected to generosity. If you read the verses before wally's singled out verse it makes it pretty clear. And unsurprisingly none of it relates to 2x2ism, in fact we mostly do the opposite of what it say's. My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirrorand, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. - James 1:19-27

What's the context wally? that when done right religion can be okay.... Religion is man made, Religion that God accepts isn't. So unless your infallible you follow a man made religion that is worthless.

WHY? Does quoting relevant scripture send the 2x2;s into sometimes a nasty response??

The fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom. That is true Wally. But the fear of the 2x2 Ministry is the beginning of bondage!! We knew that the in their Irvinist doctrine could by a Preacher or Bishop "could unsave you, then after a season of meetings(if Preachers were in your district,or you have to wait to be resaved from the Hell if they once judged you worthy of)tobe resaved!! Have you ever studied of the instances of instant Salvation in the N/T,lots. It is a wonderful uplifting study... Love from me as you study it...Magpie PS Even instant Baptism.

This "Character of Christ" you keep taking about is a religion! If you just left it as how Jesus lived, -you might be right but you admit that you believe in the miracles of Jesus and his resurrection and that belief is against all that we know to be possible in the natural world!
It is therefore a belief in the 'SUPERNATURAL' religion: definition
-a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

No it's not. Displaying a Character is not religion. Again your basing your argument in supernatural, beings in the sky, hell with eternal fire, heaven in the clouds ect. This has come from renaissance art which I tried telling you ages ago but yet you still argue against me with this as the based of my belief, I don't believe it. If you want to persuade me argue against me from my perspective, not yours. And if you can't understand my position on the unatural events surrounding Christ I dont know what more I can say. It was pretty clear.
