If the straight and narrow way produces self righteousness and control and lack of mercy then it’s not the straight and narrow way The KJV refers to the strait gate. NOT straight. Different spellings, different meanings. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Thank you strait 1. a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two other large areas of water. straight adjective 1. extending or moving uniformly in one direction only; without a curve or bend. "a long, straight road" Similar: unswerving undeviating linear direct as straight as an arrow uncurving unbending Opposite: winding zigzag 2. properly positioned so as to be level, upright, or symmetrical adverb 1. in a straight line; directly. directly. "he was gazing straight at her" Similar: right directly squarely full plumb smack bang slap bang spang smack dab 2. in or into a level, even, or upright position. noun 1. a part of something that is not curved or bent, especially a section of a racetrack. "he pulled away in the straight to win by half a second" 2. (in poker) a continuous sequence of five cards.

A person can and should have a well rounded life. No reason to have a nervous breakdown trying to force too much that doesn't match your personality.

Some people think it is a sin to enjoy life. Some think you have to be insecure and uptight. Some drive themselves insane with this kind of attitude. And they aren't any better than those who enjoy life. Enjoying life and living for eternal things aren't separate issues. Old English Victorian and Puritan thinking makes you unhappy. Did Queen Victoria write Ecclesiastes? "Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth."

Spellings have changed since King James days. The "divers places" mentioned in the Bible didn't refer to good scuba diving sites.

There's little chance of the loony right in the USA ever going nuts. How could they? They are already so far gone upstairs that for them nuttiness is their norm.

WHY? Does quoting relevant scripture send the 2x2;s into sometimes a nasty response??
