I have heard that if a saint is enjoying worldly things, they aren't very spiritual. It has been said that "you can't have one foot in God's Way and the other in the world". Who or what is THE WORLD? Can a person be a sports fan and spiritual?

Can a person be a sports fan and spiritual? depends on the level that you enjoy something does it consume your every waking hour(much like TMB)in place of Christ? i myself have never quite figured out where that line maybe....

I have seen some workers talk about sports or the news. And others who acted like they were too spiritual to talk about worldly stuff.

What all does one consider "worldly" anyway?
Everything you can touch is of this world, including our own bodies.
Has anyone ever condemned a good discussion about a perfectly enjoyable gourmet meal in a fine restaurant?

The Workers had no need to classify things that are a part of everyday life. It was just a power kick thing, trying to control how people live their lives. The good creator has provided all things for our use and enjoyment using commonsense and discretion.

I find the older I get the less things I want. Funny how that works.

I remember a conversation between a man who had just been to a game of football and the two workers of the area. The footballer was not a professing man but boarded at a professing persons house. He arrived home from the game at the same time as the workers returned in their car. They each asked the other how their day had been and the workers said they had been for a drive to their favourite beach to see the sea. The fottballer told them what he had been to and it was pointed out to him by the workers that football was worldly plasure. I loved his reply. He said to them And you are telling me that after you have been to the beach for your pleasure. Or words to that effect. It does not matter where the line is. What does matter is some plonker worker making up rules as they go along. Thankfully most people these days are educated enough to see through their baloney.

One of the funniest things I have overheard came on a day when I went snow skiing with my uncle and aunt and two cousins. My aunt was the kind that would not wear pants, so she had heavy stockings of some kind and a long skirt and a long dark flowing kind of coat. While going back up the hill once, two kids near me saw her coming down the hill with her coat flapping around her and one of the kids said, "Hey look -- here comes that witch on her skis again." They laughed to kill themselves.

First I laughed, and then I got scared. My uncle sent us outside to play.

I find the older I get the less things I want. Funny how that works. I think about that. I keep asking myself, "Do I really need that or do I just want it?" Then I think about what happened to all my stuff when I kick the bucket. I got rid of some things I didn't want anyone to find.

I just label any unwanted junk and worldly items "Property of the True Sent Ministry" with a copy of the registered "Christian Conventions" and a workers picture or two, and put in a box in the basement. Kids will send it to wherever the head worker receives mail upon our deaths.

According to the Lamb-shepherd we are to follow, the seventh angel says
REV 11:15
"The world has now become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ and he will reign forever and ever."
~~~~
I just want to know how to become more worldly in the coming days..
Seriously, Christianity anticipates the redemption of this-our world.
1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Yet the narrow way brings freedom, a freedom through Christ that also brings peace in the heart that the world can't give.
WHY? Does quoting relevant scripture send the 2x2;s into sometimes a nasty response??
I don't think that any of my male professing family members has ever gone skiing even to this day. Way too worldly of an activity.
Can a person be a sports fan and spiritual? I grew up hearing the judgemental, critical phrase "he/she doesn't even look professing". And the less professing you looked, the more unspiritual you apparently were, and vice versa.
Some people think it is a sin to enjoy life. Some think you have to be insecure and uptight. Some drive themselves insane with this kind of attitude. And they aren't any better than those who enjoy life. Enjoying life and living for eternal things aren't separate issues. Old English Victorian and Puritan thinking makes you unhappy.
If the straight and narrow way produces self righteousness and control and lack of mercy then it’s not the straight and narrow way
It is healthy to live a balanced life. Physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially ....& spiritually ( if you choose to). I try to be ‘rounded’ in my way of living.
If the straight and narrow way produces self righteousness and control and lack of mercy then it’s not the straight and narrow way The KJV refers to the strait gate. NOT straight. Different spellings, different meanings. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
