For some, this is the 5th weekend without a fellowship meetings. For some, it was their only social experience. With many decades of going to meeting, this is a really big change for them. My heart goes out to them. They put so much trust in a system and now that has been pulled out from underneath them so to speak. Those living along can't even have fellowship with their family.

I don’t know if it will have pulled the rug out from underneath anyone. It’s an adjustment and I think a lot of people are enjoying it. Probably doesn’t change what people believe. My husband and I are finding it’s freed us up a lot without changing our beliefs. Could stand this on a more permanent basis actually. Get so weary of having to conform to the expectations of people and you’re hooped if you don’t. No individuality. Been told we all want to have the same mind which is the mind of Christ but we find it to be more the mind of men than anything else.

Iam, you are not alone with that thinking. We have a number of sincere 2x2's who are our friends. They are not happy with management in Australia, or lack of it. Their concern is that Workers are doing their own thing and they are not being heard. Clergy must retain a close contact with laity and listen to their concerns. In this day and age dictatorships are not tolerated. People want honesty and transparency.

The over 70 generation is going to miss them very much. But the younger ones may enjoy their family meetings as well and may not want to go back to fitting into other peoples expectations.

I feel very bad for all the older friends. They do look forward to meeting for it's friendship as well as fellowship.
I hope the younger ones in their meeting are keeping in touch with them.

Sometimes it is hard for people to know how to be concise when their thoughts are turned to words. An old lady at convention year after year would get up and give her testimony and speak easily for 20 minutes. The workers would sometimes tell her from the platform to “sit down” and she would ignore them and keep talking. Then a younger brother worker would come over and tap her on the should and tell her to sit down now and she would say “well anyways....and continue with her testimony. It was entertaining but quite tedious!

i don't care for long winded testimonies either but if you actually listen to what they are saying its probably deeper than one might think...

My "one true way you wayward worldling" Gma-in-law is in that category.

I used to climb with a woman who was an engineer at a sewage treatment plant. We were staying somewhere in the mountains when some one from another group asked what she did for a job and she told them it was her job to count the peas and corn and look for dentures.

One fellow here did learn to end his quite consistently with great flair and enthusiastically and emphatically ended with - “ and from the north and to the south and from the east and to the west but the end “. Quite predictable ending and Good memories of him Alvin

It is a common fault (?) in house groups. I was part of one in my local Bappie for a while. One would speak for ages and another would pray on and on. However, some of the others in attendance were okay with that as they just had to listen (or not!). There wasn't the same expectation/pressure to take part. It was kind of like a TMB Nathan data download in a strange sort of way.

The Chinese leadership are dictators. They don't listen to the people. The Chinese people are denied honesty and transparency, etc. I was merely asking if the Chinese have bought up the Work in Australia (in reference to your post)? Okay it was tongue in cheek.

Thanks for that now I understand. The 80 year old brain is getting a bit foggy. More and more I have to say, "Please explain" Perhaps we could use PE.
You could be right, the Chinese are buying almost everything in Australia. Don't know if they would have any use for the 2x2 Church, it is not very productive. But as you suggest they can use dictators, the Workers would have that qualification, bit inconsistent. They can be bribed.
I think the grand plan for the Chinese is that when they own the lot, they will come down and take possession.
