We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another.
Suddenly Disney is out of magic,
Paris is no longer romantic,
New York doesn't stand up anymore,
The Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty.
Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love.
Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for.
The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. I think it's sending us a message:
"You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters."

All told, perhaps 200 million people have died of plague – more than have died in all the wars in history. As carriers of the bubonic plague, fleas were responsible for killing one-third of the population of Europe in the 14th century.
This virus is a reminder that people are fragile beings, and it does change a persons perspective on things when party-time comes to a screeching halt.

Well said Dan, we suddenly realise we need the World, but the World doesn't need us. We have all been guilty of neglect, and taking it all for granted. Maybe Nature needs to give us a tough message to make us change our ways.

Thanks, redback.Spring is here in this small state of Illinois which is just one state in one country on a very small planet in a galaxy in such a humongous universe that we can't even begin to wrap our minds around the idea.
But here we are and the daffodils are still blooming and the birds are still making the nests. Enjoy life.

DMG that sounds fantastic, and yes it is worth enjoying. But when you think of all the energy and human effort that has been expended on telling people to prepare for a future life after death, which is only pure speculation. Would not it have been better to direct that effort to concentrate on what we have here and now. Not for one moment am I saying that would have prevented Covid-19. But perhaps Nature has to give us a stern warning, look after the World I have given you better.
It has been a rude shock that such devastation has happened in four months, and is not over yet. And our lifestyle has changed in that time, and it may never get back to where it was. Let us hope that it does not get to the point where we have to scoot on the grass, or use a rock. And I accept that I have had a wonderful life, and past the use by date of three score years and ten. But have I done enough to protect this for my children and their children. That is why I say we are all guilty of neglect in this regard and hope that some of our behaviours change.
Maybe we need to be more aware, "You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters."

So much energy, time & effort expended simply because people can't accept that death is the end.
It would not have stopped the virus, but maybe we would have learned how to make this life a little better for everyone in the here and now.

I have found some of the comments being posted on FB re OP are interesting. People are starting to think in a more sensible way. Maybe we have spent too much time and energy on things that we have no control over and neglected environmental concerns. Let us hope for the future that this becomes the focus.
Two comments I liked were, I certainly think much differently about what I do these days. It will pass, but it will take time, unprecedented change in the future.
We’ve been here many times before during the life of this planet.
I used to have a very good friend who was a Doctor a GP and a good one. We used to have a lot of footpath discussions outside the Post Office where I was Postmaster. I would be sweeping the front path, he would be walking past on his way to the Hospital for rounds. We would spend half an hour solving World problems. He used to also brew Stout and would invite me to his house as a tester, which was always pleasant. I remember what he said to me one morning, "If we do negative things that damage the environment, Nature will react to correct it".
So at times Nature has to get tough, and take severe measures to rectify the situation. We have not been diligent in caring for our World, look at the extinction rate for plants and animals, maybe now it is our turn.
We remember recently when there were tensions between USA and North Korea, Donald saying he had a bigger button than Kim. We all feared that either one would be stupid enough to push it. The results of that would have been much more devastating than Covid-19. At least when Covid-19 is over we may be gone, but the Earth will be still there to regenerate again.
Not happy thoughts, but sobering ones. Nobody wants to be a Prophet of doom and gloom, but one wonders "When will they ever learn". Maybe the time is now.
