Arthur McCullagh: 1890 - 1982
Missouri Convention stories and dates. After the Sumner convention in the Fall of 1915, Harry Fleming and
Arthur McCullagh went to Knox County in Northeast Missouri to bring the gospel.
They held gospel meetings in the Davis Church, which was located about seven miles S.E. of Edina. A few professed there, but failed to continue.
Henry Robertson and his wife, Hattie lived N.E. of the Davis Church came to some of the gospel meetings and invited Harry and Arthur to come home with them and hold gospel meetings in their community. They went there and started a new mission in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where one person professed.
Many came to the gospel meetings and wanted to hear more about the gospel story, so Harry and Arthur were able to use the Antioch Schoolhouse, which is still located in the same area today. Trouble arose from using the School.
The workers were then invited to continue gospel meetings in the Russell Parrish home. Several people decided to profess at that time and a church and little meeting was established there.
It is not on record how Harry and Arthur arrived in this area of Missouri, it was either on foot or by train? Due to hard times and stiff opposition from many of the area church members, Harry and Arthur endured many hardships.
Some of those who professed there, were also rejected by their family, friends, and neighbors. However, several of the friends endured and continued faithfully in the Truth, until the very end of their lives.
