Dennis passed away at 1:46 am PST this morning, February 18, in Longview, Washington. He was comfortable and went peacefully. He just stopped breathing. I’m sorry to hear of his passing but know it’s sweet peace for him. My deepest sympathies to the dear family and close friends.

Sorry to hear of Dennis’ passing and hope and pray that Katie and the family are doing okay at what will be a sad time for them all. Dennis looked forward to being with the Lord forever and lovely to think of him safe now and waiting to hear the call of the trumpet.

I stayed with Dennis and Ylva in their home for 3 or 4 days in 1996 or so. Fond memories. RIP Dennis. Prayers for Katie.

He was helpful to many, myself among them. He'll be missed here, but Wally said it better than I could. May he have peace.

Farewell Dennis
I don't think this life or this world was fairly sized for you.
Thank you for your life and your words here.

We all knew Dennis time was limited here on earth , as is all of ours , but it just seemed so final and somewhat “surreal” , when I read , he had passed into eternity. I am thankful for his contributions here, and his encouragement to me , personally. You will be missed , Dennis Thanks again. See you at “the house “ Love Alvin Diane Kroeker

If anyone wishes to send a sympathy card to Kay, here's her address. (Dennis affectionately called her Katie. She goes by Kay. Her given name is Kathleen.) Kay Stauffer 804 Si Town Rd Castle Rock, WA 98611-9378 -Brian Jacobsen (Dennis' cousin) Kay will always be “Katie”, with affection, to those of us here who loved Dennis, and thanked God that she was in his life. I have interacted with Dennis for ~24 years both in this forum, and others preceding it. Sometimes publicly, sometimes privately. We occasionally talked of getting together in person, but that was not to be. He taught me a lot. One of the most valuable lessons was the realization that I don’t always have everything figured out, and to be okay with that. Surrender.

I think many of us enjoyed communicating with him because he was willing to identify himself. Some of us, myself included, are more cautious and careful about that. He seemed real...not a fake person behind some alias. Despite his issues with the system, he had a lot of affection for many of the friends he knew growing up. He admired a sister worker named Mabel Gibson who asked children questions before gospel meetings. Mabel seemed to believe in the didvinity of our Lord and Saviour.

Didn't know Dennis well but enjoyed his post.. He often complained of pain, so in that respect, I'm relieved his battle ended peaceably and the Lord took him home.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." (2 Timothy 4: 7-8)

I’m sure those fur babies are grieving for him. Makes me sad to think they’re missing him

I have just caught up with this news myself.
Dennis was a great help, support and encouragement for me and I corresponded with him online in various forums since 1997 (three years before I left the meetings).
I pray Kay will have comfort and encouragement from her faith and will also know how much Dennis was loved and appreciated by so many here.

I will miss Dennis. We grew up together as small children (I learned a lot from Mabel Gibson as well). I was excommunicated a long time before Dennis was and we lost touch until the first message boards were created and I finally learned the truth about the “Truth.” Dennis taught me a great deal and we enjoyed many get-togethers. During our last visit this fall, we took Dennis and Katie up to Mt. St. Helens. We saw beautiful views and watched an amazing movie. Afterwards we went to a country restaurant and Dennis devoured a homemade berry cobbler—he really enjoyed himself! Rest up, Dennis, until we meet again.....Your “sister” Rosalie

Thanks for that Brian. I was one of those who correspended with Dennis in the very early days of Compuserve, and we shared many things. He never told me about the Coastguard though! We lost touch for a while and then caught up again a couple of years ago.
I may not have always agreed with him, but life is not about always agreeing, but how much we can enrich one another, in spite of not always agreeing. My life was enriched through being touched by him, even though we never met.

CherieKropp - "Dennis' story in Reflections..."
Thank you for linking Cherie – I became acquainted with Dennis on this board recently and his posts here encouraged me. And now I know he is home, never to suffer again – and my thoughts and prayers are now for Katie to continue past grief into joy of knowing here and now that she will re-join Dennis and together, they both will know and speak with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And I look forward to meeting both Dennis and Katie in person.

Something especially interesting is the article on vigilant listening by Kevin N. Daniels. That's something everyone needs to learn.
