Pain is like a demon, especially when there are liens placed upon your functionality.
I'm eating ibuprofen like candy.
A shoulder and upper back throb, just from sleeping one night two weeks ago with my head unsupported.
A proper pillow was first conceived in heaven?

Walmart does fine.
The trick is to consistently use a good pillow.
One under the knees does wonders too.
Geezer I am.

Sorry to hear of your pain Lee. The small travelling crescent shaped pillow I find great support for neck pain.

Lee sorry to hear of your pain. I have lived with neck and back pain for 20 years now. Failed back surgery in 2000 led to 8 more herniated discs that they don't dare operate on. So nerve pain is the order of the day. Ibuprofen has been the best for pain, but it's hard on the stomach. Make sure you eat something when you take it. I have a special pillow and it helps some.

I'm thinking my pain is temporary. But usually, stiff neck shoulder or back issues go away in a couple days for me. This time it just wouldn't go away. It made me mad. If I'd sustained trauma it'd be one thing. But sleeping wrong?
I'm getting old. We heal at death's anemic pace, if at all.

For persons with chronic back pain there is an electronic stimulus device which cancels or neutralizes the pain signals to the brain. Essential equipment, for some survivors.

I asked a young lady to stomp on my back here where I work and now I'm getting fired.
I'm not kidding.
The sword falls tomorrow.

As much as some of the chiropractic theory irks me, I have to agree, try the chiropractor or if you have them a physiotherapist Lee.

Essential equipment, for some survivors. Works for some, but mostly not well. My Brother in law had one inserted but had to go back several times to get it in the right place and even after the third surgery he is not getting much benefit from it. There just doesn't seem to be anything out there for pain that doesn't have major side effects.

I was able to get some relief early on but after I had so many new herniations in the neck they didn't want to touch my neck. I was told it was because of a risk of stroke. The treatments never did anything for my lower back herniations so there wasn't much use going on with treatment. Also, all they really do is realign the spine and at this point that isn't the issue, nerve impingement and inflammation are the worst offenders.

Great first line for a poem.
Or to use the full line in iambic pentametre:
We heal at death's anemic pace, if at All, while vultures perch upon the cedar's Limbs while snow falls lightly on the distant Darkened peaks of Kilamanjaro.

It does seem extreme though, even for these times. What's extreme? Asking her to stomp on his back or getting fired? Both. One might cause further back damage. As for the other, assuming the question was absent innuendo, I doubt most people here would even receive a warning letter.

Thank you.
I'm mostly better now.
Three weeks to heal from sleeping wrong.
And possibly from shoveling snow for five hours the night before.

Ok thanks. I had to sign a form for my personel file that said I behaved unprofessionally and inappropriately. This I don't deny, but I don't care. I just care that I upset the lady.
I'm moving on after this spring to a new career goal.
My immediate boss and I have discussed my ambitions.
The Sugar Bowl resort isn't managed well enough to employ all the people they need internally, so many tasks are outsourced to contractors, or left undone. I mean the living conditions of employee housing and the time it takes us to get around to make maintenance tasks are unacceptable. My boss tells me it's common to alpine properties, as if that should placate me.
My advise to him and having spoken to the CEO as well is:
You need to figure out how to attract and recruit more career oriented people.
The ski industry is changing. Years ago outdoor sports and the out of doors generally was regarded almost religiously, as a domain to conquer, realize, and ascend to. Think of how the developing national park system was the cats meow for a time.
IDK....don't you think people are changing? More into their pot and their computer games? Spoiled on spoiling affluence. Fewer people taking pride in the trades, hands and minds on, sort of work. I mean the gondola itself at sugar bowl from the highway to the resort is a work of art. Primitive in appearance, but architecturally sound.
People used to be amazing. I guess they still are. But I tend to notice the evil people today. It's always a good day not to be evil or idle.

It's over. HR questioned me over a separate incident upon which they fired me. Two days after the first incident I was investigating a "smoking" washing machine at one of the wealthy, Nancy Pelosi type homeowners, who direct the public/private resort.
The washer didn't smoke again after two subsequent cycles upon my observation. Busy we are, I didn't disassemble the washer.
But of the three house keepers who reported the smoking washer, I identified each of them as capable of administering the relief my back needed.
I propositioned them:
20.00 for stepping on my back for ten minutes on their lunch break.
They said no. They were uncomfortable.
I said fine.
They complained, somewhat after, -- perhaps two weeks after the first incident.
The homeowner then complained to HR.
HR summoned me and I confessed to my evil sin.
They suspended me without pay.
I said if you do that Ill never come back.
