Donald Calvin Brist was born on September 29, 19¬23 at Ashley Lake,
Montana to the parents of Ben and Vada Brist. Don passed away in
Spartanburg, SC in the Mary Black medical center on November 8,
2019.
Don attended school in a one room school house near the old home
place at Ashley Lake. It was in that school where the 2 servants of
God, John Friesen and Nels Jorgenson came to have Gospel meetings
in the fall of 1934. Don made his choice to follow Jesus at that time a
long with his mother and several siblings. The Gamma neighbors also
listened at the same time and made a start to walk with God. The
Sunday morning worship service began in the Gamma home and the
Wed night Bible study began in the Brist home.
Don went to Roseau, MN in 1945 where he learned the watch repair
trade from his uncle in Roseau, MN. At the end of his time in Roseau,
Don began in the ministry at the age of 23 and continued for 36 years,
spending time in MT, AK, ID and OR.
Don and Francie Dishman were married on March 28, 1982 in
Portland, OR. They resided in Lewiston, ID, Chicago, IL, Boring, OR
and ending up in Estacada the last 23 years. While they were living in
Idaho Benjamin was born. Sara was born while they lived in Chicago.
Don and Francie moved to Drayton, South Carolina in January of 2019.
Don is survived by his wife, Francie, of Drayton, South Carolina, his
son Benjamin and Naomi, of Sandy, OR, his daughter, Sara and Roy of
South Carolina and 3 grandchildren, Raiden, Olivia and Owen. He is
also survived by his siblings; 1 brother, Herb and Karen Brist of
Missoula, MT, A twin sister, Dorothy of Middleton, Maryland, Gladys
Martin of Harrison, AR, Leona and Tom Pipgras of Ellensberg, WA,
Linda Brist of Dubai, UAE. He was preceded in death by his brothers,
Howard, Harold, Freeman, Henry, and a sister, Lucille Fagler. He also
leaves behind many friends and relatives that will miss him, especially
those that he met with in the Sunday morning worship service in the
Woodruff home in Estacada where he attended regularly until he was
no longer able to attend the mtgs.
