I sure love these country greats. So influential on me in youth. I never could guess why my parents weren't charmed in the same way I was by pop music. My dad was a good singer, and my mom played classical on the piano. Grateful for all of these influences.

Vern Gosdin and Keith Whitley were great too.
Once in a blue moon...
Kind of a presentation of a man's need for grace by the imprimatur of women.
I'm guessing it works the other way too.

My first taste of Texas...
I can't win for losing you ...
Simple song....
Country greats.
The beauty of this genre was its candor, and absence of pretense.

Actually the other night I woke up crying and that song was running through my head. Go rest high on that mountain, son your work on earth is done! It's such a great song. Our next door neighbor has cancer and diabetes and we've been helping them with yard work and other things now that he can't do it. He's on my mind a lot so I imagine that's what triggered it. It's going to be hard to not have him around anymore and it's looking more and more like that now that it's metastasized.

I like Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Porter Wagoner, AL Dexter, Jimmy Dickens, Jimmy Rodgers, Gene Autrey, Roy Rogers, Hank Snow, Hank Sr, Hank Locklin, Red Foley, Dave Dudley, Johnny Horton, Kitty Wells, Patsy Montana, Lynne Anderson, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, and so many more. It must have been fun to drive down a country road in a big Buick or Mercury about 1960 listening to the golden classics. This crap on the radio the last 20 years or so makes me sick at my stomach. When I rent a car and get Sirius XM radio, I listen to Willie's roadhouse.
Driving through Texas, I enjoyed listening to the cattle songs on Serius XM.

I honestly don't think he has much longer. Got a call this morning to take him into urgent care again and someone came out to the house last night to re-hydrate him again. Twice this week. We are waiting to see what Doctors are going to do next.
