i am reminded of this saying: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ― Benjamin Franklin not that NZ had any rights just privileges to firearms.... this is what happens when you have emotional kneejerk reactions and institute poor legislation.... Wally, is there a society where gun restrictions were implemented and the result was a bad outcome for that society? ask the armenians....the russians, the jews of europe, the chinese...etc...etc....

What exactly is it you're afraid of if people can no longer own semiautomatic weapons?

Civil war of the absolute bloodiest kind is not unheard of in this country either. They're as common as having boiling water spilled in your crotch at McDonalds.

What a wonderful woman Prime Minister of NZ, Jacinta Arden. In less than a week military style weapons banned in NZ. There is no need for them in the hands of civilians, they should be confined to military only. After all we trust our security to Police or Military. Let's hope the rest of the World follows her lead, and come to their senses. We need more Jacinta Ardens, I love her. i am reminded of this saying: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ― Benjamin Franklin not that NZ had any rights just privileges to firearms.... this is what happens when you have emotional kneejerk reactions and institute poor legislation.... ...or that is what happens when people experience a quickly dawning realization that rational human beings must willingly apply governance upon themselves to ameliorate the devastation they brought upon themselves when they first disobeyed the Word of God in the garden of Eden.
Or, in the vernacular, "We're all so obviously ef***ed up that we'd best make some laws to protect ourselves."

Could you try again, please, in proper English, or properly in another language if that's easier for you? I'm happy to use Google Translate, but last I checked, there is no setting for "Gibberish To English."

It's got my picture on it. I could grow a goatee. I think that you might need to do more than that, Gene.
Looks like you would have to shave off your lovely blond hair.
And you would have forget being able to wear your nice red heels.
I can't even try to imagine Bob teetering up to the passport counter in those red spiky heels.

I have to say in honesty. I prefer Christian hymns & some prayers ( there’s no melody/harmony in Islam music). prayers sound like someone is crying out in pain )This has been continuous on our tv channels at present. I’ve had to turn it off at times. I hope the time will come when the media will say enough is now done.
That is not meaning I don’t have empathy with their grief or respect to their culture/ spiritual choices.

2 minute silence was great but having the Islamic prayer broadcast on TV and all media outlets in my eyes is divisive. Doesn't make sense when the PM herself is agnostic. I doubt if Muslims play the Lord's prayer over loud speakers when a church gets bombed on a Muslim country. Do they even say the Lords prayer in parliament as the NZ govt did the Islamic prayer earlier this week. The prime minister has already had death threats likely from a white supremist. They want the name crusaders removed from the football team. If they start that then where will it end? Are they going to remove the word Islamic from being spoken given that Islamic state use the word Islamic. In Muslim countries the call to prayer starts out loud over loud speakers over the whole town at 5am and 5 times each day. Is there much difference between the sound of the Islamic prayer and the Catholic church mass? From memory the Lords Prayer has never been said in NZ Parliament but there used to be a prayer. The latest govt has changed that prayer. It is shorter and does not mention any god. Here it is. Laying aside all personal interests, we acknowledge the Queen and pray for guidance in our deliberations, that we may conduct the affairs of this House with wisdom, justice, mercy, and humility for the welfare and peace of New Zealand. Amen. I would have left the queen out of it too. Even though she does have nice corgis.
