And how does he really disagree with YOU? Didn't you agree with Dennis about heading to our SW border with guns? Oh phooie! You have all that education, and can’t read any better than that, or is it you simply cannot understand what you read? Go bully someone else and leave me alone! I have never talked about going to the border with guns. Never, not once! Now bug off!
Oh by the way, when the Lord returns you don’t think weapons of any sort will be used? I have no idea what type they may be, however, he will know there are some who can be trusted with them, can you be?Maybe it was Wally himself you thought of that. I did read that someone was thinking about it.

Yeah - parsing words. How does one hold back hordes?

So, is that just more proof of “when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns?” Apparently not in this case it would seem, -since the gun owner was within the law. That also seems to indicates that those trite cliché's like “when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns” - don't really accomplish anything either other than sounding good and making people feel like they doing something about the problem.
But does no more than putting on a band aid to stop major arterial bleeding.

still wondering how an australian got a hold of a gun in NZ, unless he applied for immigrant status and became an NZ'r but then why call him australian then...

@wally , are gun control measures not worth implementing unless they can prevent 100% of gun violence? thats what they promise the END of gun violence.... No! -that is NOT what we promise!
Unlike some people who can only see problems & solutions in "black & white" (much like your avatar, wally) -we are able to see that complicated problems need an understanding of the details and a use of compromise to consider all the people involved.

I'm sure you will keep at it until you will find some reason that you can twist, turn, stretch, chop off a bit here & there and manage it get something that will fit with your ideas!

That's where you're absolutely, maybe stupidly, wrong. There is no 100% of anything. How about expecting that a worker will NEVER EVER molest a child. Not possibly attainable. Anyway, you aren't all tha protective of most victims of hate crimes in the US to begin with. thats where your either ill informed or out right wrong...the promise is just one more gun bill will END gun violence...then they come along and say later...we can do better...so just one more bill will END gun violence....and on and on.... NO -we don't need "just one more bill."
We need a comprehensive gun law that is effective in allowing responsible people to have firearms while at the same time keeping those people who should NEVER under any circumstances be allowed to be near a gun!
Then we need the funding for reinforcement of that law.
A law without any funding to enforce it is like having a watch dog without any teeth!

thats BS... Yes, sorry, but that is pretty much I think of most of your ideas about guns, -BS.

Our "side" wouldn't have to keep at it "like clock work" -if we could get some actual workable, viable laws that would do something instead allowing the gun cartel scaring a lot of people & pulling the wool over your eyes .

Benar, with respect I think I would rather live in Australia than America. Also I don't think gun control is something we should treat as a joke.

I'm an Aussie, who 100% believes in gun control. The comedy I was referring to in the videos, which DMM says are unfortunately not available in the US is John Oliver making an American politician and a gun advocate look really stupid with their defence of guns and inability to do anything about it. Hopefully there are clips still available in the US to view. I imagine I get different search results from here, so perhaps the Americans can search YouTube for "John Oliver gun control Australia"

Sorry Benar perhaps my 80 year old mind got it wrong. I thought it was more like satire, and I would not support that.

Thanks Benar, probably a style of interviewing that I don't understand. But as you explained you 100% support gun control, I accept that.

That's not what you say when it comes to gun laws in this country. thats because i know gun laws generally don't work if someone wants one bad enough or has evil designs on another person(s)....but NZ'ers think they do Of course it won't stop anyone that has decided to kill and that's that. What gun laws does do though, is cut down on the killings of passion of the moment. Or kids that find their parents guns in the house, loaded and shot it. That is worth something imo.

still wondering how an australian got a hold of a gun in NZ, unless he applied for immigrant status and became an NZ'r but then why call him australian then... Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Auzzie's and Kiwi's have the right to travel between their countries without any immigration or visa's etc?

I would have to google all the rules, because I don't know. Apparently NZ guns laws are more lax than Australia's. So because the borders between the two countries are open, possibly it's just as easy to get a gun registered in NZ when you're an Australian as it would be if you were a kiwi. He was a registered gun owner and was licensed I believe. So he would have been legal by that criteria wouldn't he?

Reading in the news anyone who produces an overseas gun licence can automatically get a NZ gun license for $25NZ. No questions asked. The same rules as for a drivers licence. The rules for gun licence will change now

NZ is more liberal than Australia. It is easier for an Aussie to access to semi-automatic weapons in NZ then in Australia.
