Best Advice Ever... !!!
Steve Jobs, CEO and maker of iPad...iPhone etc. died a billionaire and here are some of his last thoughts and words on the sickbed:
"I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world In others eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.. At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.
You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you. Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost – health and life itself.
When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading – "Book of Healthy Life".
Whichever stage in life we are at right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down
Treasure Love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends.
Treat yourself well. Cherish others.
As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300..or $30.00 watch...they both tell the same time.
Whether we carry a $300 or $30.00 wallet/handbag, the amount of money inside is the same.
Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine the hangover is the same.
Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq. ft., loneliness is the same.
You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.
Whether you fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down, you go down with it. Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, have sing songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven & earth...That is true happiness!!!
Five Undeniable Facts of Life...
1. Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy so when they grow up they will know the value of things... not the price.
2. Best awarded words in London... "Eat your food as your medicines, otherwise you have to eat medicines as your food."
3. The One who loves you will never leave you for another because even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he or she will find one reason to hold on.
4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human...only a few really understand it.
5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, YOU have to manage!!!
Remember...If you just want to walk fast, walk alone, but if you want to walk far, walk together!

Ps so much better than debating if Cain's wife was his sister, does those things matter? But to love one another does. Well said. Jesus taught along those lines. He quoted scripture to those who trusted in it, but his message of love appealed more to the outcasts of society. John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I occasionally will watch a mixed martial arts match, and more often than not, the opponents will hug each other at end after spending the previous several minutes pounding the stuffing out of each other.
We're all just humans, trying to navigate a reality with which we will only scarcely become familiar with before making our exit, each one. Whatever may be beyond, to love one another is to live the highest possible purpose "while it is called 'today'"
Just what I needed, this thread, thanks!

Whatever may be beyond, to love one another is to live the highest possible purpose "while it is called 'today'" Just what I needed, this thread, thanks! Reminds me of the end of a rugby match. No matter how bitterly contested the match is, each team member touches every member of the opposing team when the game is over. I appreciated reading the comments Steve Jobs made on his deathbed. So different to the driven business person that he was. Sometimes I think we're all in absolute infancy... 1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

@redback Totally agree with this one and a few others you posted.
1. Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy so when they grow up they will know the value of things... not the price.
I always think just how much most Christians are unlike their bible. Many are about love for one another, as I am, and not about the horrific things their sacred book advocates for. Hopefully that will slowly become all Christians focus on instead of hell etc. Love is what binds us, makes us decent humans and I for one believe it's the top thing we need more of to change this world from one of division which causes hate, envy and violence. Seeing the 'other' as someone different or separate from ourselves makes it easier to 'demonize' others and in their inhuman state, easier to do violence to.
As an answer to Magpie, the reason why we need to point out inaccuracies in the bible is so that hopefully someday it will lesson the strength of people's belief in it. There are many things in the bible that most Christians today outright refuse to follow, because they see how immoral most of it is now. If people learn that the bible makes so many mistakes maybe they will slowly leave it behind and just focus on love for each other, as Jesus taught. Most of the bible is not about what Jesus taught, but rather the beliefs and morals of mankind in a very different period of time. I have respect for Jesus teachings for the most part, but I have no respect for most of what is written in that book. I also see Paul as taking a good thing and making it corrupt. Jesus was about tolerance mostly (not always) but Paul was the polar opposite breeding intolerance and division, imo.

I don't go looking for hymns in the morning but I do listen to this most days. It's not a hymn but I find it inspiring. I've shared it in the past here so I'll do so again. I hope you enjoy it.

Magpie, my contribution for today. Thanks for starting this thread, a great idea. Already the theme is about love, which is much better than hate.
King Crimson – Peace - An End
Peace is a word Of the sea and the wind Peace is a bird who sings As you smile Peace is the love Of a foe as a friend Peace is the love you bring To a child
Searching for me You look everywhere Except beside you Searching for you You look everywhere But not inside you
Peace is a stream From the heart of a man Peace is a man, whose breadth Is the dawn Peace is a dawn On a day without end Peace is the end, like death Of the war.

Lyrics for I Choose Love by Shawn GallawayI can see laughter or I can see tears I see a choice Of love or fear What do you choose? I can see peace or I can see war I can see sunshine Or I can see a storm What do you choose? I choose to love with freedom fire[?] From my heart where the light keeps shining And I choose to feel the whole world crying for the strength that we can rise above I choose love, I choose love I can see sharing Or I can see greed I can see caring or poverty What do you choose? I can see gardens or I can see flaws I can see life or death Coming on strong So what do you choose? I choose to love with freedom fire[?] From my heart where the light keeps shining And I choose to feel the whole world crying for the strength that we can rise above I choose love, I choose love I see us healing Darkness dying I see us dawning as one world united So what do you choose? Love or fear? Oh, what do you choose? I choose to love with freedom fire[?] From my heart where the light keeps shining And I choose to feel the whole world crying And I choose to feel the one voice rising And I choose to feel us all united in the strength that we can rise above I choose love, I choose love, I choose love Love, love I choose love I choose love, woo! I choose love Oh-oh, I choose love

The defining characteristic of ex's is their constant condemnations of the friends and workers. Without that, this forum would whither away. But, on the encouraging side at least the o.p. recognizes that an occasional change from the usual might be good.

A thought to inspire: make your vision so clear that your fears become irrelevant
also , every little thing should not be an ordeal of self-analysis

Still Above Ground.
It's quite a surprise that I'm writing this verse, Cause I should have by now, had a ride in a hearse, But believe it or not, I am still above ground Not knowing how long I'll be hanging around.
I start of each day with a hit of caffeine To help me pretend that I'm still what I've been, But I now take all day to do one hours work And by then I have found out, where the pains lurk!
I once thought "retiring"was something to seek, But sometimes I long for the old 5 day week, Each day's now the same, the weekends have gone, And the only "weekends"are the legs I stand on!
I'm as busy as ever with things in the shed, Mainly sorting junk, most of which is now "dead" But I'm a good collector, I've gathered a lot And you'd be surprised, at what I've still got
So apart from the grizzles and groans that age brings I'm keeping amused reminiscing about things And I treat every day as it comes and it goes But how long can this last, nobody knows.

Me thinks this thread will go the way of other threads and be corrupted. Pity. You know we should be able to share thoughts and ideas without malice, no matter what our beliefs are. That is the way we learn and gain knowledge. For me I class myself as an Independent Christian and will enter any Church and enjoy the service. No need to look at the brand on the door, they all worship the same God. The things that divide are trivia, and really don't count in the grand scheme of things. When we turn our attention to trivia, we miss the greater spiritual connection to God, or whatever you want to call that unseen force. The name doesn't matter, the connection does.
I was the youngest in our family and spoilt rotten by Dad. He was my best mate, and I never left his side in the last 2 weeks of his life, it was 24/7. Shortly before his death he said " Bobbie, the things that we thought were important in life, don't seem so important now". I have never forgotten those words, bit similar to the thoughts of Steve Jobs at the start of this thread.
Think about it, and I guarantee that if you reach that conclusion, you will have true peace and joy.

Besides, adding something?? I've seen you ex's downgrade what we enjoy as convention gems, y'know, like things that mean something to us as,... oh they're just like a bunch of Readers Digest things, Quotable Quotes, fillers at the end of articles, etc. With no objection from your kind over such insensitivity. No, you won't get anything from me here.

Joey Feek sang "Softly and Tenderly" just a few months before she died. She was taken at a young age by cancer. But she was strong to the end, praising God. Take a good look at this video, and also note her young child there with her as she sings. It is very touching and an inspiration, great lady. If you have the time I recommend listening to some of her albums, you will be inspired. youtu.be/24W9M1UWXdc
