I have a link to a video of a LDS guy who was very convinced of what God had revealed to him.... Would you like the link? It shows how convoluted it can become when you don't base your belief off of scripture but off of what God has "revealed" to you. I'm content with what God's spirit teaches me. Ah. Of course.

Gels, What better way to make my point than all of the above posts?
There seems to be a quite a lot of different ideas (confusion?) about what the "inerrant word of God" is supposed to mean!
Are all of those differing ideas wrong except yours?
Either I am misreading something or they are. I could very well be wrong in my interpretation. Or they may be wrong. I do know that God won't contradict himself. I honestly don't think that the scripture Nathan quotes contradicts what I've said. Nathan honestly believes that it doesn't either, but has a different idea of what it means. Sometimes it's not as clear as we think it should be. But one thing is for sure. God's wisdom is different than mans wisdom. I don't think I know or understand everything. And if I think I do, then there is a problem. We can debate about what it means. Someone is missing something: Either me or Nathan. And that's okay. The contradictions in the bible are numerous.
Yet, some people still say that the bible is the "inerrant word of God" and HE (GOD) "doesn't change and is not the author of "confusion,"
Yet, -all of these posts that are constantly disagreeing with one another are just one small group of people who believe themselves to be Christian, one small group that has something in common, -a connection with the group that in my day was called "THE TRUTH" and now referred to as the F&W's.
Yet, just that small group shows so many differences of opinions!
Then think about the whole of Christian religion, -1000's of different nominations, all of them believing that one ancient document, the bible, amongst many ancient documents is the "inerrant word of God."
These are just some of my thoughts & questions that I have asked myself after leaving what was called THE "TRUTH."
They are the thoughts that led to the realization that there is no evidence of a "god" in the bible or any other ancient document. Rather mankind has been the one that "authored," all those ancient documents and created their "gods" in their image.
Then is it any wonder that there definitely IS so much "confusion!"

Ross, put aside the convoluted religious theories of the theologians and pray that God will reveal himself to you.

I believe it's working. We heard recently that Barry Barkley overseer back east believes Jesus is God (the son) and Divine. The Trinity Poll on Truth Message board: 4/2013 Poll Options: You may select up to 4 answers in this poll. #1) I believe Jesus is the Son of God and God (14 votes, 33.3%) #2) I believe He is the Son of God but not God (7 votes, 16.6%) I believe Jesus is divine but He is not God (4 votes, 9.5%) I answered 2 and do not believe in the trinity (3 votes, 7.1%) I answered 2 & do believe in the trinity/triune G. (1 vote, 2.3%) I am professing and answered # 1 (6 votes, 14.3%) I am professing and answered # 2. (4 votes, 9.5%) professing.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=20664 I tried to tell my sister who still goes to meeting that Barry Barkley, whom she knows very well, spoke of this. He was the head of our state and even in our field for several years. She didn't believe me. I also told her to look up John 1. She still believed there may be a better translation of these verses. I haven't talked to her about it since. Curious to to know what's come of our conversation. It was very much not taught out this way. But it sounds like overseas, they have been taught the Trinity- Philippine islands for example?! Is there a link for notes of Barry's message somewhere? Apologize if I missed it in this thread.

I read it on Facebook from one of the friends who attended McCordsville this past year.

There is no question in my mind. Most of these things are widely agreed upon in mainstream Christianity. The F&W convoluted so many things that people don't even know what's true. A false Christianity has been created, and we were all convinced of these things. I began to question everything (as you must have to come to the conclusion that you did), and I ended up somewhere different than you. God is real, whether people want to admit it or not. I've seen things happen that science can.t explain, and I know the transformation that he did in my my life, it is real. As for contradictions, I won't be convincing you of anything. But I've heard the argument, and listened to what people thought were contradictions, only to notice that things aren't read in context. Taking bits and pieces to prove their points. I'm not going to try to convince you that I am right, and you won't convince me that you are right.

I'm not going to try to convince you that I am right, and you won't convince me that you are right. I am not trying to convince you or anyone else that I'm "right," I simply try to show the things that I have learned on my journey in life.
One thing that I don't understand about those that have left the F&W's (TRUTH) only to go to another church, is why they blame the F&W's (TRUTH) as you did by saying that they "convoluted so many things," & that they created a "false" Christianity.
As far as "doctrine" goes they have done nothing different than all the rest of the Christian denominations have done when they felt that the current church was wrong.
A large ex: Catholics vs Luther but the disagreements get smaller & nit picking as well.
When I did my research on the Christian religion after I left, I did NOT see what you said, that "Most of these things are widely agreed upon in mainstream Christianity."
Right here in this small group there is a LOT of disagreement.
As for "things aren't read in context," I find it hard to understand how anyone can think that when we cite how unbelievably immoral "god" was in 1 Samuel 15 , that it is WE who are taking is taken the bible out of context!
And of course, that isn't the only place that "god" told "his" people to destroy whole groups of other people. 1 Samuel 15: 1 Samuel also said to Saul, “The Lord sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt.
3 Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”
