Some young people think certain ones at TMB focus too much on past problems and requirements in the Kingdom. Of course THEY don't have to follow these standards so it doesn't bother them. If they had to look back on their childhood and remember restrictions, then they would think differently. I ask that young people think about this before you attack someone for being "bitter" or "unwilling for the lowly way and the cost of being different from the world".

This is pretty vague. Can you give some general specifics?

I ask that young people think about this before you attack someone for being "bitter" or "unwilling for the lowly way and the cost of being different from the world". I have a couple of views on this. Central to them is tolerance and understanding where others are coming from. Firstly, there is no kindness or compassion in criticising those who have suffered during their experience as members within the 2x2s. On the other hand the young people you refer to, may not have the life experience to understand the extent to which some people have suffered or are suffering – so they need understanding too. Secondly, I feel those who have left the 2x2s 20+ years ago do need to consider carefully how they write on this Board. Sometimes you get the feeling that some feel they know what it’s like to currently be in the 2x2s though they left years ago. They are knowledgeable of a bygone 2x2 era not the current era. I can understand why some within the 2x2s lose patience with it sometimes.

The changing standards within the meetings indicate that the skill of cherry picking those parts of the bible which suit, and discarding the rest, has been honed by more recent generations of professing people. What were once used as directives and impacted on every aspect of one's life, have now either been modified or tossed aside.
Religion is a social construct with easy access to companions, community building aspects and negates social isolation. Unsure how they can do it as it relies on disingenuity, however if young people can choose to ignore the easily accessed information which should enable them to see the flaws in religious ideologies of all persuasions, the 'truth' must be a gateway to match-making and general fun, with a diluted version of the older style teachings running on the periphery.

"No restrictions" is the way forward now. It has been said that in America the only place people will allow themselves to be told what to do is on an airplane. That's why Americans can't control guns, or drugs, or family violence or....

In the olden days, all women looked professing. During the 1960s and 70s women working began wearing trousers and the older workers of that era frowned upon girls wearing "men's clothing". The overseers of the 1960s made a mistake by allowing some deviation from their "standard".

Answering this point again just leads you to amend your attacks.

Anyone old enough to remember the "scarlet woman"? Bright red clothing made women look cheap and s.l.u.t.t.i.s.h.. Have modern women all become w.h.o.r.e.s. because red is so popular?

Just about any person who studies human nature, beginning of course, with mothers.

What you've written there, sounds a whole lot worse before God, than a woman wearing red! Why would a woman be looked at like that because she wears red? That's not the woman, that's the man's mind! I think red is a lovely colour! Poppies are red and God clothed them in that colour, so he likes it!

That would not apply to ALL 18 year old boys or girls. However, you said: "It is also why it is said that human beings left to themselves with no boundaries will self destruct!!"
I ask you you WHO said that? Just because someone states something doesn't make it true, does it? PS. If a 18 year old hasn't learned how to control themselves by18 I don't think a "curfew" is going to help much.

A pastor by the name of John Smith, for one who said it, he rode a Harley Davidson around and preached said it in 1988, I'm Thinking the Gold Coast Qld, Australia, doubt it was an original thought though. And no it doesn't make it true but try asking a few 18 year olds what they would do and listen to their responses.....I have actually tried this and the only ones that came up with a genuine plan of sustainability were the ones who had been taught about boundaries.

Beards were another social signifierWhat should be a church's standard on beards?
*** RESPECT ***
This is the same standard for hats clothing language and all other facets of behavior.

Who says it was men who disproved of the color red? It was society in general. Women were probably worse in this regard than men. And perhaps... red might have started out as a religious motif. About a quarter of our church ladies wear red.

Similar standards exist for beards, hats etc.. And colors applied to men as well. I need not Google all the male equivalents of these terms as you most likely know them. I just recall how SEXUAL red once looked on women. Not anymore. For a woman to appear sexual these days there are a lot more options than mere color.

Quote - "Why on earth would a church bother having a standard on beards??"
That's the point I am laboring to make - they don't. A good church has a standard on respectful behavior.

The problem is that some have made it their business to define respectful behaviour, you know, "these are our expectations and if you don't meet them you are being disrespectful." You can pretty well get away with anything when you have power like that.
