For myself, this is one thread I value too highly to just let slip away.
A song with its number of verses has come to me this AM. I have enjoyed adding some of my own however will not focus on them today.
I am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus (Frances Liverly Havrgal)
I used to sing it, not realizing I was not being quite honest, I was NOT trusting only Him. Now I am.

Another song once in the 2&2 hymn book that I REALLY liked and no longer there is: I have heard the sweetest story ever told mongst mortal men...
Really liked the words and the music to it! Anyone able to find a recording of it?

I Know Where I'm Goin' I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? I got my reservations And I got one for you The train's leavin' just after dark There's always room for a lovin' heart I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? I know my destination It's a' waiting for me I got no hesitation That's where I want to be And by the time that the sun comes up Well, I'll be drinkin' from a lovin' cup I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? Don't you wanna come? Don't you wanna ride? Don't you wanna be there by my side? Hand in hand, holding on to A sweet salvation that is waiting for me and you I know why I'm singin' Don't you wanna sing too? Can't you hear the bells a ringin'? Let the spirit move you Just close your eyes and let it flow Lean your head back, let it go I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? Don't you wanna come? Don't you wanna ride? Don't you wanna be there by my side? Hand in hand, holding on to A sweet salvation that is waiting for me and you I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? I got my reservations And I got you for you I know why I'm singin' Don't you wanna sing too? Can't you hear the bells a ringin'? Let the spirit move you, spirit move you, yeah I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? I know where I'm goin' Don't you wanna come too? www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUsyHVjacJ0Two Sparrows In A Hurricane. (Tanya Tucker) The best Tanya Tucker song there is IMO... I think much of the country music these days is seriously missing something. Grieves my spirit...

Bendle, what a great collection of eclectic and laid-back songs, all with strong melodies and solid lyhrics. I didn't care for Ash, Massive Attack or Muse, but really liked all the rest. I have not heard that Boz song before, or heard Beth Orton, but like them both. Love Beth Orton's voice. If you like the gentler Neil Young, his recent 'Heart of Gold' concert DVD continues in a more introspective vein. Maybe you've seen it? The 'Village Green Preservation Society' was written by Ray Davies, one of my favorite writers and performers since the 60s. 'Mercy Now' sounded familiar and then I remembered seeing Joe Crookston perform the song last year. There are a couple of his performances of that song on youtube, but unfortunately taken on a smartphone camera. Even a bit of Led Zep, and the Boxer is Paul Simon at his very best. If I could list a song or two in this vein I could list a hundred, but here are a couple you might not have heard before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGJtAdRJnecWas he planning only for believers, or for those who just had faith? Did he envision all wars that were fought in his name? Did he say there was only one way to be close to him? When God made me. Did he give me the gift of voice so some could silence me? Did he give me the gift of vision not knowing what I might see? Did he give me the gift of compassion to help my fellow man? When God made me. When God made me. When God made me. Some Irish performers - www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWUsSawPeVgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=csaHks2gydQwww.youtube.com/watch?v=1lhNWVsvv5QBetter stop here.

"I'm No Stranger To The Rain" (Keith Whitley) www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlF2p1UPt8Y
I'm no stranger to the rain I'm a friend of thunder Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me I've fought with the devil Got down on his level But I never gave in, so he gave up on me
I'm no stranger to the rain I can spot bad weather And I'm good at finding shelter in a downpour I've been sacrificed by brothers Crucified by lovers But through it all I withstood the pain I'm no stranger to the rain
But when I get that foggy feeling When I'm feeling down If I don't keep my head up, I may drown But it's hard to keep believing I'll even come out even While the rain beats your hope in the ground And tonight it's really coming down
I'm no stranger to the rain But there'll always be tomorrow And I'll beg, steal, or borrow a little sunshine And I'll put this cloud behind me That's how the Man designed me To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane I'm no stranger to the rain
Oh, no, I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm no stranger to the rain I'm a friend of thunder Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me But I'll put this cloud behind me That's how the Man designed me To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane I'm no stranger to the rainOh, no, I'm no stranger to the rain

"Strong Enough To Bend"(Tanya Tucker) vimeo.com/50924460 There's a tree out in the back yard, That never has been broken by the wind. And the reason it's still standin' It was strong enough to bend.
For years we have stayed together, As lovers and as friends. What we have will last forever If we're strong enough to bend.
When you say somethin' that you can't take back, A big wind blows and you hear a crack. When you say "Hey, well, I might be wrong," You can sway with the wind till the storm is gone. (Sway with the wind till the storm is gone.)
Like a tree (Like a tree) Out in the back yard, That never has been broken by the wind. Our love (Our love) Will last forever, If we're strong enough to bend.
When you start thinkin' that you know it all, A big wind blows and a branch will fall. When you say "Hey, this job takes two," We can sway with the wind till the skies turn blue. (Sway with the wind till the skies turn blue.)
Like the tree (Like the tree) Out in the back yard, That never has been broken by the wind. Our love (Our love) will last forever, If we're strong enough to bend. Our love (Our love) will last forever, If we're strong enough to bend.

"When Can I See You."[?]-(again)(Babyface) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee9SCW91urELove pretty much everything about this song: The guitar, the tune, the meaning, the memory it evokes in me at the time this came out.

I love music, it makes my soul sing, and although I love hymns, some pop songs go right through my heart. This is one, it's not meant to be about God, but its how I think of him in my heart, and I'm always saying how amazing he is! When it says about no sin. I mean in God not me, and at the end I think of he's, and not it's. You'll see what I mean. But anyway it's beautiful, and the instrumental in the middle goes straight to my heart, especially when I listen to it loud whilst cleaning my kitchen. I hope you like it. And what songs/hymns do any of you like? P.s. they've written some of the lyrics wrong on parts in the video I don't look at the video anyway, I just listen youtu.be/byRQE4zbzV4Thanks for starting this thread, Maryhig. I love music too and am very thankful for that God-given GIFT! It really is a gift and good for our mind, heart, and soul. I come from a highly musical family and glad that my parents and many others encouraged us and supported us with our music throughout our lives. When I was a kid I would come home from school and disappear into my bedroom with my guitar for a couple of hours. No one told me to do this. My mom and dad never ever told me I had to practice. It just came natural and they let me spend the time and explore all that music had to offer...so GRATEFUL!! Also, music in my family growing up was a time of harmony (most of the time)...and as we would work up a song and figure out the harmonies and instrumentals...that took some working, cooperating, humilty, to figure out who was going to sing what and how. There were times when you needed to let someone else shine and be the supportive singer to the lead singer. It seems like [if I remember correctly], that it all eventually worked out and came around to produce something beautiful and wonderful and rich.

Amazing Grace is another hymn the 2x2s do not support. Which is one of my favorites. I especially like the bagpipe instrumental version of it. Love Andre Rieu.
