I live near evergreen state college its an expensive school so MOST(not all) people who go there come from wealthy families and time and again I see rich kids that are totally unhappy(you see this in Hollywood too) and they do really stupid things like steal, get stoned everyday, etc...now why would they do that knowing all the advantages that come from being rich? many drop out and reject their parents wishes of getting a higher education or doing anything with their life. Satan did the same thing he had it all and rejected God and his ways thinking he had a better plan...
You are comparing apples and oranges if you think you can compare a life of riches and a possibly dysfunctional human family with an all powerful God and a supposedly perfect heaven situation. Big difference. Any angel that thought he could defeat an all powerful being, and they would know that, doesn't make any sense at all, unless the situation was so dire they needed to at least try. isn't that what a metaphor is?
A metaphor is a figure of speech that identifies something as being the same as some unrelated thing for rhetorical effect, thus highlighting the similarities between the two...

Well of course, Roselyn T!
By now surely you realize that Wally is only black & white, -no grey areas! Black & white with a sword no less! It is all in his avatar!
OOPS! Well, there is a little green in there. Wonder if that stands for "envy ?" As in, "green with envy."
Why would Wally be envious? Silly extrapolation. I was only describing the picture he has as his avatar because it isn't completely black & white but has some green in it
However, Now that you mention it, maybe he is green with envy because he sub-consciously envies some of us that are free.
OOPS! Just noticed your user name is emerald! Green right?

Wally the grey areas I am talking about I have discussed above ! Bipolar, alcoholism, infidelity & how this effects a marriage and that there are cases where there is no option but divorce. Are you saying a person has to stay married no matter what ? That if the other person divorces them because they want to do there own thing the person left to raise the children has to just put up with it ? nope not saying that at all, just a friendly little reminder that being "grey" is not really that good of a position Sometimes we are in a grey area whether we like it or not !

In my world I believe we should be guided by love and compassion and if it contradicts what an old book says then the book is wrong. Love and compassion are more important. Me too. And mercy.

There was nothing wrong with Heaven! Lucifer, Satan, call him what you like, wanted to be God. So God cast him out, along with the Angels that Satan had corrupted into agreeing with him. Read what Wally and Maryhig have written. Neither have said that Satan was unhappy. I said Satan was unhappy. Why else would anyone rebel if they were totally, 100% happy? People just don't like to think there may be something wrong with heaven after all. Some people have everything, and don't appreciate it and want more, look at spoilt children. Some are never happy and become completely self-centred as adults! Whereas children who aren't spoilt are grateful for what they have. For example; look at some rich people, they have billions, and it's not enough. They want more and more and selfishness and greed sets in. Then also a child who won't share a big bag of sweets and they just want them all for themselves. But also wants the other children's too! And they get cheeky and won't listen or help their parents the more spoilt they get. And as adults become completely self centrered and above themselves. I feel Satan is like that. He wasn't happy with what he had, and wanted what God had. Even though he was well looked after, jealousy and selfishness crept in. When these things come into our hearts, we don't care about others It's all me, me, me. I've seen it many times! That's why God wants us to remain humble. So that without self pride and building up, we will care about others. Unlike Satan, who pulled down a third of others with him (remember 2 thirds didn't listen, so it must be a wonderful place ). God wants us to lift people up, not pull them down! By being a good example, not a bad one! If Gods people go wrong and purposely sin, then he has to let us go through the consequences, or else we become spoilt and arrogant! That's why it's not good to put anyone on a pedestal, and for us to be grateful for what we have, remaining humble. With an open soft heart that God can use. Who will have thought for others, not just themselves! That's why in God, it's better to remain a servant, than to try and be the king. And God will lift up those he thinks are worthy!

These were angels, not humans. Just because more stayed than took part in the uprising doesn't mean a thing. Quantity does not indicate truth. They were likely to scared and knew they couldn't win so played it safe. Which is what I think many humans do when they say to me I should just believe 'in case it's true'.
