Anyone got advice how to find/buy a couple (affordable, whatever that means today!) brush goats in SW Washington State and ASAP? Tried a small animal auction today, and every goat was selling in the $120.00 range as a Mexican meat buyer was buying everything unless a person waited and bought an entire pen of some 20 goats for 60$ each! Tried to buy from the buyer of everything, but he would not sell anything for less than twice what he was paying for them. We really need two!

Why, thank you Wally, knew you lived somewhere in the region, just not so close by! Grin, do you like tame "venison" for dinner or breakfast? If so, once they have done their work... Sad but hungry anticipatory visualizations, pondering sharing a meal of delicious chevon...

Thank you for all your effort on our behalf, Wally. Yesterday we went back to a small animal auction, and although there were no goats there, we got the name and details of someone who had several wethers for sale and got two of them. She even delivered them! They are busy munching, kind of delightful creatures to those like us who are "kind to dumb animals."
Eventually as other things get taken care of, we will have an 'ole MacDonald" type of self supporting country small acreage farm. Katie has never had such before and she loves the idea so far. I have been a canine breeder, shepherd, goatherd, small dairy and pig farmer, chicken, duck, quail, pheasant, turkey, goose keeper, and egg producer/incubator, and horse, mule, cow, calf and steer raiser before getting so very I'll with my heart over a decade ago. As I slowly recover from last fall's surgery, I look forward to returning to as much of that as I possibly can, for I really enjoy the critters!
Must make some plumbing repairs to day, so must soon shut off the water for a spell. One of the good things in my life's experiences was the working exposure to a less "citified" way of life, and always enjoyed doing chores and helping out in as many ways as anyone would let me, mechanical, construction, electrical, plumbing, computers, even plowing and milking, feeding livestock, veterinarian assistance, etc. So that was good experience for life since.
Thank you, again, Wally.
