I would have thought that the worker who is in charge of each convention ground is responsible for who is allowed on the grounds. He would be liable if Chris was caught on the grounds & the authorities found out. Chris can't be allowed to do whatever he feels like, or David Leitch really should be responsible as he runs the show in Vic. Ultimately the organisation is responsible, even if they don't think they are ! Without reading all this thread it appears we are now discussing a what if... situation. However on one hand people constantly state on here that the workers have too much control and on the other hand they expect them to take total control. It is everyones responsibility to speak up. If the man is there illegally - call the police. If 'the people' take control, the workers wont have to. Isn't that what people want??

I was addressing the statement that the owners/workers/man in the street could somehow be held legally responsible if they invited a convicted felon to a gathering that would be against the conditions of his court orders.

Such as the issue of owners being sued for allowing a known abuser stay on a convention ground and abuse occurring? It seems that there wold certainly be grounds for a lawsuit. Same with a meeting home.

Scott ~ If I was the owner of a convention grounds or had a meeting in my home, I believe I would take that possibility seriously for fear of legal repercussions as well as potential harm? Honestly, why would any decent person invite a person with a warped mind into their fellowship meetings anyway? If there was any justification for ex-communication among the 2x2's, I believe the shoe definitely fits here with convicted CSA offenders? JMT

Same with a meeting home. The discussion was around who was legally responsible for ensuring an individual was abiding by court orders. If abuse occurred it would be the criminal alone who would be responsible unless it could be determined that others aided and abetted the criminal in the commission of the crime. I suppose that a case could be formulated stating that the owner, by allowing the known abused to stay, was aiding them but then the case would have to be made that the owner was responsible for the actions of everyone staying on the convention grounds. If there was a known abuser and unattended children were abused, in addition to the criminal being charged for abuse, those who left the children unattended, in what they knew was a potentially dangerous situation, could be charged with child neglect. Again, looking at criminal and not ethical considerations.

JMT I would think homeowners, elders, parents and workers would all have the right thing in mind to protect the children as the children are the promise of the future of the organization! Thereby workers allowing a peer who they know that had abused a child on to conv. grounds or in a meeting where children may well be....should be that the workers allowing this should be excommunicated along with the perp! Same way with the homeowners...but then it is their home after all and if they prefer to have their homes permeated by such sick folks...then I think the parents would do better by themselves and not attend that said mtg. place.....and be adamant about not attending there in the workers' questions of the matter! Most of all, we have to look at what has occurred in the recent past that's been related by conv. ground owners and that is when preps start, the owners lose their "owner" status and the workers take right over. I hate to say it, but I say this happen myself! I saw no way that these ground owners could have taken back their ownership during preps or conv. without really causing a lot of problems and likely would have lost the conv. being held there...which I think this has happened when whoever owned a conv. ground has bucked up against a worker's ideas or desires during preps or conv. It really sounds bad to know that people have allowed the workers total control throughout the years and each year the control seems a little more so and thus is the reason we have workers who think that they are standing in Jesus place between the people and God.....taking more upon themselves then what is really recommendable. but all this comes from having no written rules but having strict verbal rules, etc and traditions......all about works not grace, mercy!

TO,Sharingtheriches, Well written. Wish parents went elsewhere when we were kids, even to local church, than have us subjected to a sick brutal cunning paedophile. This was one of the three workers who Pelageos wrote about on Workers Friends and Ex Board causing the tragic demise of her brither
