Back to the subject of angels: I do believe in angels and have had angel encounters. One of my secret wishes is that someday one of my favorite songwriters will write a song about angels. I would love see that happen. fwiw-bop

But, I have to admit, I do enjoy asking good questions and challenging other people to think! (or, to think outside the box about possibilities). fwiw-bop . ... .. . . what/[who] kinds of people do you like to challenge to think ?

Since you asked...I'll let you in a little characteristic of mine. It's particularly satisfactory when I challenge someone to think who already knows a LOT anyway. Let's face it, some people are more knowledgeable than others. The knowledgeable person has maybe already thought of things other people haven't. So, when/if I can bring a new thought into their mind or challenge their mind that is already full of knowledge, that is rewarding for me. I don't know if this makes any sense to anyone here or not. It's not that I don't think other people are worth challenging; they are. But it's more challenging for me to challenge the thinking of someone who already knows a lot. I like to get the wheels turning, so to speak. fwiw-bop

There can be thoughts of self-criticism that can creep in from the very get go; doubts that literally stop a person from ever trying before they ever get started. Negative thinking; ("I'll never be able to write something like that.") and ("It's not good enough.") As well as expectations of perfection without enjoying the PROCESS. Then there are the plateaus we sometimes reach and cannot seem to get off of. We've come this far and then there is the frustration of being sort of stalled. I say, learn to throw out the negative thoughts and rules that typically govern and allow yourself freedom to accept whatever comes to mind without the rigid thinking and perfectionist tendencies that can put a damper on creative endeavors. It's okay. No one's really going to 'grade your paper' here and this is not an examination you have to pass. You don't even have to study if you don't want to. You don't have to grade your own paper either and no one is going to grade your paper if you don't want them to. What are you afraid of?

It's just that I'm not sure where to start in writing a song about angels. In the past, many songs have just 'come' to me at the same time as a catchy tune; like while driving the car and I have to pull over quickly and write it down on any scrap of paper I have on hand before I forget the words that came. I cannot predict when the words will come or when the tune will come. Sometimes it just seems to flow. Other times; not. I've been accused of having too much time on my hands after I've written a song....such is not the case, trust me. But, it does take some time and effort to get it all down and tweak it just so. I admit, I am my own worst critic at times and I want it to be good. I personally believe that angels are working among us all the time. Maybe I'm even entertaining an angel unawares by writing this. fwiw-bop

. ... .. . . . sometimes we have the right words and at other times we are at loss for words ----sometimes we have said the wrong words, even .. but we rarely go wrong by listening I'm not so sure about that. Sometimes we listen and buy into things are not necessarily good for us. . ... . .. i wasn't really referring to that ! i was more referring to those situations in which it seems like no matter what you say at a particular moment, the words would be 'lost' anyways or taken the wrong way .. and then there are just those times when we really have said the wrong things .. maybe it's better just to listen to what the other person has to say without needing to jump in and say things ourselves .. anyways, we 'say' so much that is non verbal anyways .. . a sizable portion of our communication is non-verbal .. . and a smile can convey so much, just as a frown can .. our posture says a lot about us too .. . it might tell someone whether we are having a bad day or feeling bad or feeling fatigued or it might tell someone if we are feeling good .. it also tells someone how open we are to what they have to say .. do we throw our hands up in the air and stomp off ? well, that tells people a lot about our attitude, does it not .. ?? and then there is tone of voice , which conveys whether or not we are losing our patience or feeling like making a snide remark are we WILLING to listen or do we just tune someone out ? willingness to slow down, //pause and really listen says a lot even if we aren't the one doing the actual talking ----this is more important than a lot of people realize ...

Well, if it were me I would just start by brainstorming your random thoughts about angels. And, your thoughts would likely be based upon personal experience you may have had with angels or testimonials from others about angel encounters and dealings. Also, open yourself to the concept that most likely you HAVE entertained angels unawares...or that an angel was involved somehow, unbeknownst to you. During this initial random brainstorm phase anything goes and you are free to write anything down that comes to your mind. Maybe there was a situation in which someone should have died, but didn't. Maybe there was a situation in which someone was kept out of harms' way (miraculously). Maybe some of those blessings in disguise are tied in with the work of angels. The possibilities are numerous, really. Don't block your thinking into such that you have to write the song in 15 minutes tops or it doesn't count. Not all songs are going to come forth that easy. Some may, but not all.

Take pencil and blank staff paper, start pecking on the piano 'til you get a melody going, -note it on your blank staff paper.
Then put words to it! viola! a song about angels!

How about "borrowing" the melody of "Amazing Grace?"

I know that feeling, though, - to "tweak it just so."
I think we have to be our own worst critic in order to do a good job.
I Just do envy people like John Lennon who could write something so quickly & get it perfect.
Also Isaac Asimov who wrote so many books and was said to never had to make a second draft.

To answer your question there were angels in that van with me that day. I felt them and I heard them. I walked away after rolling it 2 and 1/2 times and walked away. the old man that ran down the hill fully expected to find someone dead or badly injured, he asked me if I was ok and I said just cold it was very cold out at 7am when I wrecked. I audibly heard a voice say, you are not going to die but this is going to hurt..I felt/saw my step dad, my grandpa, my son and my friend's son and felt their presence with me I always think of them as my guardian angels, maybe that is just the form angels take around me, because it comforts me I don't know, but I do know that angels exist and one of my favorite verses in the Bible is the one about being careful for we never know when we might be entertaining angels so I do believe they come in physical form sometimes to test us.

They are believed to be ministering angels sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14). They are here to watch over believers and non-believers from getting harms, until theirs journey on earth is fulfilled or completed. I've never met any, nor do I know of anyone who has met one. .. Getting a thinking person to think .. Huh .. Yeah that's challenging .. But rewarding I've been described as a 'thinker' ever since I was a baby...This can be both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes I can't stop thinking about certain things that I would be better off giving a rest to....but I am aware of this tendency and have tried to train myself to really think when I NEED to think; to use my brains when I need to and at other times to let go and try not to think so much as this has contributed to insomnia. There are different types of thinking though; sometimes, it's fun to just let your mind fly and take on various creative journeys. That's one type of thinking. Sometimes it's fun to brainstorm and see what you come up with. But, I have to admit, I do enjoy asking good questions and challenging other people to think! (or, to think outside the box about possibilities). fwiw-bop I must admit that I enter totally into your problems of insomnia For more that 20 years I have dealt with this. Some of my (anyone's) best thoughts can come in the middle of the night. There is nothing you can do about that other than to medicate. Sometimes I have gotten up a 2AM and written down my thoughts. Weird but I can't help it.

There might be some angels on this board. How would we know Nathan? Do you suppose people can be angels themselves and not know it? I have never felt like an angel but a picture was taken of me many years ago and there appeared a halo reflection on the ceiling above my head. I have kept that picture because that may never happen again.

The angels of the Lord, come to us in many forms.... appear in dreams to answer our prayers, given us direction, where to go, what to do in life. When I was 18 yrs old, I had a vision from the goddess of mercy/Buddhism telling me this, "What Christ has offered to you is better than what I can give you." Another time, I asked God for direction, "Should I offer for the work again in Oregon?" The answer came was, "Go to Oregon." I started in the work 1986.
The angels of the Lord are the same as today, like they were in the Old Testament and the New Testament days! They are believed to be ministering angels sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14). They are here to watch over believers and non-believers, guiding people to Christ, protecting people from the EVIL ones, until theirs journey on earth is fulfilled or completed.
Nathan ~ I enjoyed what you shared above. A number of people I know have witnessed similar encounters in their dreams ~ both believers and non-believers. So, there must be something to the existence of angels amongst us?
Yes, I do believe angels are "ministering spirits" in our lives to guide us in the right direction and to protect us from harm. They also guide people to belief in Christ through various circumstances. I guess "guardian angels" really does fit the picture regarding their mission in this earth?

NathanB said
They are here among us in human forms just like in the Old Testament and New Testament time. They have been Working with the US Naval Intelligence and with our Scientists since 1930s. To prove to US government and other nations, they are the GOOD guys! They are HERE to help mankind.
If they are working for the US naval Intelligence is there a chance that they are Satans angels?

A guy at work told me a bit about angels and I'd like some help on this as I cannot verify it in the bible. Maybe I'm blind. He said that one third of Gods angels were cast out of heaven when God cast Satan out. These are now Satans angels. The demons in the chap living in the graveyard are actually Satans angels. As I said, I'm a bit stumped on this one. Has anyone got some biblical proof that this is so?
