If Kuhn their leader can be believed they may have topped out at 200,000 it was never that big of a movement it was probably way less than that. the KKK was the bigger concern at about 5 million members.

Dan should value his "freedom from religion". Otherwise he'd not have the choice to believe or practice what he believes. Heck, the government could be capable of deciding the likes of Michael Flynn would decide what denomination would get his tax donations.
That's a contradiction? If the constitution guaranteed the freedom from religion, Christianity wouldn't be allowed and Dan wouldn't have a choice! Dan, -that is crazy!
You sometimes have the weirdest misinterpretations! (in fact, more often than not! )
The "constitution guaranteed people the freedom from religion" -is not saying "Christianity is forbidden
For it to happen that "Dan" to not have a choice to practice Christianity, the "constitution would have to "forbid" Christianity to be practiced!
...and in many governments around the world which are theocrasies, some religions are forbidden!

How could you have the freedom from something that's everywhere around you? From public prayers to the motto on money (In God We Trust), you don't have freedom from religion. Remove all the churches, crucifixes, and bibles, then you'll be free from religion. Thus, the constitution guarantees the freedom of religion, not the freedom from religion. Of course, you have free choice, but if a couple of Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door, they won't be arrested for violating your freedom from religion. That was my point.

OK. I understand now what you meant. Indeed it is hard to get away from some people imposing their particular "god" on you.
That is the reason why it is so important to keep that wall of separation between church and state.

Perhaps now Dan can appreciate the fact that the Mormons can't sure him for 10% of his income. His freedom to be an eccentric does indeed free him from supporting the Mormons or anyone else he doesn't like. What Dan really objects to is their freedom of expression even though he has the right to tell the Mormons at his door what he thinks of them.

I've never opposed the freedom of expression. Of course I'm free to tell Mormons what I think, especially when they're banging on my door to tell me what they think.

Their banging on your door is the price of your freedom from their religion. Cheaper that being hauled into court for disrespecting their religion, so don't complain.

A mate of mine who was being repeatedly visited by the JW's stopped their visits by answering the door naked and inviting them in. They have never been back.

Thanks for the tip, but I tried that once with horrible results.. I mistakenly presumed that the Mormon boys had returned and opened my door buck naked... Turned out to be my mother-in-law.

I had just got out of the shower one day and heard someone knock. I threw on a t-shirt and no bra. Those little Mormon boys couldn’t take their eyes off of me. I could tell they were upset that they didn’t get invited in. 🤣
Years ago, I invited two Mormon boys for supper. When I offered them ice tea, they looked at each other and said yes. 🤣

I was watching an Isaac Asimov interview this morning about superstitions and reality. He made some very good points about why people still stay with their superstitious beliefs rather than believe in reality. Unfortunately when I tried to post the link here it would not work. I will try another way. Isaac Asimov talks about superstition, religion and why he teaches rationality

Skynet sounds more like Mark Zuckerberg's Metaverse ** The metaverse is a virtual universe that lets users replicate their experiences from the real or physical world on a virtual platform by creating their avatars

I've had a handful of papers submitted where "organism" is missing the "ni" in the middle. Makes for interesting reading!

I know it's splitting hairs, but from a genetics perspective, these xenobots have already replicated their genomes the normal way, and use kinetics to separate. Pretty interesting still.

Yes it's nice, but it's still that old DNA platform. So old school. I'm partial to those with a different sugar backbone. XNA
