Poor wally... -I feel sad for you.
It must be heart breaking to have of one's views shot all to hell.
But that will happen when one's views are so narrow and meager in their ability to understand facts. that is okay the Lord will sort out the "facts" when he returns and it won't be pretty for you and others when that happens...

You see - I don’t understand this. What I call cognitive dissonance. “It’s not going to be pretty” (we all know that means eternal damnation) followed by a smiley face. A little sadistic I think.

Christians aren't losing anywhere... a BIG WIN for Jesus in Ohio. They just made it legal for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and insurance companies to refuse service based on religious reasons. www.news5cleveland.com/news/state/ohios-budget-has-a-provision-allowing-medical-providers-to-refuse-care-for-lgbtq-communityShould make for some amazing headlines in the future. Christian insurance companies refusing to pay for HIV treatments because the Bible says it is their "due recompense" for sin. Paramedics refusing to give CPR to a gay person because Paul says they are "worthy of death" Evangelical emergency room doctors refusing to treat a transgender patient who has been beaten because Leviticus says they deserved stoning. etc.

On Friday I attended a funeral ( my neighbour)where no hymn was sung just the Beatles songs. One being “nothing is gonna change”. It was a first for me. I assume he was an atheist, nothing spiritual mentioned/ no minister. But then I may be wrong.

Happy Birthday Magpie you OB. Hope you have a great day with Family and Friends. Will raise a glass to your continued health. You have certainly been a battler, that's for sure. Hang in there mate, too soon to hang up the bat.

However, what Thomas Sowell stated that schools in the past taught children HOW to think not WHAT to think is simply not true!
He must have been having "nostalgia moment!"
It was much more the opposite, -in the past that children were taught what they had better think or else!
How to think, using "critical thinking shills" were simply not taught.
The problem with Thomas Sowell and others like himself (and wally) is that they don't like how childrena are taught today.

tinyurl.com/5jn92kw7as firearms per person increased in the USA firearm violence went down...study from the CDC 96'-14' source: AEI <<< right wing, mixed fact checking because they dismiss the climate change narrative... I wasn't able to pull up your referrence, wally.
It said it has "expired." (cause death unknown) but I figure it was so bias as to the right side that it just fell off the wall like Humgty Dumpty. Or possibly your referrence was so was so far out of date it just died a natural death. (your study w from the CDC 96'-14')
Any way, here a much more recent survey.
Gun violence is up. It's been up for more than a year.
America is in the midst of a spike in gun violence without recent precedent. Image: A body is transported from a Fedex facility in Indianapolis on April 16 , 2021, the day after a gunman killed eight workers there.

It may feel like America entered a new wave of gun violence in 2021, but a review of shootings with multiple victims shows that their frequency has been unusually high for more than a year.
Data from the Gun Violence Archive shows that the number of multiple-victim shootings first spiked in April 2020 and has stayed high since. The most recent wave of shootings around the country, including the April 15 attack in Indianapolis where eight people were killed at a FedEx facility, is just the latest symptom of that trend.
The deadly pattern has continued this year. There have been 160 shootings from Jan. 1 to April 26 in which four or more people were injured or killed, compared to just over 90 during the same period in 2020. And this year’s total is nearly double the average for the same time period for every year since 2014.
The rise in shootings corresponds with an increase in gun sales, which jumped at the outset of the pandemic as stay-at-home orders unleashed a wave of unemployment across the country. FBI background checks, which are conducted when a person attempts to buy a firearm from most dealers, can serve as a proxy for gun sales. In the 13 months since March 2020, the agency has seen 3 million background checks in a month 11 times, after having just one such month between 1998 and February 2020.

If you grab the back of a cobra’s neck, it reduces it to an instant and sometimes rigid mobility. I’ll take your word for it. Perhaps Moses was a better biologist than we give him credit for. Haha...

What I'd like to learn is what "crikey" means? I'm guessing its Aussie slang, a curse word Steve Irwin used a lot? Or a down-under expression similar to 'Holy Cow'?

You've got the internet, look it up. Crikey: Chiefly British — used to express mild surprise. He looks more than mildly surprised.

I did look it up and the Merrian-Webster definition didn't seem to have anything to do with that picture?
Definition of crikey
—used as a mild oath First Known Use of crikey
1826, in the meaning defined above History and Etymology for crikey
euphemism for Christ

I was watching a video filmed in Florida the other day and it was of an Alligator cruising around a boat launching area. It might have been filmed by Dan or Lee as they kept saying look at the size of that "croc"
