Non Sequitur for today: Wiley Miller
Depicts picture of Moses leading a bunch of people in the wilderness at the midway point.
Moses states,
"Then He says, 'You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?' and I like an idiot, I blurt out, 'You betcha!' "

Snow ~ I have more memories of the mosquitos and bugs that used to frequent our picnic area on camping trips in the past. However, we did see a few deer and a number of squirrels and birds sitting by for the leftovers. Oh, I hate mosquitos. I have the best excuse in the world for avoiding them now -- my doctor told me I had to. Bob ~ Me, too! I must have very tasty blood, because they always have me for lunch when they're around, which takes any pleasure out of being outside for long.

This isn't really a joke. I saw it happen.
JUDGE JUDY: Let me tell you, lady. Your goose was cooked early on.
THE LADY DEFENDANT: I don't eat goose.

"You want to complain about police brutality? Great. We can make sure you don't complain any more." View AttachmentWhat's scary is 'this is happening at a location near to you'!! Sorry. That wasn't humor at all, was it?"Well, Ferguson is nearly 2000 miles from us, I estimate. But it is a lot closer to us that George Zimmerman is. Las Vegas is not immune to racial incidents, but the racial divide is not nearly as distinguishable here as it is in many other places. The majority of public school students speak Spanish at home, and the rest of the school population is divided among English and roughly 90 other languages, many of them in ethnic communities within the city. And there is no part of the city that has a specific racial demographic, except the old west side area where all the "coloreds" were required to sleep, eat, and live until the 1960s. Today the population there is almost all African American because the residents inherited the properties from their ancestors who purchased the places during segregation. Our most potentially violent confrontation is between the Cliven Bundy types and their religious war against civil authority.

This video really got me laughing as it made me feel like I belong to the "ancient of days" as these young kids review an old Remington Typewriter and wonder how it works? LOL This is so funny to watch, especially if you are a member of this older generation who didn't grow up with modern technology like we have today. I could just see my grandkids in this video. They are so adept with modern technology that it's mind-boggling.

Bob ~ Unfortunately your attachment above presents the view of Christianity today. The fact that people are born a certain way doesn't seem to even enter the picture or the fact they were created as part of God's will for mankind. I remember when Chely Wright in Nashville got a lot of booing for coming out as a gay Christian, being the first country music star to do that in our area in recent years. I shared some of her songs and her story on TMB Musicbox recently, too. Her story of near suicide over the conflicts within she endured really touched my heart. It's so sad that people are made to feel this way simply because of the way they were born, no fault of theirs. Chely knew she was a little gay girl from 5 years old and never would have choose the stigma for herself, although some today profess it's a choice in need of a cure. What a crock! When are people going to wake up and face reality, since gays have been around since the beginning of creation? Just look at the book of Genesis as proof to this fact.

There was a time when lame people were considered unfit to enter the temple in Jerusalem, too. Bob ~ You're so right. Under O.T. law, a lot of people were deemed either unfit or unworthy due to their sexual pre-disposition or their handicaps. Where was the compassion in such portrayal, I would like to know? One thing for sure, it becomes obvious that the religious culture and prejudices of the times contributed a lot to how people viewed those who were different from themselves and still does today. Just check out these shocking statistics within the world today for how gays are viewed and practicing homosexuality is also illegal. Honestly, the USA is ahead of the times in their new laws protecting gay rights and I'm glad to see this change. It's been a long time in coming. Also, you don't have to be gay to appreciate some degree of decency in the laws of the land finally being demonstrated here at home. Hopefully, this attitude will help others to see the light and not be so prejudicial in their opinions over differences in race, religion, or sexual pre-disposition found within the world today?

Fun! My (formerly) 4-year old returned from a visit to a local museum enthusiastically declaring, "They made some really old things back in the 1971's!" This included a rotary telephone which she mimed dialing for me.

Matisse ~ It's amazing just how many things we grew up with before all these advances in technology that would seen foreign to the younger generation coming up today. My grandkids would probably react the same way as those youngsters in the video. It surely makes you feel ancient to hear their remarks over the wonder of things used before computers, cell phones, and Internet became available to all.
