The results of forgetting himself to labor for God of uncle Hoa. Within a year, we have had 11 people professing, 2 of them (a married couple) professed immediately after the baptism day. They have listened to the gospel since many years, but they saw many injustices happening…they stumbled and didn’t go to the gospel meeting any more. Until uncle Hoa came visitting them…sometimes they accompanied with us to some places…they saw the unity and the love, the peace, the joy that the friends have. Their heart gradually became warmer, they had the joy in the communion with us…and now they decide to worship God with us. This couple had brought many big bags which used to stuff dust into it to block the spring. They cooperated with other friends to make a pool of water for the day of baptism. They made it very careful and stable…although days after that there were many heavy rains, the flood submerged all surrounding fields and the pool was still stable. Nevertheless they must remove one corner of the pool to flush the mud stagnated and make the border higher… They all made by hands. That was a work of friends in Sông Rây and Suối Lạnh. Our former baptisms had had uncle Châu attending. This time we had only uncle Hoa, however all elders assisted him. Here is the picture of uncle Châu and uncle Hoa took at our home 4 years before, when uncle Châu was expelled and uncle Hoa removed the collar of 2x2 system, to be free to serve God. In the affliction, two uncles have the joy and freedom to serve God…

Tonight on the way home, we stopped at my favorite SE Asia restaurant, and had spring rolls and pork and rice noodles, bringing you folks immediately to mind, as each time we think of you all, the two uncles, and those you have shared pictures of with us. May this represent many of us who speak of you all often, wishing peace upon each one and thinking of those who are not well. Longing all can be comforted in the knowledge there are not only those now, but those who've gone before and who come after, all blessed with the same peace we wish upon you. Greetings please to the uncles when you see them.

Minh Thanh - I heard you had some American visitors recently, friends of mine from Texas. Said they had a wonderful visit. Yes, we had a very cosy evening with them. We talked to each other around the dinner table and sang hymn songs. He remembered a lot of songs in Hymn Old & New Book. He missed his mother just having passed away and he liked to sing these hymns. We felt so close to them because all of us wanted God to be present in our heart. Luckily uncle Hoa returned from far places two days before and could met both of them. Hoping we will have many times to communicate with them and sing hymn songs together.

We can know so many people around the world that have the same desire to know the truth, to be sure of our soul's salvation. We are interested in someone's saying: "We are used to be in the "way" (the 2x2 system) but not in the Way (Jesus Christ)". Now we are not deceived any more by searching the Bible carefully. Yes, surely we will say your greetings to the uncles when we see them.

Thank you minhthann, for the quick update. How is Uncle Chau? It is of great importance to me to know of his health, though possibly he cares little if I do know or not, as I too have been "put out" though decades ago, never losing the love for thse left behind.
We have had two animal deaths here, a new born pup that we were trying to save, and a 6 month old buckling we were hoping to use for breeding. The latter was quite hard on Katie, who is just learning about the uncertainties of life on an animal acreage. Her old dog that she has had as a companion since her late husband died a number of years ago is not able to enjoy life any longer, and she wants me to put him down when she is gone to visit her mother the last two weeks in November. Not an easy task for me neither.
Much work left on this old place, wish I were a younger man! This old body continues to go downhill even though we do all we can to slow it. Smile, at least life isn't boring, with much to do, fix, or repair daily! May you find joy each day, knowing with me that no matter how badly things get, the best is yet to come!
In our Lord's love, grace and mercy....DJ

Just thinking of you all in Vietnam, wondering how uncle Chau is getting along Healthwise. Wishing for everyone's best. Must be alone myself for a few weeks. Never "easy." James 4:5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
For instead of trusting the guidance of the Holy Spirit, some workers long for the help of men!!! Because they are troubled, worried and anxious. In my opinion, those who long for the help of men lack the trust in God, causing God to be sad and envious. It is God who destroys all their plans. One friend shared : "They manage to keep the real truth about what they have done, a secret."
Yes, although they want to hide, by all means God exposed to us to see clearly and know many things they had done secretly. I am very happy when God is present with us, feeding and blessing us. The work of God is developing much in our country. There are many souls being thirsty of the words of God so I said to uncle Chau. I am regretting for him being bound to stay at one place…I hope one day he will have the courage to exit that place in order to continue following the guidance of God as before. Thank you for your thinking... God will be with you, when you stay alone.

I am regretting for him being bound to stay at one place…I hope one day he will have the courage to exit that place in order to continue following the guidance of God as before. Thank you for your thinking... God will be with you, when you stay alone. I hear and understand your concerns for those who've lost their way to trusting in the Holy Spirit 100 percent! Reminds me of about a week ago in reading about poor old Job, there was a reference in Jeremiah....I'd read Jeremiah some before now, but this time the sadness of how the children of Israel and Judah having left the Lord God out of their lives and gone off to idolizing the Gentile Gods and in general disobeying the Lord God in most every way! He was so frustrated with them He repented having brought them out of Egypt....in the OT there are several places where God has been pushed by those disobedient folks to repent His part in making them His own inheritance! So now I'm studying Jeremiah and I weep nearly every day over some of their escapades! But at the same time, if it hadn't been for those sinful escapades, I wonder would the Gentiles ever been offered God's Salvation? I mean we learn in JEremiah as well as other prophets' books that God turned to the Gentiles to stir up jealousy in the hearts of the children of Israel and Judah! Though I have noticed that Jesus' ministry was within his own country to his own country men ....seems he was giving them a taste of the mercy and love of God.....but his own received him not. That said....I've missed speaking with my Vietnamese brothers and sisters! I'm praying all are well and all are finding the joy of serving our God and Saviour! There is nothing like unto it! Or at least for me, there isn't! I've spent nearly 3 months living in a motel room....my apt. has been full of a couple of small insect pests...and let me tell you, I've learned what "pestilence" means! It means a lot of healthy challenges as well as having to live one day at a time away from home!.....I'm back home, and this will be my 3rd night. I had a few of the tiny Thrip that'd come in through the air conditioner/heating unit right at dark with some flies...there were probably about 2 dozen and why they think I'm some to furnish them food, I don't know! The problem is they're getting so old and past going really, they're leaving their beaks in me and that works worse then a stinger! I hope that I fought the last of them last night....but anyway, that's why I've not been on TMb! I haven't had much heart for anything,a ctually! I'm still praying though that you all will continue on your road following Jesus Christ....as Jesus told Peter to do, You know! Love to all! Sharon

Recently we were busy with many things. Although we couldn’t communicate with you on the board but our heart always miss you all. We were worried when we didn’t see sister Sharingtheriches, now we know that she experienced difficult days with sickness, hoping that today she is better… There are some joys I want to share with you… • Some weeks ago, uncle Hoa’s motorbike was banged by a cow when he was on the way to the countryside. He fell down and was hurt lightly on his face and on his limbs…the friends in Sông Rây wholeheartedly took care of him until he recovered completely. Now he was in the South and will be in the central of Vietnam. Some friends who worried about his health want to accompany him on the next visit. This morning when we had the fellowship meeting, we know that Giang (the young man) has quit his job to accompany uncle Hoa. God has urged his heart. All of us are happy and assured. • I and my husband have had the visa to visit the USA, so we will come to Washington DC on the beginning of April of 2015 in order to have a reunion gathering with our old school teachers and schoolmates…we hope to meet some of our new friends when we are there. We are excited and happy, because this is the first time we come to the USA. • The work of God in our country is progressing better, friends in many places support and work together with uncle Hoa so he is not alone. There are a lot of people listening the gospel and concerning the salvation. That is the encouragement and happiness for uncle Hoa as well as for us

I am better, mostly because the stress is not so bad now....I had living condition problems along with my illnesses and had to live in the motel about 3 mos. But am back in my apart.ment praying that the pestilence is irradicated! We read much in the OT about "pestilence" and I can tell you exactly what that is! Not that I'm bragging, nor complaining. I'm sorry uncle Hoa had accident with ornery animal! But am rejoicing that the young man has finally made the choice that perhaps many of us knew was upon his heart, eh? May God keep him as he learns the life of a traveling minister in his homeland! I know uncle HOa will rejoice for a companion for he has carried the responsibility alone for so long now! And we all are thankful for his continued efforts and pray his injuries are healed and he keeps encouraged inspite of the troubles! Oh, how nice it would be to see our beloved Vietnamese friends! Though Washington, D. C. is somewhat a mileage issue for some....but know you're welcome in our country and are hoping your visit is joyful for you! Haven't heard from your parents, so give them my deepest regards and love, please! May they continue their efforts to live the life for God....and SAviour! Love to you both, Sharon(Sharingtheriches)

Thank you for your concerns on the work of God in Vietnam. This morning (Thursday) uncle Hoa and Giang parted us, after having studied the Bible together, in order to visit some friends in remote deserted places. Like Paul, they have to face many dangers on the way. They go joyfully because “impelled by love I go again…”
Uncle Hoa and Giang have breakfast before starting the trip It's time to leaveI don't go all the way, only part them They will visit friends scattered many places in the central of Vietnam. We feel assured when the young man (Giang) accompanies uncle Hoa to support him
In more than 3 months we will attend the reunion conference of our alumnae association …After that we will go to California and stay there more than 10 days. My friend plans the programs for us during the days we will be there…she also arranges for us to meet some of you, we are looking forward to meet face by face .

A post Christmas hello to our Vietnam brothers and sisters! I know MT and husband are looking forward to a journey to our country soon and we pray that they have a safe and satisfactory journey to, through and back home!
I suppose all are watching the progress of the new companion, Giang for uncle Hoa! I know I'm feeling much better that uncle Hoa has someone to ride along with him on his journeys into the more unsettled areas and the farming areas! May they know satisfaction with their services to all with God's blessing on their labors!
We haven't heard since 12-21 and yes, I know that isn't so long ago, but some of us have gotten addicted to the Vietnamese updates and glad spirits of those who love our Lord and Saviour! Hope all are well.

The same as you, we are feeling assured when Giang is accompanying with uncle Hoa, to visit many remote deserted areas in so long trip… We are often contacting Giang in order to know more information…of the trip. He was happy with their first days when visitting the families of God’s people. They welcomed them warmly and joyfully…but the purpose of the trip is not only visitting the families of God people but also the families that they had known previously and preached the gospel for them. The visitting at these places sometimes weren’t convenient because the members in the same families some wanted to hear, the others didn’t…because most of Vietnamese people worship ancestors… We are afraid that Giang will be discouraged when he faces many difficulties and trials on the way…but we are happy when he shows his determination of willing to accompany uncle Hoa in another trips We are grateful for the serving wholeheartedly of uncle Hoa for many people in Vietnam…and that love also communicates to Giang for today.

We want to explain some more about Giang and worshipping ancestors Giang accompanies uncle Hoa to be uncle Hoa’s companion on the way and supports him any necessary, because uncle Hoa is now high in age and the way is far and a lot of uncertaities!!! Giang professed 4 years ago, immediately after that he did the military service during 3 years…and he just returned from military service in the beginning of this year. So he has had few opportunities of listening the word of God. So by this, the two of them support each other, spiritually and physically. Only uncle Hoa preaches. Most of Vietnamese people worship ancestors…they are grateful and thinking of their ancestors, this is taught in every family. On the beginning of the lunar year, lunar months or on the full months they prepare food and fruits to offer on the ancestral altar…the family of the eldest son take the responsibility and his wife is in charge of fulfilling. So some families they don’t want their members to listen to the gospel…because when they follow God they will forget their origin of ancestors and they are called being lost their origin!!! Some people are afraid that when they die, no one offer food for them…they become hungry ghost… On the eve of new lunar year, they have very big offering. They invite their dead grandparents, dead ancestors return home to celebrate the three days of new lunar year with them. After these three days they have another offering to see off their dead ancestors leaving… Besides the descendants must remember the exact date their relatives passing away in order they give offering every year. I know in general only…but I have a friend who is the wife of an eldest son in a family and she is so tired with those rituals…She must record and remember those days of the family if not she will be despised… the bigger and more people attended, the more well-known they have duty with ancestors…only putting more burden on those people…but the others have the excuse to gather eating, playing being the main purpose…

Perhaps the worship of elder and deceased family is overdone but I think about what Jesus had said to some in the NT about that they didn't hold their parents in respect, but said what their parents done for them was a "gift" or corban! Otherwords the offspring held no respect and no sense of obligation to care for their parents in times of the parents' need espl when the parents are elderly and frail!
So respecting our elders and deceased kin folk is a good thing....but one thing that would be nice if they understood that those who go into heaven with our God and Saviour are fed from the Tree of Life...where there are leaves which are for the healing of the nations plus the fruit of that Tree of Life is a different fruit for every month or some measure of days...though there are no nights in heaven!
Thus if these poor dear folks could understand that their dear departed ones that have served our God and Saviour, they are given the nectar of the God that we all adore, eh?

Yesterday uncle Hoa returned safely. We are happy to see his face radiant with smiles, as well as the satisfaction of Giang & Truong accompanied uncle Hoa. Perhaps you will be surprised to see another young man in the picture… His name is Truong. When uncle Hoa visited his family at a deserted place near the frontier of Vietnam and Laos. He was working in Laos. When his mother informed him that uncle Hoa came visiting, he rushed home…the same as Giang, he asked uncle Hoa to go with them to know more how to serve God. He told me that “because uncle Hoa help him from dying in his sin, so he wanted to go with uncle Hoa where uncle Hoa went…”

I can see that uncle Hoa is very happy that he has 2 younger men showing such interest in Hoa's work for his Savior! This is wonderful,, now we will add Troung to our prayers and pray that both young men can remain in the service of others like Uncle Hoa does. So that when uncle Hoa is no longer able, he might rest with that lovely happy smile thinking about his 2 younger men, traveling on and making the difference in many lost sheep's lives!
Thank you for sharing and the pictures!
