I'm wondering if a book a month is too ambitious. We'll be at 'Life of Pi' for a while yet. Should we back off the schedule to launch a new title every 2 months or every 6 weeks instead? A little wider spacing would work for me, as I do want to read all of the books that have been suggested. Any thoughts?

I see no problem with discussing multiple books simultaneously, and I read a couple books a week, so I'm good with whatever...

My problem is keeping up with the reading list, and that's in part because I read other stuff as well. However, I'll defer to whatever the consensus is. I'd hate to have a reading list that's so ambitious that we lose some interested parties.

Might it be possible to judge from the traffic of posts on a particular book when the interest is being to lag and make the decision on a case by case basis when it is appropriate to recommend that we move on to the next book?

I can definitely put up a thread to gauge if people are ready to discuss the next book, and delay or proceed accordingly. However, I'd still like to get a base line sense of how often people would like to read a book. i.e. once a month, once every 6 weeks, or every 2 months. How do you feel about that 'yknot'? (And not to say every person will want to read every book either).

Preference would be 6 weeks.
But, I am good with any pace the majority chooses to set. If I can't keep up, I'll rest for a lap.

I'd rather distance the books a bit than risk losing participants who can't keep up. If there's no great objection I will space them every 2 months (as that is easier to mentally track than 6 weeks.) But I'll wait a bit to see if anyone else wants to chime in on this.
