Fhttp://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/local/2012/1/18/42361/Canadian-woman-dies-in-Southern-highway-accident From "Dominican Today", the corrected version:
(Apparently they can't get her name right!)
Santo Domingo.- Two dead, including a Canadian woman, and more than 15 injured, some of seriously, was the result of an accident Tuesday afternoon on the Southern highway (Noviembre 6), just a few meters from the toll plaza.
The accident came when a cement mixer truck hit and dragged a bus full of passengers, killing Santo Mejía, 43, and the Canadian missionary worker, Kristal Eslawiski, 35, both with severe traumas. They were pronounced dead at Marcelino Vélez hospital.
The accident took place when the bus from the city of Baní was reportedly being searched at a military checkpoint prior to arriving at the toll plaza, where it was struck from behind by the truck, dragged it nearly 100 meters, before pushing off the road and down a shallow ravine.
The injured were taken to Darío Contreras Marcelino Vélez, and Centro Medico Real hospitals in the capital.
First responders including Civil Defense and firefighters, as well as the military assigned to the toll helped the victims out of the hulk, whose roof was tore off in the collision.

I thought that the Dominican Republic was "French"? The official language of the Dominican Republic is Spanish. Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. The official languages of Haiti are French and Creole. Source: People and Society tab on the CIA World Factbook www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/dr.html
