I received word that Luther Nussbaum passed away this morning.
I have no other information, but will add information as it is available. There will be a service in Virginia, although of course arrangements have not been made yet.

Interesting that there are three different renditions of the family name -- "Nussbaum", "Nessbaum" and "Mussbaum". Or perhaps the one sister was a Nessbaum-Nussbaum who married a Mussbaum? Lin, you would know, right?

Knowing all the family quite well, Nussbaum is the only version of the surname I've ever known. Others would be typos. Irene was the only one of the seven Nussbaum siblings who married; her surname was Badertscher.

Interestingly enough, there are two large families of Badertschers among the professing people in Ohio, and if they are related at all, it's quite distant. Irene Nussbaum married into the family that is not related to the Badertschers you know best, Gene. (I have relatives married into both Badertscher families.)

Makes sense - I was wondering about that, because I didn't recall the Badertscher I know best being shirt-tail or closer kin o' the Nussbaums.
