Titus, Hope you are still checking in on this thread for an update on Dennis. Dennis is still living at the same place in Castle Rock Washington. He only uses a cell phone now, and his regular phone has been disconnected. I would suggest that anyone that wishes to contact him do so through a letter, as his cell phone minutes are limited, and he now does not have internet service since there is no land-line service to his home. His address is listed on his profile: Dennis Jacobsen 804 Si Town Road Castle Rock, WA. 98611 Dennis has been engaged to a lady, and has been since last July, so he I am pretty sure that he uses his monthly cell phone minutes to keep in contact with his fiance who lives several states from him. Hello! Since I know as much about Dennis as anyone, and have been told about this thread...decided to relate what might be of interest to some. My health has not been well. Yet once again my medical file at the VA says I have defied all odds and major improvements are underway, though I am by no means "well."
Interesting about the date of my engagement as it actually occured months after that reported here. When I decided to rejoin the land of the living, at first I just "went with the flow." That produced a great disappointment.
Then I typed out a list with over thirty qualities BEGINNING with love, joy, peace, etc. including intelligence, education, ability, a good parent, no age, nor physical requests, just the type of qualities I wanted to find in a truly believing companion. I turned to MY Lord God and asked HIM to help me find such a one. He did, some 2000 miles from my home. I could not believe it for she appeared almost as immediate as my prayer was uttered.
Anyway, yes, I have boldly and undeservedly asked this lovely healthy medical instructor for University of Texas Medical Board IF she could consider me as a worthy mate for the rest of her life, and she accepted. Over the year since we first met we have seen each other first for a week end, then a week, then a number of times since for days at a time. We plan to marry before fall, God willing and the devil don't interfere.
She is a lovely person, works in OB-GYN and frequently is catching bablies at the UTMB facility at Galvaston Tex. when she is not treating indigent women needing pregnancy care. We both make every attempt we can to put God first in our lives, and agree, theologically, politically, and every other way we can discover, sharing tastes in foods and interests in languages (She often works in Spanish. has lived and studied in Germany, taught German,) and is a former USAF medical services Officer and provider, even in combat zones overseas.
Just as one side of my family can be traced back to Jamestown, so can one side of hers. The Stauffer/Stouffer family name is well known in the land, just as the Meeks/Denny geneology name is of my family.
Her father was a Korean War Hero who gave his life for his men by diving on a hand granade that was tossed into the middle of them while they were all in a bunker of sorts. She was raised by her mother and eventual step-father. She herself is a widow with thre children.
It has been my great honor to have been to repeatedly visit her mother and stepfather who live right on the beach at Pensecola and I have grown to love them also. My new best friend has given me several tickets to Housten and driven with me several times to visit her brother in Batton Rouge and parents in Fla. I have met her three grown children, who are a great deal of fun to have around and who we think seem to have accepted me as worthy of their mom.
Presently I am now trying to restore my own property long neglected as a result of my poor health. Of course frugality remains the core of my existence.
And that should sum everything up for those interested.
With loving kindness as always. [/font]

It seems to me as if my pleas to the Lord to end a life filled with many a Job type experience to allow me to end life with a similar ending to his have been heard, and things have begun to happen I never thought possible. All thankfulness, praise, honor and glory go to my God, and those who have HIM indwelling their lives!

To the few of you who have commented kindly upon my return to make brief limited posts, thankyou. It is a conundrum for me that happiness seems to follow being sadder, but, wiser.

DJ, I got your number from your nephew a little while back, but have been on my own little trip that has lead to great depression. I meant to call you, and may surprise you, but congrats on your new life and with a wonderful woman. You deserve it if anyone ever has. Take care, and to illuminate this is Dale Peterson, formerly from Washington State. I had to get a new username because I deleted my other account. This is the first time on here in nearly a year, and I still frequent the TLC board, so will see you over there.................Dale
