How about this thread to be used to ask for prayer. I ask that this isnt a thread to be debated as to whether you believe in public prayer or not.
As most of you older posters know my daughter suffered a Brain Aneurysm in March 2009. It was her carotoid artery. We began to pray for her here and also my church and many friends for that very serious situation the situation. My son and daughter in law fasted during that time that she would be ok.
Everything that they said would go wrong didnt. I believe God answered our prayers. My daughter has now been married for a yr to a man that never left her bedside through all of this. She is also trying to have a child.
God has greatly blessed us.

IllinoisGal will you and others here who read this please pray for my husband, Jeff. He went yesterday for his checkup after having his last chemo treatment Oct. 22. Dr. Musgrave found enlarged lymph nodes in the groin area by palpitation. He will be having his pet scan early, instead of in March, so we can see what is going on. He has had 8 chemo treatments for lymphoma.
Also I am happy your daughter is doing well. Thank you for the update.

Jean Austin is a lady who has been in our hearts and prayers since we first read her story. I really thought that there would be an outpouring of prayer and tangible show of support for her from the friends and workers long ago to help with her recovery and expenses incurred from the irresponsibility of the leadership.
Please pray with us that people's hearts will change and that Jean will get the healing and support she needs. I firmly believe that a change of heart towards Jean will create a safe place, spiritually and emotionally, other victims of worker abuse to come forward and get validation and healing. This is one of those spirits in the ministry that does not come out but by prayer and fasting.
Jean has been our hero since we read her letter in 2008.
We will pray for Jeff and your daughter, IG.

Amen plus praying for the victims in Vic/Tas areas that they can see retrobution for their years of living with their CSA stories. As well the lady in S. Africa as she faces opposition to her cause and pray she has the strength to follow through with a civil lawsuit. I pray for that because of our experience with IH and his coming out smelling like a rose all the time. And is applauded by the workers for being two faced in his lifespan and actions. And I do pray for the workers in high places that they will humble themselves and start walking in other people's shoes that they have belittled, scorned, shunned, rumored about, and literally excommunicated with prophesies of eternal damnation!

Besides praying for particular people, we have felt a need to pray that the way would be opened for complete honesty in the ministry. There are traps set and things hidden. Our prayers have been that those who set the traps will fall in them themselves(according to Ps 35) and that God would open doors. All to the end that all may know that it is our Father who is doing the work.
In other words doing the spiritual warfare that will take away the power and rights of the spirits involved. I would be glad for others' thoughts on this.

I have been in churches where they had a prayer chain and each week you could ph with your prayer request and everyone who loved to pray was a prayer warrior and given the request. In all the churches I have attended the elders layed hands on the sick and gave opportunity after the preaching to minister to the saints. There is comfort too in knowing people are standing with you and praying. As christians we do have conflict and opposition to the mere fact we serve Christ.

However when we pray for people we need to be careful that we discern correctly what is operating. Man/woman are not our enemy. The kingdom of darkness is. Because people act according to the influence of darkness its darkness we war/pray against not the person. This is very important if we want our prayer to be effective. We must remember that God loves those people. Eg: Yrs ago we were youth leaders and the Lord gave me a dream showing me the controlling spirit {and other stuff}that was operating through one of the elders. I will say here that I loved this man, he had been hospitable, friendly etc but he changed and I couldnt understand why. We didn’t know then that he had a love of money and we were a threat to him because we gave the money that came in for visiting speakers ALL to the speaker{without counting it}. The church had a policy that they gave a set amount to guest speakers. We were obeying the Pastors specific instructions. The elder who happened to also be the treasurer was fuming because we didnt consult him.. When we prayed and in those days broke the spirit of control, confusion, and resisted the works of darkness declaring scripture as well. The elder changed towards us marginally. Over the next few months he blocked or tried to block every idea we had and cut across and usurped our authority. It really hurt and we didnt know how to deal with it. So we fasted and prayed. In the end because the Pastor had blinkers on we moved to another church to train as Pastors. It was a strong learning experience but it taught me that sometimes when you are made descidingly uncomfortable its because God wants to move you on to more things. Better things. That same elder caused a major church split within 2yrs and it was the money he was after. The church was worth over a million, the traditionalists managed to hang on to the church, the elder moved down the road taking about 25 people with him and still is the Pastor of that small group. Secretly he wanted to be Pastor,.,,who would have thought it. Incidently the Pastor didn’t know the true nature of the elder until the crap hit the fan. We did. We never did tell the Pastor our concerns we took it too the Lord. God knew there was a problem.

That sounds right, shushy. Thanks. Coming out of the 2x2s we are generally oblivious to spiritual warfare.

Please pray that all those who know the condition of Alexander's heart will prevail, through the power of the Holy Spirit, against the powers that control any who would do his family damage.

Please pray that all those who know the condition of Alexander's heart will prevail, through the power of the Holy Spirit, against any who would do his family damage. Thanks, Emy. But I really am not asking for prayers for myself or my family. We have been blessed 100 fold beyond what I deserve. I am more prone to fall on my knees and thank God for what He has given me, then to ask Him for help in this minor situation with my family. I do get low, no doubt. And sad. And I am glad for those that have prayed for me and that their intercession may have winged just the strength that I needed to perhaps be what I needed to be or perhaps refrain from saying something that didn't need saying, and I know that I will never know who helped me through a troubled time. I do think that this board helps to bind the wounds caused by the separation doctrine. And it helps us to see that we are all living souls before God and that we really are all brothers and sisters and neighbors before God. I know that I think of many of you as you may mention a crisis or a trouble that has befallen. As I was talking with someone last night, I said that I felt like I am responsible for whomever comes across my path. That includes this board. That is why we continue to take on foster kids. I literally feel that the Lord is bringing them to my door, and we take them in as we are able without concern about their troubled background or baggage. We don't cherry pick the kids (which is our right to refuse any and all), but we take them as they come. And that too has been a blessing.

And since thinking about Alexander's issues, made me want to pray for the elderly granparents that got caught up in the furor that was the MI debacle. Both 90 plus years, and alone after having had mtgs. in their home for over 30 yrs. He has alzheimers and bless her heart has a lot of pain physically plus the incredible pain and lonesomeness now having to do with just their family most the time. They are a great elderly couple and I pray that God will give them confort that some of the rest of us have failed to do though we want to.

I saw my sweet daughter today and these are her words to me " Mom, Everyday is an awesome day because Im alive. She said God has truly blessed me and its easy to thank him everyday. She said good things happen when you have great faith and believe God will see you through your sickness. March 25th will mark the 2 yr anniversary of her surgery
It got me to thinking..I believe the bible speaks of " great faith". Just what is the difference between faith and great faith.

This is Mrs TS...
Thanks for all that you guys are sharing here. I feel like it is not my job to be out there in the "front ranks" but this year has really shown me the power in faithful, consistent, steadfast prayer. I am not talking of my own prayers because I have been very discouraged and it has felt so hopeless to pray but I have a dear friend, back in South Africa, who has faithfully prayed for me every single day. She often would send me a note on facebook telling me what she had prayed for me that day...and that she would keep praying all day long. I had confidence that God was hearing her prayers (not mine!!) and just knowing she was praying for me helped me to keep going through otherwise impossible times. About three months ago I began to just pray for her and her family and made it a priority to pray consistently for them every day at least once. Well, praying for her encouraged me still more!! Now I see this as an important part of my own fulfillment and job description: to pray faithfully for the ones God has shown me need prayers. While I'm washing up dishes or doing laundry, it has become a blessing for me to think of these people, their courage, their need and just tell our Father about them and what they need - even though He knows -...and no matter how I was feeling before I began praying, I always feel encouraged, strengthened and uplifted when I get done praying for others! Perhaps you guys have experienced this already but to me it is new feeling, that my prayers are real and alive and God hears them...I know He has answered my friend's prayers for me...and my faith in Him has strengthened because of that...perhaps that's just it, I was praying before but without faith...now I am discovering what is is to pray with faith...I know that our Father hears, He cares and I am so thankful! "Believing that God is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" ...
So, I just want to let you know that I will be remembering all of your prayer requests all through the day...thanks IG for what you shared from your daughter...it strengthens my own faith and enriches my life to be able to pray with you guys...

Mrs ts
Have you thought of keeping a prayer journal. My prayer journal consists of many things like dates, a list of what I am praying and asking God for. People, situations, or towns and cities. Scriptures he gives me or dreams and visions. I write them down and then I have a record to refer back too. I dont fast much at all at the moment but when I do I write it all down. Then I can look back and see his guiding hand, his inspiration and his comfort. Fulfilled promises and where I believed and put my faith out for something and he answered.
Just a thought.
ps: one thing that took/lifted my faith was hearing others testify of his goodness in answered pryaer the other was the scripture..the "Word of God can divide bone and marrow, soul and spirit." When I meditated on that my brain was blown away with expectation. I always think back to that scripture when a spirit of unbelief trys to attack my mind with doubt. I completely trust in the power of our God.

I try and record dreams, scriptures..but it's not been very consistent, neither have I had a journal esp dedicated to that...also I haven't recorded my prayers for others...I think that would be a wonderful thing to do...as you say, to see God's guiding hand. Thanks to you all for the encouragement!
