Hi guys! Not sure if I'm meant to post here as I'm brand new... I will anyway! I'm Wilco, I'm 18 years old and a 3rd generation. I am no longer a member and struggle a lot to understand my childhood growing up in this cult (as I call it); my parents are also no longer members, though my father still shares many of their beliefs. My grandparents and all extended family still attend meetings. I think it is amazing to find such a large and varied community of people here that share similar (or vastly different!) experiences. I hope that being a part of this will help me grow and regain my confidence in religion and the world. Thanks.

It takes a great deal of strength and courage. Especially if you still believe in a God. Wishing you all the best.

Welcome Wilco, thanks for introducing yourself here.
Know that Christian faith exists outside the F&W fellowship too.
Best wishes and keep posting on TMB, admin

I very much appreciate the opportunity this Forum has afforded and presented us to share our various experiences as members or ex members of F&W fellowship. We may be separated by thousands of miles in various parts of the world, but many of us have much in common by way of experiences. Some experiences have had life changing impact on many of us for better or for worse, depending on our nature, personalities, and our abilities to absorb and cope with disappointments. We need to be able to forgive our trespassers in the hope that our own trespasses will be forgiven. Let us all look on the bright side, all may not be lost. Who know? the best may yet be ahead to come.

Honestly, I don't know where I'm headed with this search. I'm just confused. But I know more than I ever did when I wasn't confused, and that is encouraging and scary. Welcome, withlove. That's a great quote "But I know more than I ever did when I wasn't confused", we know exactly what you mean! Every blessing to you on your exciting search, and keep dropping in here to tell us of your discoveries. Here's some inspiration from Eph.1 (NRSV): Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that he lavished on us.
"... the riches of his grace that he lavished on us" Blessings, admin A big warm welcome, tammy. Please don't be put off (too much!) by the 'war of words' that some of the regular Friends and Exes wage constantly on here. You might just help nudge things more in line with the Spirit of Christ. Meek, lowly, loving. Embracing, not shoving away. Nice to have you on TMB, admin

I believe I am 5th generation, born and raised. I professed twice. Stopped going in high school then re professed in or at the end of high school. Then 9/11 happened and I joined the military and left. A huge amount of my family is still in. This is convention time and I was thinking about going. I did a google search first and found out a lot of things that we weren't ever told. William Irvine being the founder and George Walker being the main US guy was a big one. I am attending a new church now and feel like I can settle in now that I am not trying to compare it to what I grew up in. I pray for those that are still in and understand why they would cut off family and friends. That part definitely almost brings you back. Just to be closer to them. I am happy with the family member or two that is out now and able to discuss "The Truth."

Have your 2x2 family done this to you?

professing.proboards.com/post/850486Yes. My parents didn't. My mom wanted out and couldn't because that was everything she knew. All family disappeared. I have been told it is my fault. I do have a 3rd cousin and one family that is nice and will talk every once in awhile.

So many beautiful christian people who were our brothers and sisters in meetings have left TMB. That saddens me.
