I just want to say a thank-you to Scott,Cherie,Sharon,Ilylo and many, many more of you etc. etc. etc. My wife and I have moved on to another church that is so fulfilling and have never heard or had scripture explained like we have the last three months. I have been in the 2x2 for 43yrs and always knew something was wrong. The sadness, terrible judgement of others and the not following of scripture has always bothered us. Thank-you for all your posts and leading us to sites that explained the truth to us We will forever be thankful to you all for showing us the true Christ.

Well now.... You are very welcome if you were able to find something in my posts that helped you out!! I think that 'we' often don't know who we might help when we share things here on the TMB and through emails and PM's. I am glad to hear that you have found a good place that is teaching you about the scriptures. That's wonderful!!!! Scott

I too have found great solace in an Evangelical Free church after having been a 2x2 for 35 years. There is such a freedom to serve, and worship GOD free from all the rules and judgement of those walking with you.

Exes? Well these are usually found together with O's at least in tick tac toe. So, we can either be exes or O's and we have a tough choice to make. sometimes we may find ourselves wanting to be O's and then realize that we are exes. Well being jealous of O's when we are really exes is difficult to deal with. And, we just have to learn that we are exes and outside of the inside of the circle within the triangle of the depth and breadth of the will and way of whoever it is that is running the show currently.

Redwing, thank YOU for sharing your new found joy! Just remember to love the Lord our God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul. And to love your neighbor as yourself!

Blessings as our dear Selah often says and joy abundant to you and yours! Redwing I would like to echo Sharon. I am always pleased to hear about brothers and sisters finding joy in Christ, finding joy in worship and finding joy in fellowship. The tragedy is that for 43 years something was wrong and it never got better. Happy days to you and your wife while you continue to grow in love and grace in the Lord.

Buzzybee: Thanks for your response and I share the same joys. Freedom to call on only our lord and serve him alone is a blessing.

glad to hear that others have found joy, however for myself I have learned that religion, ANY religion, has simply been put in place by people to comfort and control people. The substance that we believe is true in any religion is simply is there because we want to believe it is true. Yes, it is hard at first to give up that security blanket but eventually you really are free. try it.

1234gooding: You are so right. If you have a relationship with God that goes beyond religion, then you are free indeed. Just because a person is religious doesn't mean they are spiritual.

I believe the early workers set out to preach Jesus only, and a relationship with him that is beyond religion. Sadly, over time F&W created another religious organization.

I believe the early workers set out to preach Jesus only, and a relationship with him that is beyond religion. Sadly, over time F&W created another religious organization. It becomes only another religious organization if that is what one wants from it and sadly there is an element that feels a need to push the organization part. What I've found is the organization part is very loose knit when one stops to consider it. We have evidence of this aspect on this forum with threads such as those about overseers not agreeing on divorce & remarriage, etc. For those who need tight documentation, committees and positions to create and update such, fiscal control, organized outreach programs and the like -- this may not be the most comfortable place until they can see beyond that and just focus on Jesus.

If this was meant for me. The answer aussiefriend for me is "yes". It was hard after being B&R in. I love my family- to them it was a shock as I was an elder also. They now have set down and looked at the reason why. They are one by one stating they now agree with the decision and are having to evaluate their lives also. You should not have to get past something or jump over legalism to get to Jesus. He should be front and center.

Redwing, as an elder, what hindered you from putting Jesus front and center in your church?
Even if the workers assigned to your field are weak on this issue, I can see nothing that would prevent an elder from providing this kind of direction. The elder in our meeting certainly does and I seriously doubt he has ever locked horns with a worker on this!
But maybe there's something I don't quite understand. Would it be possible to elaborate?

Jesus was front and center in the little church I was the elder in Ron. It was all the legalism, exclusivity and conformity rules our little church face continually with a system built on the sand. eyedeetentee seems to suggest their are others better able to discuss this with you and that may well be so , so I will honor that not knowing exactly what the intent was. I will just say I loved our little meeting and those in it. Still do. I will just not be part of something that is based on a lie that is covered up. Honesty to me is Godly. If you can not depend on your leaders to be honest and teach with knowledge and correct interpretation of the bible than it is a problem to me along with many others leaving.

RW, pardon me for butting in, but I think all eyedeetentee was saying is that spidey and zorro may have insights into this topic as well, based on his experience with them both.
