I thought that given the number of 2x2s (and presumably ex 2x2s) in the British Isles, this Board would be a magnet for debate. But there is none. A message every couple of days or so and that's about it. Surely the British and Irish aren't such a contented lot? Where do they go to bear their 2x2 souls? There must be some who have a 2x2 axe to grind? It appears not.

You mean the French? I doubt it - the French are rarely a contented lot. Always revolting. Actually I note in the Council of Overseers picture that the French dudes are goverened by an Englishman - as are the Greeks and the Italians - while the Romanians are governed by a Northern Irishman and the Spanish by a Scotsman. Add to these the three native Scots, Irish and Englishmen overseeing their own and you have eight of the nineteen overseers on the grand council being from the UK. Then we have the Russians, the Finns, the Poles and the Ukranians ran by men from the USA (the cold war's over guys - relax!), the Swedes commanded by a Canadian and the Dutch looked after by a New Zealander. This leaves a mere five of the nineteen European High Council members actually being European! That means only five not having English as their native language! In fact only the Germans, the Danes and the Swiss are considered sufficiently mature to have native leaders plucked from their own flock. Does this indicate a level of central control unheard of outside of Zimbabwe? Hmm!

The lively post on the Main Board. There is no anonymity on this board. By process of eleimination all are recognisable. Fear reigns. Fear for relatives and repercussions for honest posters within the group.
Also Aileen hoggs every post!!!

"That means only five not having English as their native language!" You'd hardly call what the Scots and Irish speak English!

"That means only five not having English as their native language!" You'd hardly call what the Scots and Irish speak English! Ahhh, thanks for that, Aileen. We (Irish) do our best to speak something better than English. We can't help it - it's our natural superiority coming to the fore - given that Ireland is about the best place you could ever hope to live. Minor variations occur, as you might expect, with Northern Ireland having a slight edge both in terms of the natural beauty of the environment and the pleasant nature of its people.

Is Aileen's first language English? It hardly seems so.
