But if Iraq had nothing to do with "terror" and supposedly wasn't a threat, why the worry that "more terrorism" would occur when we acted against Saddam? There is a loss of control in Iraq that allows the terrorists to exist there without anyone having the power to eliminate or control them. As has been shown over and over by a variety of reports and studies, the terrorists were not operating in Iraq under Saddam. Terrorists are opportunistic and will migrate to areas where they can operate. Currently no one can prevent migration across the borders of Iraq in a number of areas. No one is in control of even the cities to say nothing of the countryside. Everyday the terrorists set off bombs and kill more people, seemingly at will. The US does not have the troops in country to control them and the Iraqi police are not yet able to take over the job. As more and more people die it becomes more and more difficult to recruit more people into the police force. As the terrorists are seen as being more and more successful the local people re-evaluate with which side they are going to cast their lot. More than ever are now siding with the terrorists. Well, Saddam was no threat to the US. Whether people thought there were WMDs or not does not change the facts that it has been shown that there were none to be found. Saddam was not a threat. This statement is not supported. The religion has not changed. The recruitment has not changed. What has changed is the aggressive and, as seen by many, illegal and immoral invasion of a soverign nation by the "Great Satan" and that provides a rallying point for the terrorists to seek more supporters. Just as the WTC attack spurred many in the US to join the military so does US attacks make it easier to motivate followers to join the 'good fight'.

Brick, you're awesome. Tanks, No Name, and ditto to you as well. Good to see you back in action again. These threads have been fun to follow. I've enjoyed all of these posts although many from a different perspective than mine. It's refreshing to hear the debate outside of the political ads and campaigns. Very nice to hear from our neighbors across the pond and their point of view.

Oh, but if Iraq had NOTHING to do with terror, the terrorists wouldn't bother to waste their time there . . . . .
Again -- if Saddam/Iraq had NOTHING to do with terrorism, why the worry that terrorism would increase? If the two were mutually exclusive, the terrorists wouldn't be there, trying to kick the coalition out. (And WHY do they want to kick the coalition out? It's because they do NOT want the establishment of a FREE and DEMOCRATIC Iraq.)
Sorry -- I don't buy this comment; the problem areas in Iraq are not spread throughout the entire country -- they are isolated areas. Contrary to what's represented in the media, most of Iraq is stable and progressing positively.
You can say this NOW and feel fairly comfortable in that -- at the time, Bush went on intelligence (from our own sources, IN ADDITION TO intelligence info from the UN AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL SOURCES). He did what was right under the circumstances, and I've no doubt that Saddam was a threat (still PO'd at the U.S. for booting him out of Kuwait).
Actually, it is. Militant Islam has been underfoot for decades -- Militant Islamics hide behind various Arab causes/movements to justify their actions, when the reality is that the core ideology of Militant Islam is total domination.
Go do an in-depth research into Militant Islam (that would include reading what actually comes out of the mouth of these maniacs). Militant Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with oppression, or poverty, or despair -- it is all about establishing Islamic control throughout the world.
I've been to that blog before, as well as many others. I even wrote one of the Iraqi bloggers, and he wrote me back -- very nice fellow -- upbeat and optimistic.
