Did your professing parents whip you in meeting? Do you have any memories of specific floggings you recieved in the other room?
Do you parents remember whipping any of your children in meeting?
My parents scared me from acting up in meetings!
I have seen parents beat the hell out of their children for squirming in meeting when the little ones are too small to sit in adult designed chairs. Just proves that the old Victorian and Puritan ideals of the early workers are wrong.

Nope- just a thump on the head occasionally. The spanking wasn't needed in a meeting situation - the shame of a public spanking was enuff to cause me to mind my manners.

What you witnessed isn't unique to the F&W's, I've been to other churches where the kids got taken out and beaten. It's bad parenting, regardless of the religion.

nothing wrong with a good whipping from time to time...
go to a wordly church and watch how out of control many of the kids are...
professing kids rarely act this way...
spare the what and what the child?

I think this post has been steered immediately off course by the use of overly emotive words. Whipping, flogging etc cause imagined scenes of a cat of 9 tails, of leather whips with bits of lead in them, of blood and lacerations caused by whippings. From parents? I don't think so.
Now parental punishment for out of control behaviour, including smacking, I strongly support.

Not sure what you mean by "up side the head", but no I would not support smacking any part of the head. I use the hand and the buttocks.

Must be my European lack of sense of humor, it was the word "upside" that stumped me. Still does. Does that mean "on top of" ?

Hello fmofthe2x2s - I'm curious - Were you spanked as a child and do you spank (do you have kids)? Due to the amount of trolls and guttersnipes on this board, I will no longer reply to unregistered user’s posts that are specifically directed at me or about me.

fmofthe2x2s: Please accept my deepest apologies, I see that little note now and apologize for bothering you.
I should say I ask because until I had children of my own, I didn't have a problem with the idea of spanking but now it just scares me. Oh well. It's a personal matter I suppose.
All the best.

Not just whips! Chains, thumbscrews, burning slivers under the fingernails, you name it!! Wanna see the scars?! Only problem is, now that I'm an adult I have to have my wife whip me before I go to convention or I don't get anything out of it. ;D

I can't stand to see a child hit in the face, stomach or mouth. The ass is the only place to spank a child and the punishment should fit the crime:stealing, disrespectful talk etc.. They need to be warned of their behavior. If you don't clearly define your rules, don't expect children to learn them.

Myself not because probably I've been to proportionable. Presumable as a child with four or five years I knew what will bring punishment and I avoided such. But my son was bashed by his Grandfather. And he really was very jumpy not only in meetings. We had a lot of worry also with his health. So bashing was unacceptable to us and I said this too. Hope the damage will not stay everlasting!

Many English speakers (myself included) would not do as well writing German as he does English.

when a child has been whipped before, he/she knows it when his parents remove him or her from the meeting room. So they howl before they leave. So the parent has disturbed the meeting! I have heard loud spankings from the distance. Sometimes I couldn't even tell you what the child was doing in meeting to deserve such abuse.
