I'm doing some looking around to see what the exact dates are for Boyden, IA Convention this year. I thought there was a site online that had all of that information, but can't seem to find it now.
Anyone have the dates?
Much obliged!!!!
love, Sarah jane

I would love to go to Boyden, if I could just be a fly on the wall...and then buzz off when I felt like it.

I would love to go to Boyden, if I could just be a fly on the wall...and then buzz off when I felt like it. careful where you land, they have those ropes painted with sticky stuff that hold flies-they get BLACKBLACKBLACK over the course of convention (they have a crank dealie that cranks the used rope, exposing new, fresh sticky stuff........) you don't have to be a fly on the wall, there should be plenty of room in that HUGENEW building, in the chairs, so many won't be there, just pretend you have to go to the bathroom and exit, drive out driveway(either of them) and you are on your merry way.........avoid the exit that goes through the west camping area-it can be seen from the meeting "shed". disclaimer things could have changed since i was there last the building is still HUGENEW

just me - where are you located that you want a closer place? I am in central Nebraska, and honestly it is only out of morbid curiosity that I would attend.

Just me - Why don't you go to York NE if you are in central NE or are you meaning around York? That is the 7th thru the 10th but you more than likely know that already. What is the beginning initial of your NE town unless you would rather not give it.

I prefer to not reveal who I am or precisely where I am from. I will say that York would be within driving distance, but as I am not a part of the 2x2's I am not privy to when or where the "conventions" are. Like I mentioned, morbid curiosity is the only reason I would go. 7th thru the 10th of Sept?

You are familiar with Interstate 80 thru NE. Heading east on I-80, get off at the York exit and go left which is towards the cityof York. Turn left again at the first chance you get which is by a Truck Stop. Go 1 mile west and then turn right (north) 1 mile. There you are.
Or go one more mile towards York and take a left by the Rural Electric Co. building. Again go 1 mile west to a stop sign. Convention is on the SW corner of that intersection. Easy to see.
I may be there. What would I look for? Male or Female? Younger or Older? Guess that wouldn't matter as you probably wouldn't have a bun on top of your head if a woman and maybe a midi skirt or pants. Whatever. Yes, 7th thru the 10th.

I am familiar with the area and in fact I do believe I have been in the building you are talking about several years ago, dont bother asking anyone they wouldnt remember me. As morbidly curious as I am, I dont think it would be a good idea for me to pop in as I know a few people who might be there including a friend of mine. My friend and I have never discussed religion and if I show up and misbehave or cause a ruckus then I would be disrespecting my buddy, and I wont do that. I am either younger or older depending on who you are talking to, and my drivers license says my gender is M and you guest5?

seems alot of the folks in Iowa are struggling these days.......some of the oldtimers are so narrow minded - just feel sorry for the kids. Mr Thayer has his hands full!

Also an M. Have you been to York since the new Machine shed for meetings with air conditioning and the new building for eating. No more tent. What kind of ruckus would you want to start. Those things are only happening at Altamont NY I thought. But it could happen. Might be interesting. You aren't an ex-worker are you?

Nope not an ex-worker or anything else, as I have stated before I personally have never been involved in the 2x2s. IF the place is the one I am thinking of, I was in the "machine shed" ( puuuleeeeze , who in their right mind puts A/C in a machine shed ) during the final stages of construction, if its not, then I have never been there. Frankly as shy as I am its very unlikely I would START anything, however, when I am recognized, and I would be, at least by face, I might just end up defending the honor of a third party, and quite frankly, I have too much to lose to garner any satisfaction from shutting them up. Like it or not, there are some real a$$holes in that part of the 2x2's, PLEASE dont take that as an indictment of the whole shebang, every group has their problem kids

No ex-worker. OK. The 3rd party might be in the York area. If so, I can understand cause there is lots of mis-information on another thread on this site about York. Lots of cliques around York. Just be in the right one is the whole point. The machine shed is very nice with the air conditioning built in the ceiling just like a home. Nothing cobbled up at all. Even the eating place has air. Probably one of the convention farms that got or is trying tax free status for 4 days of church services.

You say you will probably be in York guest5???
I am not going to go to the convention, I can see NO good coming of it.
If you dont try to convince me I NEED to go to meetings to get to heaven, maybe we could hook up for a coke and a chit chat, while you are in the area.
Got any hobbies??

NEnjoy the luke warm hot chocolate made with crappy water as well; while you are drinking it along with some generic oreos that are hard; look in the kitchen and see the workers drinking soda, cake, pie and leftovers...I have seen it..
