Harold Hilton stated at convention, that: "Professing people who marry "worldly" people are just throwing their children’s lives away." 1996

How many professing people have kids to throw away before they get married? I mean, if you've already got a kid to throw away when you want to get married, I'm sure the workers aren't going to get too involved.

I love the rhetoric -- immediately scribbled onto notepads, saved for years, shared with many, and never, never analyzed and thought about to verify the logic. Here is a direct quote from a 2x2 friend of mine. He's a 60-year-old, 35-year 2x2 elder/semi-worker overseas: "The Catholic Church is the Great lady. The mother of harlots. All false religions spring from the Great lady". How's that for tolerance and open mindedness? Do most/some/all 2x2's think this way?

By the way, the word "sleeper" was automatically substituted for the actua word I quoted which was Wh@Re

That is a fairly common understanding even among other churches.I don't know if that is what Jesus meant in the Revelation.

That is a fairly common understanding even among other churches. Exactly right- look up some protestant church websites-especially those in the British Isles- and see what they say about the RCC. Makes what the F&W say today seem pretty tame in comparison.

Several professing family members have married outside. My grandfather never did profess, and he and my grandmother have been divorced for years.
My brother's wife, who came from a Catholic background, recently professed. She doesn't speak in meetings, but she enjoys the fellowship.
I wish you guys could have a taste of the wonderful friends and fellowship we have here. It would change your stereotypical opinion of 2x2s.

Trouble with stereotypes, the normal family usually have 1.6 children, broken down to: .805 girls + .795 boys = 1.6 children. It is these averages that create serious problems for those that are the ''NORM''. hmmm .8 boy, I wonder what he looks like, did someone cut off his arms?

You obviously aren't aware that most of the non-2x2 people who visit this forum are former members of the 2x2 group. That makes your opinion of them stereotypical as well. Well done.

in a lot of cases he is correct i have seen many such cases myself. wonder why this was said if not for a reason like what Harold mentioned? Okay, go ahead and attack me.... Why? That is exactly what "stereotypist" did to my friend "withopeneyes" and I will not stand by to have her attacked. Do you understand, now?

Reminds me of a quote from George Bush Sr. on Bill Clinton, Bill and I have become very good Friends through charitable deeds, I just don't agree with his political views. In other words, even though they have become great friends[fellowship] I doubt very much if he would change to the democratic party.[doctrine]

I wish you guys could have a taste of the wonderful friends and fellowship we have here. It would change your stereotypical opinion of 2x2s. It's true that there pockets of open minded friends and even some workers here and there. I've been doing this for over thirty years and I've seen all kinds, just as you will in any other denomination. (yes I believe this is just another denomination) I will always love the f&W's, but I can't and won't abide exclusivity in any denomination. The other rub for me is the cover up of the history of the way. I spoke with our overseer the other evening and told him a story of a worker who had blown up in my face over the question I had asked about tracing the work back to Jesus. This was right after I professed, and the worker was visiting home from overseas. George Walker was also at that convention. When I told the overseer this the other night he said I should have asked George and he would have told me the whole thing. Evidently our overseer has known about the history all his life. I guess I just don't understand why it was ever hidden, and William Irvine and the rest were taken out of the vocabulary. (really I do understand. You can't claim exclusivity when you have a man as the founder. It's a way tougher sell!)

"Enjoying the fellowship" and being around "wonderful friends" is, for me, not a good enough reason to profess (which is one reason why I never did). I grew up in this wonderful fellowship, I know firsthand what good people are in it. I also recognize that they believe that this is the way God has called them. I have experienced the "warm fuzzies" that friendly, caring and God-loving 2x2s can give you, but it was not enough for me because I had doubts about the theology and historicity.

Says in Revelation about the false church, the harlot clothed in purple, sitting on seven hills. Seven hills usually refers to Rome. Anyone got any better idea of what "seven hills" could mean if it doesn't mean Roman?

Its the same when you upset a worker by saying that you believe in evolution or that the bible is "mythic in character." The problem isn't with a "fact" - a single, solitary, naked fact by itself requires context, otherwise it can run run riot with implications.

I am sure some exes think they have the light shining on them too. They could not analyze what this statement means because they are so taken up with their stereotypes about us, and their own self-enlightenment (remember the "Veterans of Truth"?)

If a 2 x 2 marries a Baptist (or other Christian faith), I don't believe that is being unequally yoked, and the 2 x 2 do believe it. Edy

All Christians are not equal according to 2x2s
I would agree, 2x2s are not equal to Christians
2x2s profess to be Christians, sometimes, but only by their mouth
Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mar 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Ooops, last verse doesn't apply. 2x2s don't even praise God.
= Not equal
