Convention is less than a mile from me but I do not go each year. Mainly because I dont want to have to feel like I am being hypocritical by being there in the first place. I am,however, quite aware that whole week of what is taking place there and wonder if I go to the store or anywhere in town if I will run into someone I know. Did you know that blue eyed people are smarter than all the others? Especially red eyed demons !!

They also have more wit !! hehe!! 1) Secure independent income 2)Practice virture You can pretend to be serious, but you cannot pretend to be witty! No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation with detail. Your worst humiliation is only someone esle's momentary entertainment. Nothing exist except atoms and empty space, everthing else is opinion. If a million people believe a foolish thing, it is still afoolish thing. Wisdom consist of the anticipation of consequences. A wise mans questions contain half the answer. People who love sausage and the law should never watch either being made.

I always spent most of my time at convention looking at the pretty girls! Got in some flirting, some day dreaming, a few private "walks" it was all good. And the culmination was getting her address, so that I could write to her after. Good times! During the meetings I usually played hangman or tic tac toe with my friends--never really considered it anything but a social event. I guess maybe people would feel this way when they get old maybe?

Where I went to convention growing up we had grass under our feet which was pretty long. We used to make little grass baskets! No wonder I "lost out"!!!

We as a family attended the Carima, Italy convention a couple of weeks after we were exed (at convention) 2001. Since then we haven't been at to a convention .. although I have stopped at an older convention grounds and visited the folks there a few times. In fact the lady at this convention grounds called us today to tell us that Eldon Knudson (the worker responsible for our excommunication) has unfortunately just been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Just wondering what are the conventions like in Italy? We have been thinking about moving there some day.

Actually, I think convention should be a yearly function for fun and encouraging those we don't see for a whole year. We should go to convention rejoicing for all the Lord has done for us throughout the whole year. We should go to convention rejoicing and leave rejoicing. If we are true Christians, we would never be "down" when going to the yearly event. They are always thankful to be there, but is is because they are always down. Sad. Churches go to their camps to enjoy the fun and games and fellowship for being together because God has been so good to them.

I'm wondering if the exe's on here miss convention times? How many of you exes have been to a convention since you became an ex? Do any of you go on a regular basis? If so, why? I'm thinking about it this year (maybe just a weekend) because it'd be a great way to see old friends and several relatives. Meeting time would be great for napping, reading a book, or working on some paperwork from the office. [/quote] I have absolutely zero desire to ever step foot on a convention ground again. I would be a disruption. My note taking would be suspect. Testimony time would be especially bad hearing all the sobbing, slobbering, I want to do better in the coming year comments. (There might actually be some good thoughts from that 1 couple who are fence sitters. The man from xtown normally has some really good insight. ) I respect those that will be at convention too much to cause disruption. I respect myself enough that I feel no need to grovel at the feet of those who do not return my calls and e-mails. I left because I didn't feel that what the workers were preaching was scripturally sound. My relatives will see me at funerals or family reunions-if they attend.

They are as special as you make them. If you sit around the bunkhouse discussing Wm Irvine all afternoon, then you might be missing the point of being there.

I have seen people on their way "out" of the Fellowship who behave precisely like this. It's quite sad.

It's quite sad. The not on their way outs.......... sit around in the bunk house discussing the latest movies, perfume, fashion fad........ Others sit around in the bunk (lay around) taking naps, playing video games (not limited to kids), chatting with other laying down men. A VERY, VERY few will be reading and praying. Some do a quick dip prayer before they walk out the door. Some are at jobs-washing dishes, sweeping, laundry, toilet duty-they get to talk with the others around them-rarely is it spiritual. Parents of youngsters follow them around, some grandparents take that duty also. What do you do at convention between meetings GIT?
