I remember some older workers who liked to joke from the platform. William Lewis was especially funny. I remember a few who would joke in their testimonies. Some didn't like it and felt like speaking in meeting should be more serious and somber.

Bad taste. Did you make it a point to apologize to everyone else at this gospel meeting that “was solely for you?”

That might just be guilt screwing with you... Every time they mentioned sinners in a meeting, I just knew they were talking about me

The workers know when someone's got their number. Like the way Dems trip around Trump. Let's not drag Trump into this private conversation about our personal experiences in the *truth.* Trump contaminates enough of our lives as it is. Let's not allow him in here.

As I said in another thread....Satan and God are equal opportunity employers.
I respect your experience, your travails, and your acquired wisdom.
I'm guessing you still have questions why people did what they did, and didn't.
Little, or no closure to things.
Well... Seek Christ.
Take your refuge in Christ.
I have no better recommendation.

It is just that I can hardly stand the sight of Trump anymore and there are times I just want to think of something without that vision interfering.

In Texas, Joe Crane used to joke around - misuse words and correct himself; made puns. We liked it and him too!
For sure, have heard workers joke around (make fun of) other preachers and churches.
In visiting other churches, have heard many preachers start with an amusing tale; as do speakers in many secular meetings.

Sometimes the speaker/workers use a joke to break the ice or to demonstrate a point to the audience. Jesus uses many parables, Idiomatic expressions Mark 10:25 " It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." in His preaching.
Yes, I agree sometimes the joke can get out of control, overboard and it backfires. Sometimes the speakers say things without being funny but it sounds so funny to the audience/listeners.

Weird I guess if you never listened for his voice you would never hear it though. You gotta stop talking and start listening?
